You are the biggest fool. Just because you marginalize them politically does not mean they are slaves. They know the hatred of Igbos knows no bounds that is why they are been wise not to stir up your wickedness.
grin grin cheesy

There's no marginalisation. Oral folklore said they were fighters captured in the times of old, kept as war slaves and later blended into the society.... although with a population that can't form a Hamlet, they are just existing as modern slaves.

Tell me your Igbo name now.

That's not true, the east had resources, dear. The palm oil trade was common those times, and it was high value, the rubber trade too, reddening clay creams (beauty products), pottery works, the rafia trade, most were from the east. Why do you think Igbo's are more accustomed to trade, and please don't tell me that nosense of Lebanese coming to take over Nigerian, and all that crap grin.

That said, the only reason the Bini had no dealings with the east, because it knew that one threat to its communities meant a threat to them all. So the Oba or Ogiso (whatever the title is) used diplomacy when coming forward to ask.

If it used war, then you'll see all Igbo people being United to fight against him. Like the Arochukwu war with the British and the rest. That's why the Oba was smart enough to stay on his side, and would only chip in, if there were wars in a community, like the Ekiti wars, and all.

It was all strategy at that time. And yes, our ancestors knew what was strategy, it wasn't gotten from Romans. smiley grin
lol
This is actually funny because you don't know that Anambra and Agbor were colonies of the Benin. No kingdom in the whole of West West Africa come close to the old Benin kingdom. even Britain couldn't do anything to it on their own. You are talking about the only kingdom that stood firm even the scramble of west Africa by the Europeans lol. Igbo never had a powerful kingdom or empire

First things first. If you take it I’m standing brief for the binis pls dont bother writing any further. I’m telling history as I understand it to be from extensive research. After all this kingdom we are talking about where is it today??

The bini history is hard to refute you know why. Its well elaborated in both the portuguese and british text by the colonials when they arrived. Read up what they had to say about the city and the people. A text had it they were the most developed. Their history is also well grounded. None of these areas had anything close to what binis had going on and in the power system of the time could never had rubbed off on their superiors. Culture like water travels from a high point (strong point) to a low point (weak point).

And this is also why the culture of our colonial masters rubbed off on us and not the other way round.

Binis were bloody warriors. They beheaded 3 or 4 whitemen and sent the others back to tell the story thats why the british came in all their might. They had fucking balls.

Did you know the notorious northern jihad got there from Kwara (if I’m not mistaken) and were defeated?? And thats the background story of how some part of it are moslems

Haha! Dreamer. Who did you conquer and took as slaves? What battles did you fight? Did you even have an established monarchial system? When the British came, while the Binis fought and stood firm, didn’t you bend over and took it all?

Or why do you think the catholic culture and priesthood is well rooted in igbos than anywhere else in the south even though they crossed several southern tribes to get to you. You couldn’t resist, after you heard of the fall of your masters - bini throne to the British, you bent over easily. You took it all.

Igbos are the only tribe in the whole of Nigeria to give Britian a fierce and longstanding resistance.

and to further continue the story, most of the benin kings relocated to yoruba land and eventually became yoruba. for example in ikorodu there are two kings, both yoruba but one of them has lineage that goes back to the benin empire and they re called the olisa family. and so these benin kings that enslaved the igbos are called yoruba today . my point here is that history is dynamic and people are not always who you think they are. half the yorubas you see in ijebu and ikorodu are actually benin people 500 years ago
u just said rubbish at the end. Unlike the rest of yorubas, ijebus were quiet in their things. The only people that has ever beaten us in war was the british. Which king in ijebu is edo

Me I want to start to attend.
Let me open your eyes to another part of Ikwerre history.
We had a lot of Arochukwu people in our midst but fled during the war. No all of them fled and those remaining we adopted them as part of us though we refer to them as Ikwerre Aro. They could found in Isiokpo and other part of Ikwerre land. The natives discriminate against them. The Ikwerre Aro offsprings readily identify themselves as Igbo people. Check the background of any Ikwerre person who attends your meeting. He is definitely an offspring of Ikwerre Aro.
Learn. Leave is alone. We are not you. We are no subgroup of any ethnic group. If you are looking for any minority to enslave or neocolonize we have passed through that before and wouldn't want a repeat.
Cut and join Story of the confused ikwerre igbos , not only arochukwu , Akwa, Ika , ngwa Edo ekpeye etc are mixed into the ikwerre , you guys will drag this ikwerre history back and forth till the ikwerre dialect dies a natural death , how many ikwerre dialect speakers are left now? Can you speak the ikwerre igbo dialect yourself? Maybe ikwerre needs to go back and learn the Edo bini language

I would want Reno Omokri to throw light on how the ijaws find their way and settled in the coastal waters of the binis in edo state.

For example, the ijaws are dragging ownership of gelegele riverine settlement or town with the indigenous binis.

The gelegele crisis came up with the development of the gelegele seaport or River port by the governor obaseki led administration in Edo state.

Today, the ijaws want indigenous status which the bini are against as the binis consider the ijaws living in ovia as settler or stranger.

The ijaws even went as far as crowning a traditional ruler for their people in a bini territory disregarding the legitimate ruler which is the oba of benin.

Infact, in the federal government gazette gelegele town is in ovia local government under the control of the binis in edo state.

It is on record that the binis won their land ownership case at the supreme court in 1980s

But the ijaws are still using back door manuvering to claim a coastal territory that largely does not belong to them.

Today, we have ijaws in ilaje in Ondo state, in Akwa Ibom state, in Rivers and Bayelsa state.

In Ondo state, the indigenous yoruba push the the ijaws settler aside and introduce yoruba state anthem which the ijaws protested against.

Leave the Yoruba & focus on this one - Itsekiri. This is what the Britannaca had to say about the Itsekiri:

“The Itsekiri live on the coast in an area of extensive mangrove swamps and freshwater wetlands. ... Myths of origin establish that Ginuwa, the Itsekiri founder and first olu (king), was originally a prince of Benin, so that subsequent kings are descendants of the oba of Benin.”

If you please and wish to discuss, create a separate thread on the relationship between Edos & Yoruba. I’ll meet you there!

itserikis technically are yorubas. In traditional Itsekiri religion, Oritse is the supreme deity and creator of the world. Among the other deities are Umale Okun, god of the sea, and Ogun, god of iron and war.

hahahaha ok sorry for the insults but how on earth will you post a link from Edo and expect them to put historical facts that those not suit their narratives. Let me educate you further on historical events. Bellow is a video documentary done by British also narrating the work of a German anthropologist who made some findings, now pay attention to the video and extra attention to the video from the clip 4:00mins where he stated clearly that the oral traditions from the Binins of that era told them that they learn their bronze casting skills from the people of Ile Ife. See when it comes to saying the truth in regards to past events the white are always honest that is why White Americans will tell the truth that America is a land of Immigrants. This video, was not done by the Yorubas neither did the Yorubas narrated that Binins learnt bronze casting from Ile Ife, it was actually narrated by the Binis theirselve the honest ones in those days not this one of this era trying to twist history.

ekiti was a colony of Benin just like Lagos and Ondo
ekiti was never a colony of benin. Ekiti was under the oyo empire. The lagos you talking about as a whole was never benins territory. Oyos controlled some parts, ijebus took over the sea ports and controlled other parts. Ondos case is a special one. Most sources ive seen dont mention it being under benin kingdom. Its more like ondo and benin were very close neighbours, some of them even intermarried with each other.

Even the Itsekiris were under the Bini. Reno is being smart by half for saying the Itsekiri and the Binis. It was actually the Binis.

The Bini empire was the only one in Nigeria the Portuguese and later the British referred to as ‘Great’ in all of their text. Its influence spanned into the south west to present day lagos, ondo & ekiti, beyond the river Niger up to the kalabari and even cross rivers.

Its was for the untainted loyalty of the king in calabar to the Bini throne that he choose to be banished there by the British.

You are a liar! The only people the British ever proclaimed "Great" are the Igbos!
