Oh okay! Is that your sister in states or in Nigeria? But the facts is that I still doubt that anyway.
Can you share what your sister told you on the reason why it was cancelled?

She is in the state ,She told me she called an agent and that is what the agent told her ,lamenting that he has lost many of his clients due to that unconfirmed info besides I'm also doubting the information that's why I need someone to fact check the information for me, however my admission is scheduled to commence for spring

Good day Fam!

I need your advice. My visa has been approved for Fall and classes starts 23rd August, however I want to defer to spring next year due to financial circumstances. My question is is it possible? What are the likely challenges I get to face? Can anyone suggest money lenders with reasonable interest rates. Thanks

What school are you going and what program. If you are attending top 100 engineering school, you can consider prodigy Finance or Mpower loan. You can’t find reasonable interest rates unless you have a co-signer who can help you with salie Mae…

Your visa will not expire until after 2 years. You can enter the US within that timeframe but be sure to have a genuine reason why you won’t enter immediately as this will be a question at the port of entry.

Congratulations, was it the white paper he gave you he said you should take to the POE?
Phaithy:
I also got my visa approved today at the Lagos embassy as at 7:40am.
I want to give God all the glory for his mercies and letting my hard-work pay off. I had a lot of fears before my interview because my sponsor stays in the same state I’ll be going for my studies, I have a BA Degree in history and I’m going for my Masters in Supply chain management and also I have been denied the b1/b2 visa twice in 2017 but to the glory of God today, I wasn’t even asked a lot of questions. I barely spent 2 minutes with the VO that interviewed me.

NO TA/Funding
University of Houston Bauer College of Business
Masters of Science in Supply Chain Management
Initial interview time: 9:15am
Interview done: 7:40am
Tuition for a year: 44,000 (fully paid for)
No deficit

VO: why are you going to the US?
Me: I’m going for my masters of science in supply chain management at the university of Houston.

VO: I don’t understand what’s on your 1-20 it says management science
Me: It’s stated as management science under the school sevis ID

He was typing seriously and I kept looking at him.

VO: Tell me about this program
Me: UH masters of science is a non thesis 30 credit hours designed to be completed in 24 months with a 9 months OPT which makes its 33 months and I’ll be (cuts in)

VO: why did you choose this school?
Me: I chose this school because I’m impressed with the fact the professors in this department integrate (Cuts in again)

VO: How long have you worked in this field?
Me: 3 years and counting

VO:How did you find out about the school?
Me; I found out about the school through my former boss

VO; what’s the name of the company
Me: Company xyz

VO: who is your sponsor?
Me: my uncle xyz. He’s an engineer and works with Chevron and he has also payed for my tuition and accommodation

VO: okay( went quite for some seconds looking around then he handed me the white paper). Take this with your at the POE if not there will be big wahala.

Me: Thank you sir with a big smile on my face.

Hey guys I was already in the process of filling another ds160 because I wanted to change the appointment location on my ds160 to abuja but I stopped halfway because I saw it wasn’t necessary and didn’t submit it I hope it won’t affect my other ds160 that I filled and submitted initially

Hi. No it shouldn't pose any problem I think. Just make sure the DS160 location you take to the interview matches your actually interview location and your ds160 confirmation number should be the same you use to make an appt on the cgi portal.

Hello nairalanders.

My emergency appointment date is 16th August, the same date with my program start date. And classes start 23rd August.

I have emailed the school for a late arrival letter/extension letter permitting me to enter 3 or 4 days after the program start date. The school refused and asked me to defer. I then asked for deferal from my program coordinator he still refused

Please my question is:
1. Will I be denied entry and the port of entry and deported back to naija if I am not able to show the officers at the port of entry, the extension letter?

2. Will I be given visa at the embassy even if they see that my program start date has begun?

Pls guys save me with your answers pls

You might want to rethink attending this school if they are already proving so difficult to work with your visa situation.

I'd advise you to contact the international student office in your school or your DSO listed on your I-20 to let them know the situation and find out if it's possible they can work a way out to allow you resume some days/weeks late to school or defer to next semester Spring. You can also suggest attending classes online for Fall semester and resume in person for Spring.

1. No one can say if they would let you in or turn you back at the POE. That's at the immigration officer's discretion.
2. You would have to prove to the VO that your school allowed you to resume after your program start date (which isn't the case in your situation unfortunately).

Good morning Bright minds, hope we all had a good rest, waking up this morning and glancing on my mailbox, I got a notification that my provide feedback case has been closed with these response:

Public Response:

Dear Applicant,
Thank you for writing to the U.S. Visa Service Desk.

We understand that you would like to know the status of your emergency appointment request

In response to your question, we would like to inform you that your request is still under review. You will received an e-mail once your emergency appointment has been approved or denied.

.... please for those that got likely response, what are the implications??, does it mean my ER might be approved this week as I applied on the 9th of this month.

God bless all

Wait patiently. No one can guarantee the outcome.

If you meet the requirements; Sevis paid, resumption less than 60days, application completed, funding might also be an advantage but not basic requirements, you will be approved.

Long Post

Over the past weeks, I have been more than delighted seeing a 100% visa approvals from all those that I was privileged to have been engaged with in their F1 Visa mock exercise albeit some did not come here to share their transcripts. It was fascinating to have spent those times with you. Congratulations guys! More wins await you all.

In addition, I personally derived this somewhat, naturally induced self-confidence and the can-do-spirit with the news of your successes, that despite my 2 previous refusals at the Lagos Consulate, I knew I had what it takes to change the narrative at my third consecutive appointment in Lagos with the Almighty by my side.

NOTE: I am not God that gives visa approvals neither am I a professional VO that has worked at the embassy before. I only try to directly impact your preparation positively if I happen to have the chance to prepare with you.

Having arrived at the embassy at exactly 6:55am, I immediately joined the queue that was moving into the screening hall. After the checks, we waited in this hall for about 2hrs before entering the main interview hall were biometrics and finger capturing were done at around 8:25am. Two VO's on duty, a Black American lady in window 2 and a White American Man in window 5. The white man was dishing out pink paper with little remorse. I quickly observed that I was interviewed by him in December 2019, my second refusal. Partially, I started blaming myself for not going to Abuja while still in the queue. My wish was to be interviewed by the Black Lady which didn't come true. A vast majority of those unfunded didn't get approval in his window, window 5. You hardly spend 2mins in his window. The moment he sees you're funded and heading for probably a research focused program, he'd approve your visa. Most often than not, he doesn't ask beyond the same 3 questions if you have been fully funded. The other Lady would delay and eventually refuse an application. Generally, they were far more refusals than otherwise.

The Full Transcript!

VO: Good morning, pass me I-20 and passport.

Me: Good morning sir. This is it. (He immediately glanced on the financial section of my I-20 and started typing)

VO: what is your study plan and where are you going?

Me: I am going to study for my Masters program in Electrical Engineering at Colorado State University. I will be focusing on my research area in Radar Communications Systems and Networks. I will be taking a minimum of 9 credits of Thesis and 21 credits of regular course work spread within 4 semesters in 2years. I will be wrapping up my studies with a final oral examination. My courses are Satellite Communications, Information Theory, Digital Signal Pro... ( VO: Don't tell me about your courses, I don't need it).

VO: What is your plan after study?

Me: I will return home to work as a researcher with NigComSat or the Nigerian Communications Commission, where I hope to be involved the collaboration between NCC and SpaceX in the deployment of starlink satellite Internet services, a project that is likely to commence in 2023 and would end in 2027. In the long term, I would take up a lecturing role in my alma mater, this degree is a step towards achieving that, as well as setting up my own research institute here in Nigeria.

VO: I'll be approving your visa and brings out the white paper.... I said thank you with a huge smile/laughter on my face but covered with facemask. I heard other stuffs but could not comprehend... My body was already in motion. I think the long queue behind me reacted and cheered to my reaction... My sign of relief was more than glaring...

PS: My delivery was not smooth even though as I was 100% confident. The fact that I had cough, and was stressed (didn't sleep all through), tired, hungry as well as my poor history there could have been the reasons.

After 3 experiences in the same embassy, I would advise you to use the Abuja Embassy if you do not have any form of Funding or if you've been refused once in Lagos. It helps psychologically. The drilling in Lagos is Massive and I feel you have a slightly better chance in Abuja. I think Lagos has more applicants than Abuja, if this is correct, then it makes sense to use the latter. However, you can do it anywhere just like I did.

Big thank you to Horlahsunbo225, best plug for mock.

In all you do, Do Not Quit This Hustle. Listen to Burna Boy's song "Level Up" in the Twice as Tall Album if you feel like quitting.

Congrats sir !!! Ild appreciate a mock interview ! Thanks

Good day everyone

I have some questions regarding the qatar student membership stuff that was posted earlier on this platform.

I got to know that one of the benefits is having a 10kg extra baggage allowance for free.

Please I would like to know how true it is and also does it apply to specific locations.

Are there people on this platform that have used it and what are the necessary documents to take along to claim this at the airport.

Thanks

Good morning nairalanders ,I got an admission in EIU , masters in computer technology , tuition and personal expense $27k approximately I didnt make down payment and no GA though my financial affidavit reads $140K , my resumption date was 17th august , so I was advised to defer since I can't make visa appointment again . (visa queue up till 2022)

I just deferred and need help to achieve my dream of studying abroad , I am going to be 39 this August , married with kids and with no funding .

Can any of the gurus here help ?
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by slimdolyin(m): 10:00am On Jul 24, 2021
You visa was refused because you said your sponsor will send $40k to your account when you get to America instead of the university.

Your sponsor can never send such money directly to your account cause of money laundering act.

You would have said your sponsor bank will send it to the school account through Form A or any legal means.

I mean no one from Nigeria can send above $10k from Nigeria without been question.

Tyleet:
Visa denied this morning at Lagos embassy. Gurus please help me take a look and suggest ways to improve. I got no funding from the university so my COA was $40K.

Me: Good morning madam
VO: no answer
VO: Pass me your passport and i20
Me: I did
VO: starts typing then asks where are you going?
Me: I am going to pursue a masters degree in Animal Science at the University of Nebraska Lincoln
VO: what are you doing presently?
Me: I'm a poultry farmer
VO: So what will this degree do for you?
Me: My goal is to pursue both my masters and PhD at the same time in the same unl which I have discussed with my supervisor. After my PhD, I intend to return to Nigeria to take up a lecturing job at my alma mater. I have always been interested in teaching agriculture to students and I love to give back to my alma mater where I earned my 1st, degree. A PhD in animal science will position me as a great candidate for the job.
VO: points to i20 and asked who is paying this $40000?
Me: my uncle
VO: what does he do?
Me: he is a real estate investor, who manages my late grandfather's real estate properties in Lagos and Abeokuta. He was the one who sponsored my high school and college education and I lived with him all through my time in college.
VO: How is he going to pay?
Me: I have his bank statement with me as well as my late grandfathers will wherein he stated that proceeds from the real estate industry can be used for the educational programs of his children. At this time I wanted to pass the bank statement to her but she said no.
VO: what type of account does he have?
Me: savings
VO: Does he have a US account?
ME: NO. I will be the one to open the account when I get there and he will send the money into my account and then I will pay it to the school.
Me: Passes the financial statements to her again
VO: (She collects it and cross-check. The statement has a balance of about #30000000)
VO: Okay but I'm sorry you did not qualify at this time. You can reapply.

Twoods, Fairheart, lagosismyhome, other gurus, pls kindly contribute your thoughts

Hello guys,
Please I got this response from the U.S visa service Desk after I applied for an emergency appointment at the Lagos consulate:

Dear Applicant,

Thank you for writing to the U.S. Visa Service Desk.

We understand that you would like to know the status of your emergency appointment request.

In response to your question, we would like to inform you that your request is still under review. You will receive an e-mail once your emergency appointment has been approved or denied.

For more information please visit our website:
https://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-niv-expeditedappointment.asp

We hope this information is helpful to you.

Please visit https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/T3P3RXJ to share feedback on the services we provide.

Have a pleasant day!

Regards,
U.S. Visa Service Desk.

Then I tried to check for available dates to see if it has been approved and could only find dates in 2022. However, I haven't submitted my DS160 form and I realized that I have an option to change location before submitting the form.

My question now is if I change my interview location to Abuja will my EA (Emergency appointment request) still count for this new location or will my EA option link be restored as it has been removed after my first request?

I will be anticipating your response guys.

Thank you.

The section in highlights says it all... your job here is to get people to pay you for services they can get here for free. What makes you a "study-abroad consultant"? That you got lucky with a visa?

You keep yapping on about "network"... folks need to realize, not every state has a large community of Nigerians. Folks going to Minnessota, Michigan, Pennsylvania, upstate NY are NOT going to find a large network of Nigerians. Those people need to learn to branch out, make friends and connections with people from other cultures... that's what makes the US experience worth it. If your goal in the US is simply to hobnob with fellow Nigerians, you're cheating yourself of a wider, more enriched experience. Let people move here and explore on their own. As I said before, there is nothing special you're offering for a fee. I've been here 3 years, my wife is white American and we've both met more Nigerians here than we can count... including doctors, engineers etc., all for free!
OMG shocked so you have white American wife, but you were castigating Blow.job for marrying a white American. You are a hypocrite.

Hello nairalanders.

My emergency appointment date is 16th August, the same date with my program start date 16th.
