Sir, if you observe me well since we started business, you'd see that I always talk about owing up to responsibility.

Not to boast, the materials I asked of you was to do a road leading to my office just 1 year into moving there. I met people on that street with big big cars, they all kept waiting for useless LG to come fix the covet leading into their homes and offices.

They didn't protest, they didn't go there daily to disturb the LG chairman, they only wrote letters (2) in 5 years to the LG.

The LG is just 2 minutes drive from the street and 5 mins walk.

I take exception to that. If you are cheated or dupe by a person. It is not because he or she is a diaspora. It is because the person is a dubious Nigerian. He will do the same if he is home. Yes we can be sensitive because we are dealing with you from a distance and suspect you are trying to play games.
Many of us have engaged a lot of people on this forum and paid them with bonus when the job is well done. Some of us have run into issues with contractors and work it out and sometimes accept less satisfactory job and still paid the agreed price.

If the issue with Twinskenny borehole had been mine, I would have asked him how much to fix the borehole and give him may be 20 or 25k out of his 50k. However, I will never pay you 100% before the job is completed. If you bleeped up, who is going to refund my money? At least I can use the balance to get police to harass you until you fix the problem or I decide to move on.
People bleeped up every time. I gave a family that is in Nigeria some project to do and he did some of it and then abandon the last part. I asked my sister to complete it which she did. I told this person not to expect monthly allowance from me until I finish deducting the money that was used to complete the abandon project. The money is about #200k . Assuming this is a contractor , how much will I spend to chase down 200k? If I had withheld #30,000 my loss will just be #170k not #200k. In fact I can even give the 30k as bonus to my sister that completed the project.

As a matter of fact, I had a member of my team remotely managing the guy working on your project. I was receiving up-to-minute update about the project from both guys.

I had to send the submersible pump used on the project when I realized it was taking too long than expected.

I really don’t have to do this but doing it to ensure your project is delivered satisfactorily will give more credibility to this platform and many other platforms out there.
The consequence of sitting on the fence and not taking responsibility/ownership is what we are all witnessing right now.

Integrity is rare a currency and an integral trait in business and building relationships. As a contractor, it’s is important that you have personal moral and ethical values that defines you. There is nothing more assuring than when a client is able to say, “this is where Mr XYZ would stand on this matter.”
Certain characters are valued by prospective clients and society in general are always looking out for those in business people . The list include, dignity, adaptability, truthfulness, honestly, flexibility, and intergrity.
Building a successful business involves effective collaboration. People must believe in you to establish a business relationship with you. They judge based on your reputation. Your character is a reflection your daily attitude. It mirrors your cumulative attitude. Be honest in all your dealings. Share the right complete information, and communicate effectively with people.

Disclose information when things are not working as planned. It doesn’t make you look incompetent rather it saves you from impending problems. Matters are better resolved in their incubation stage.

Take for instance the case of these borehole, This matter would’ve been resolved just by renting another piece of equipment at a fraction of the cost involved now.

If you have been working really hard in past without a personal commitment to exercise leadership by intentionally exhibiting examplary qualities, it time for a rethink. That is what has been holding you back from succeeding. You can’t fake it and always win. Ask yourself, how many times have you returned to a particular business and why did you go back there. The experience, they delivered met or exceeded your expectations.

You can be a leader in your field of business, it’s not about title or position. Instead always act in way that would attract people to accord you that respect. If Obi Cubana can do it, you can do more.

He’s obviously a novice in installing stone walls. The signs you’re seeing on the wall are from the chemical he applied while trying to clean up and that’s exactly the problem.

Maybe in 5 - 7 years of continuous wash, you might be able to wash off the acidic stains.
