To get full funding with 1230 is nearly impossible. If he wants full funding, he should retake SAT... He should target at least 1420. With 1230, he can get Scholarships and his family will contribute some amount. He can also explore community colleges in US .
Duisburg:
My brother got 1230 in his SAT. Can anyone suggest a school he can get admission and full funding.

He is going for Bachelor in Journalism.

Regards.

I will not like us to go on and on about this. I have never met Fairheart in my life and I’ve never done any transaction with him. I commend people that come here and help people for free but please don’t castigate them if they want to charge any fees for their personal time especially when you can easily ask on this thread and get a reply. Also, the seldom times he charges should not remove all the ones he has done for free. Lastly, coming here once in a while to help one or two people is totally different from trying to help 200 in a season. Thank you.
You claim to have never met or done any transactions with him, how then are you able to come up with the statistics you mentioned. Obviously, you’re one and the same. Once again, SHAME ON YOU.

Hi Pefuele,

What is QR result? And what will NCDC upload? Please explain the process for me. Thanks!

QR is your result that is uploaded by the testing lab/clinic/ hospital to the NCDC website. Once NCDC approves you will be sent an email from NCDC on how to access your result.

Good day, I have been going through this thread for months now and have finally decided to embark on this journey.
I would pls want direction as it relates to choosing an appropriate course. I have over 9 years working experience working with a government agency. I am in my 40s , so finished my undergraduate studies a long time ago but intend on going for a masters program now.
The issue is although I have been working in the logistics unit, its not the conventional "logistics and supply chain management kind of job description. A friend who is currently studying in Texas advised that apply along the lines of my 1st degree, which is definitely not part of what I'm doing. I'm strongly tending towards A masters in Strategic Communication or similar courses, I can see career progression in that area.
Thinking of a visa approval at the end of the day, what would be your advice please? Thanks

I have been following quite a number of threads in preparation for my F1 visa interview, and I feel it’s only fair I share my experience so as to help someone else.

My visa interview took place in Lagos on the 22nd of July 2021 10:30am.

Visa Transcript -

VO - Good morning, can I have your documents
Me - I greeted him back and proceeded to hand him my i20 and intl passport.

VO - Why are you going to the US
me - I’m going for my Masters of Business Administration & Management at bla bla bla business school in Boston Massachusetts.

VO - Why did you choose this school.
Me - I chose this school because of its central focus on entrepreneurship as well as an exciting elective titled “Business Strategy in emerging Markets”. For some reason the VO guy nodded.

VO - Have you travelled out of Nigeria before?
Me - Yes

VO - Where have you travelled to?
Me - Australia

VO - I see you have a $30k scholarship, how do you intend to cover the rest of your tuition and living expenses?
Me - I have been awarded a student loan by a private company affiliated with the school (I proceeded to hand him a letter from the loan company (prodigy finance) + a sheet with the breakdown of the loan amount, interest rate and loan repayment terms)

VO - How long will it take to pay this money back?
Me - The maximum repayment term is 20years, however because the company uses an APR system, I intend to pay back much sooner to reduce the overall amount I’ll eventually have to pay back. (VO nodded for the second time)

VO - How do you plan to pay this money back?
Me - I have been offered a managerial position in my company (I proceeded to hand over my post-study employment letter from my employer)

VO - (flips through the letter to the salary breakdown section) This amount is your annual salary right?
Me - Yes it is

VO - Are you married?
Me - Yes I am

VO - Do you have any children?
Me - Yes I do. I have a one year old daughter

VO - Why aren’t you travelling with your family?
Me - My wife just started working at a new company less than 6months ago, and she isn’t entitled to an annual leave yet. My daughter is also very young and we have all the help we need in raising our daughter here in Nigeria, in the US we will have no such help. (VO nodded for the third time).

VO - (types fast and said nothing for what felt like 2 long minutes). I’ll be approving your visa, (handed me a white sheet of paper) you can pick your passport up at bla bla bla.

The whole process took less than 5minutes.

My advice to those going for their interview soon -

1. Read through as many visa transcripts on nairaland as you can find. I wasn’t asked any question that I wasn’t prepared for thanks to reading through a lot of transcripts.

2. F1 visa is classified as “non immigrant visa”. You need to show sufficient proof that you have no plans to immigrate permanently to the US. Saying it to the VO is not enough. There were alot of people who said the same “I will be returning to Nigeria after my studies” who got rejected. You need to show proof of ties to Nigeria.

3. Get your financial documents intact. For some reasons most people who had extended family members sponsoring them were denied (eg uncles, aunts, god father etc). You are better off being sponsored by parents or siblings. And they are so much more interested in the careers of your sponsors than just looking through their statement of account details. I didn’t notice anyone being asked for SOA, I certainly wasn’t asked as well (I think they have figured that some people come along with fake SOA).

4. Remain calm. Don’t be ruffled by other peoples interview, no two interviews are exactly the same. I personally tried my hardest not to focus on other people’s interview although for the most part it’s difficult not to hear what’s going on.

Wish you the best. Cheers.

Good after house, please I will be having my interview in two days time, please I just want to be certain, what documents am I supposed to take along. Thank you.

It’s very possible, the person should search for schools mostly historical black colleges and back it up with a good cgpa

Nice one! With this your unofficial WES Evaluation it shows you don’t graduate with a First class honor because if you do so it normally start from 3.70/4.0 with WES Evaluation irrespective of your last 60 CS.

What I am saying in Essence is that you have to work hard in both tests (GRE and TOEFL) so as to have a ramified, competitive and catchy application so that there won’t be a problem where with your great gpa you had a Gre score of 290 , TOEFL 79 you know it’s not perfect as it look mediocre to some TOP schools to even respond to your question at all.

So, try to balance it well by having a great GRE score and toelf. Success ahead !

Thanks for your unfiltered response sir, I so much appreciate it. Yes I didn't make a First class. And yes I'm already making preparations for GRE although not for TOEFL (Most U.S. schools don't ask for it as I've come realize). Thanks once again.

I-20
Passport photograph (2in x 2in)
International passport
DS-160 confirmation page

Receipts (MRV, SEVIS)
Visa Appointment confirmation page
Admission letter
Educational Documents
Financial documents (statement, sponsor letter)
Employment letter and/or study leave

You'll mostly need the first 4 but it's important to carry all along and only present a document to the VO when required.

I wish you a successful interview sir/ma.

Nice GPA! Make sure you take GRE and TOEFL and score at least 315(Q-160) and 90(S-23) respectively so as to be able to qualify for TAship/RAship into Top Schools, Middle schools and safety net schools in USA.

As for your degree, if you actually read Agricultural Engineering in your UG degree it’s suitable for you to have admit with full funding in IE(Industrial Engineering) as that is the direct degree many go for with your UG degree in USA as few schools have Agricultural Engineering in USA. Schools like Okstate University, UIUC etc have it but to enter IE is very easy for you with your good grades in your coursework which will make you worthy for both admit and funding.

However, 4 of my students got Admit , Full Funding (TAship ) & visa approval with PhD IE this Fall semester and they’re your professional brothers as they studied Agricultural Engineering as Their UG degree too.

Finally, as best in your class you already have a good Letter of recommendations to make your app to be more Competitive for TAship especially.

I wish you good-luck in your both tests!

Wow! Thanks a lot for this sir. I would really love to contact you, and as well, get across to my brothers in my field too in IE over there in the US. I already PM'd you Sir. I'll really be grateful sir.

You are most Welcome Teophilus! Sure , as a Nigerian Toefl is mostly waived for us but you actually need it in order to be more competitive for TAship/RAship , some grad program/schools mandated it for their prospective students etc as part of the application cycle. In short, don’t be lopsided in your profile at all rather than to have everything that’s been needed to get that funding and admit.

Most grad schools are waiving GRE now but that Toefl is very useful at this crucial time most especially that you are going for an engineering degree, I will advice you take that Toefl too.

If you look at the scoring abilities of the gre test takers now, many are scoring nothing less than 320 and majority of them don’t take Toefl rather than that GRE but it doesn’t ends there at all whatsoever as many have similar scores at hand but having that Toefl will give you a competitive and promising EDGE above others when evaluating your app.

A lot of you on here are heinous and bitter.

1. Fairheart clearly stated that if you reach out to him personally you can be charged.

2. At least 200 persons reach out to Fairheart every admission season to help with mock interview. How do you expect a grown man to waste his time helping people for free? If he had a job, do you know how much he’d make during these times? And about 80% of the 200, he does them for free while he charges the rest. Still, you people that can’t sacrifice your time to help other people are bent on spoiling his name.

3. I agree that his assumptions are sometimes bogus and he has this incorrigible “I know it all” complex but that shouldn’t negate all the good works he’s done. A lot of people on this thread have gotten visas because he chose to help them for free.

4. Information is being posted here everyday for everyone to read and all questions are answered, but if you still feel the need to inbox someone to help you and the person would spend at least 30 mins of his time, especially a grown man with bills to pay, then you must be ready if he decides to charge a fee for his time.

Shalom.
See Fairheart PA grin. How did you know that it is 200 prospective students that reached out to him every semesters/season? This is to tell ALL of us here that we have again caught you & your evil tactics once again. This guy called fairheart is a clone angry

Hi, I think your friend was very spot on , in telling you to apply for something in sync with your first degree. But then, work experience can fill in for this gap - if you feel the need to change your path to a differently related 2nd degree. You have more than 8 years experience that should suffice in augmenting this gap.

For visa approval, the consular would want to know what you've been doing since graduation from your first degree, and since it's entirely different you might as well want to master in your current place of assignment, I think that makes sense. Most especially if you'll be returning back to your current place of work. - seems like a continuity plan.

That's my 2cents. All the best.
