MEMBERS OF 37 REGULAR COURSE VISIT COAS, ASSURES OF SUPPORT

Members of the 37 Regular Course (RC) of the prestigious Nigerian Defence Academy(NDA) today, 23 July 2021, paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya in his office at Army Headquarters, Abuja. The visit which was a demonstration of their solidarity with the COAS since his assumption of command, happens to be the maiden visit by 37RC to one of their own following his appointment by President Muhammadu Buhari. They assured him of their unflinching support to the NA in the ongoing operations across the theatres.

While delivering his remarks on behalf of other members, the Commander Infantry Corps( CIC), Major General Victor Ezugwu noted that history was made on the 27th of May 2021 when the President, Commander- in- Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammadu Buhari appointed Lieutenant General Yahaya as the 22nd COAS.

He further noted that as course mates to the COAS, they were at the Army Headquarters to formally congratulate him on his well deserved appointment and to also reassure him of their unalloyed loyalty and commitment as he leads the NA to greater heights.

Major General Ezugwu further stated that only few members of the 37RC attended the visit in view of COVID-19 restrictions, while a good number joined virtually. The CIC reassured the COAS that all members of the Course are solidly behind him, as he leads the NA. He extolled the leadership qualities of the COAS, which he said dates back to his days in the NDA.

Gen Ezugwu eulogized members of 33-36RC for their exemplary leadership and mentoring during the formative stage of their military career.

Responding, the COAS commended his course mates, both serving and retired, for the honour they accorded him, stressing that it was indeed a nostalgic experience to receive them in his office as the COAS. He assured them that the NA under his watch would do everything possible to secure the nation from the clutches of criminal elements. He further noted that the NA under his command, places high premium on the welfare of personnel.
Highpoint of the visit was the presentation of souvenir to the COAS.

Nobody knows what tomorrow holds, if not for the demise of Lt Gen Attahiru, 37 RC might probably gone down the drain with Attahiru 35 RC provided he completed PMB tenure comes 2023.

But since the day they were enlisted it has been predestined that one of them will become a service chief, because the dream of every Regular Course is to have a service chief in thier set.

NewDelhi:
The Ogun State police command has arrested a suspect for kidnapping a military officer and stripping him off his uniform and using it to commit a crime.

The incident occurred at Odo Pako Ota, in Ado Odo Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The suspect was alleged to have made an attempt to snatch a Dane gun from a vigilante operative.

The police spokesperson in the state, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi said the suspect Waliu Oloyede was arrested following a distress call received by the Divisional Police Officer, Sango Ota divisional headquarters, CSP Godwin Idehai that vigilante men are having issues with an army officer at Odo Pako area of Ota.

“Upon the report, the DPO led his team to the scene where the suspect, who dressed in full military camouflage uniform with the rank of W02 but could not give a satisfactory account of himself, was apprehended and brought to the station.

“Upon interrogation, the suspect was unable to give an account of how he got the military uniform, or address of the unit where he is serving, hence he was detained for impersonation”

“While in detention, police got an information that the suspect and others at large abducted W/o2 military officer at about 11:30 pm of 16th July 2021and took him to their hideout in Alagbado Lagos State where he was stripped off his uniform, collected his identity card, his three ATM cards and phone before the victim escaped from them,” the police statement read in part.

Oyeyemi said the suspect wore their victim’s uniform and used it to commit another crime before they were arrested.

The commissioner of police CP Edward Ajogun has ordered the transfer of the suspect to an anti-kidnapping unit of the state criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation.

The CP also ordered a massive manhunt for other accomplices with the view to bringing them to justice.

This aircraft is a hell of platform

Yes,it is! Imagine the proper use of this platform: a 30 gun truck convoy of BH is 300 m from a coy FOB around 10 m from each other in a rough east to west axis doing their thing. A lone TAV at 50 feet flying at 500 kmh makes an appearance by firing its twin 23mm gun chin turret, slaved to the chin camera operated by the copilot from 2 km out turning from its southerly direction to line up the targets. It brings its adjustable wing mounted cannon into play overflying the entire 300 m or so vehicle convoy low at speed.

There are also several gun pods available for mounting on external hardpoints: UPK-23 for air-to-air use, with one or two fixed GSh-23 guns and 200–400 rounds of ammunition, and SPPU-22 pods with traversable barrels for strafing, from 0° to −30° and carried 280 rounds of ammunition in each (they were most often carried by the Su-17/-20/-22 as well as the Su-25/-39 in pairs).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gryazev-Shipunov_GSh-23

Btw,there are 6 barrel versions nowadays!

Proper doctrine calls for operation in pairs-another TAV is doing the same thing from the opposite axis. The gun cameras and electro optics accurately direct the 3000+ rounds onto the target and within seconds there's pieces of burned out Land Cruisers and BH 'tards all over the savanna.

At 10 $ per round and given CPFH of 3000 $ some 30000$ + an hours flight time for a pair of TAVs or 36000 $ has been consumed. Another facet of warfighting ignored by fangirls has been met-COST! Ofc,dumb bombs, rockets and PGMs can be deployed as and when needed.
Nemesis4you, pls come in!

An Islamic cleric, Kallamu Musa Ali Dikwa has revealed that members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Borno State have been kidnapping Christian passengers and leaving the Muslim ones to go their way at roadblocks.

Dikwa, who is also the Director General, Centre for Justice on Religion and Ethnicity in Nigeria, made the disclosure on Friday.

Speaking with SaharaReporters, he said for three weeks now, the terrorists have been stopping vehicles along Maiduguri- Damaturu Road at Mainok and kidnapping motorists and commuters without any disturbance.

He said,
“This has been going on for two to three weeks now, along Maiduguri-Damaturu Road. When ISWAP kidnap passengers in a bus, they keep the Christian passengers captive and release the Muslim passengers, this is not just once, it has been happening. They just stop the car, enter into the bush, release the Muslims and hold the Christians captive.

“Just recently, a bus driver was stopped and they asked how many Christians are in the bus, he said two, they picked those two and the rest continued on their journey. This thing is getting to another dimension.

“Our people are afraid. We don’t even have security. It is terrible. Yet, northern leaders are already holding political meetings, thinking of who wants to be the next president of Nigeria when insecurity is ravaging the nation.”

Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah recently wrote to the United States House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee on Religious Freedom, alleging the persecution of Christians in Nigeria based on their faith and not crimes.

This isn't a fair analysis if they hadn't made overhead passes he would have been captured, that's by the way Pilot extraction in a hot zone that is densely forested isn't easy at all Putting into cognizance the fragile nature of helicopters even a corn shrub can damage the rotor of a helicopter if care isn't taken, you can't even insert troops in the middle of nowhere just like that as that could be also disastrous. Kudos should be given to both the Pilot and the first responders abeg, no be everything we go dey pick fault, even the US surferred a devastating ambush when a Chinook was brought down with soldiers inside in Afghanistan in similar operation to extract one of the special forces agent in 2005. na too much Hollywood dey make us feel say some of these operations are piece of cake.

I've searched but HAVEN'T found ANYTHING specific on how EXACTLY the jet was downed.
It wasn't a SAM OBVIOUSLY and not an engine failure so I'm thinking a lucky shot, a 1 in a 1000 14.7 mm round fired blindly.
Does anyone have the details?

obviously the bandits were lucky.
They're several cases ISWAP and BHT fired at NAF platforms when they strike pretty much hard to hit and they get toasted

Most likely it's a lucky shot from from a 20mm round or .50Cal to either the Hydraulic systems, the engine or fuel system.
Bandits have MANPADs but luckily for us haven't gotten warheads yet.
