Catholic is the beginning of Christianity? I am afraid you are mistaken.... Jesus Christ's Church began in Jerusalem, and His followers were first called Christians in Antioch about 300 years before your Catholic church was established.

The Catholic church was only one of the first churches of it's kind but most definitely not the first. Only through use of political power of manipulation of religious narrative of the time was what you know today as the Catholic church able to ascend to power over the others.

Christianity was very different then, go and check the Christianity tree. Different factions were using different scriptures, each had their own believe. It was the Catholic that joined everyone together. Even the bible you use now, you know em Catholic removed some books from it?

Sure, the Bible we have today came through the Catholic pipeline but that does not mean, in any way or form, that the root of Christianity began with the Catholic church.

But I don't subscribe to that which was discussed or debated at Nicene - neither do I subscribe to their doctrines on such things as the Trinity and the Holy Spirit.

Well, it may seem that way on the surface but I doubt you can even link much of Christianity to even that which is the Nicene creed.

Catholic is not the beginning of Christianity. It is the beginning of "Christianity" as practised today by many (which is actually the major problem of Christianity).

Christianity began with Christ coming and sacrificing his life for humanity. Those that believed and followed him at the first were the first Christians. They formed communities in each city/location they found themselves, shared things together and also went around proselyting. This didn't go down well with established Jewry, the idolatrous communities of those days, and the Roman Empire. They were persecuted on every front. This persecution was taken to some crazy level by the Roman emperors who didn't like the idea of a God being preached in their enclave (where they themselves were considered as some god). So, Christians were basically living in caves, catacombs and other hidden places to avoid persecution. It was when Emperor Constantine became a Christian that people were free to practise Christianity in the Empire. Due to various schools of thought, he brought the church under a unified system (adding one or two elements of Roman paganism to its tenets). This was the birth of organised Christianity and the Roman Catholic church, which is also the beginning of political, material and economic "Christianity" which is still being confused with true Christianity to this day.
