Please has anyone applied for Canada study visa outside of Nigeria ? I am confused on how to go about it especially my statement of account , since I am applying as a resident in Dubai, I am going to use there police certificate, do my medical here, and even IELTS here and I have a valid Resident ID card, but I don’t have a bank account over here, but as a a self sponsored I have the money required in my Nigeria account , does it make sense if I apply from Dubai and use a statement of account from a Nigeria bank?

Thanks

Would someone please be kind enough to answer this, my sister also falls in the category.

Merci.

Your biggest concern should be home tie. That bank statement is not an issue. It's always difficult to get approval in a country when you're not a permanent resident, which implies you're not very established in the country.

Lekiboboe:

Below are Some reasons I feel people Prefer Colleges, and I would be talking based on Post Graduate Certificate - PG. Cert (this is based on my own little research & the below content is open to scrutiny)

- There are 2.1/first Class Graduates who are not interested in doing a Masters, so they opt for PG. Cert programs in Colleges cos some of them needs hands-on experience required by Canadian Employers, which PG.Cert in Colleges offer, though for them to apply for a study Visa they must explain with very cogent reasons on their SOP why they are going for a PG. Cert programs instead of a a Masters degree.

You might need to watch this brief YouTube video to see the reasons why some people go for College programs, most especially PG.Cert Programs. There is an assumption in the Canadian Job Markets that Master Degree holders are over qualified for a Particular position cos even the boss of the Organization/firm is just an ordinary diploma holder, but only upgraded himself with relevant certifications and relevant skills

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0YlD2MU010

If you love Research and you want to be an Academia or you are going for an Health/Medicine Related field, a Masters degree, PHD would be essential.

- There are people with 2.1 or First Class with 5-10years Work Experience in a Job not related to what they study, such person can't do a Masters so they opt for PG.Cert programs related to their work experience from a college

- 2.2 or 3rd Class is not able to go for Masters, but are eligible for a PG. Cert program in a college as related to their degree.

- Admission to most colleges don't take long, and requirements are not harsh, unlike the requirements for Masters, PHD.

- College Programs (PG. Cert) are flexible

Am sure there are more reasons why some people opt for college than a university, await more contributions from the house
and the "Oga kpata kpata" of them all, it is cheaper than m.sc and 85% of those doing it wants to migrate without crushing there pocket(s).

Hello Everyone, i want to thank you all for your prompt response each time a question is asked, there is so much love here, May God continue to bless you all IJN. Please those that have applied together with their family for a study permit, did all get approval together at once or different times? if at different times, what did u do during the wait times, how did you handle it? Gcms notes for my husband is out, not sure i completely understand the whole thing, but the pre assessment note is blank while notes at the end stated the enquiry i sent to the MP was responded via mail as criminality and medicals passed, second note says address of employer n/a, third note says address of intended employment n/a, fourth note says brief description of duties open work permit, fifth note says signed by me=my name

Please gurus in the house, what does this mean? is it about to be approved ? i have sent to mail to the travel exemption mail box.

kindly advice me, what else can i do? @frankrobbin thank you so much for your advice, May God continue to bless you

Both paper based and computer based tests are the same (I.e same type of questions). The only difference is the way the tests are administered.
So for computer based, the reading, listening and writing tests will be administered on the computer.
Each test will be timed and will be automatically submitted when the alotted time is exhausted. Then the next section will be given to you.
For the listening test, you will be given headsets.
The writing will also be typed in the space provided on the computer.

I suggest you check youtube and also take some practice computer based test to get yourself familiar with it.

Apply from where you are. Use the dubai bank statement, try and pay atleast 1st year tuition fees upfront, you can also do a GIC if need be.

Use of a Family Member Representative for Online Applications (IMM5713) (required)

Is required if you have someone added as accompanying a main applicant. However, in this case the main applicant is a minor. Who will do the signature

Use of Representative (IMM5476) (required)

This is because, I am trying to help my aunty and her daughter - Was wondering if I should remove myself from the application so its will the mother helping her daughter complete the application.

Who do the SOP, the daughter of the Mother_

CHIKACIC:
My people from the bottom of my heart I say THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
As is our slogan: It will go round and end in praises!

Lonnnnnnnng Post Alert!!!!

One of my numerous mantras is: “As long as there is life, there is hope”.

First of all.....TO GOD BE ALL THE GLORY!
I choose this moniker “CHIKACIC” meaning: God pass Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC). My story will throw more light.

Personal profile:
I am 43. YES! I am a 43 year old lawyer, wife and mother of three (2 boys and 1 girl).

My quest for visa started way back in 2003/2004; during Law School/after the death of my father/NYSC.

First UK visa application (Visit) was in 2004 - refused.
Second UK visa application (Visit) in 2006 - refused.
Third UK visa application (Study) in 2008 - refused.
Fourth UK visa application (Visit) in 2011 - approved.
Fifth UK visa application (Visit) in 2020 - approved, but wasn’t used cos of COVID.

My interest has always been in the UK, because that’s where I have family members (a distant Uncle and 2 younger sisters), one of whom is my financial sponsor together with her husband and conquering my study visa refusal has always been on my bucket list.
Post 2008, I have continuously applied and received countless admission letters for graduate studies in the UK, but God said no it is not yet my time. God willing, I hope to check that off in my bucket list in the nearest future.
In 2013/2014, US Diversity Visa lottery caught my interest before it was later scrapped for Nigeria (heard we have exceeded our quota limit).
My interest in Canada started in 2015 as per Express Entry, but my scores and funds were low ( family of 4 then).
I gave birth to my daughter in April 2017, which was the year they had the lowest score till date in the Express entry (FSWP) history. (415 in April and 413 in May). My score was fluctuating between 420/414. Unfortunately, I missed that opportunity because I stopped monitoring the program during my pregnancy. I got to know about the scores later in the year. Mennnn, e painnnn me, I no go lie. Since then, the scores has not favored me because of age (the policy of -5 marks after every birthday). So all eyes moved to study visa. The rest they say is history.

BUT I WILL STILL TESTIFY TO KEEP HOPE ALIVE:

First time applicant to Canada.

Upfront Medical: February 10
Submitted online with IELTS: March 1
(This was the IELTS I wrote in April 2019 for Express Entry to expire April 2021). I also wrote another one in March 2021 as the previous one is about to expire.
Biometric Request: March 2
Biometric Completed: March 4
I didn’t notice when my Background check started.
NSE Request for POF: March 5 to expire on April 5 (which I ignored because of UK sponsors).
Medical Passed: March 9

Then eerie silence.......no update whatsoever for almost 5 months. (March 9 to July 21). This platform helped me a lot during this period. You all are the bomb!

I think sometime in May I sent a LOE to Nairobi via web form and email explaining why I ignored the NSE request because my POF came from the UK. Receipt acknowledged, but no official response.

Then in June I did three things:

1. 7th June, I sent an email to Nairobi, Lagos, London, and Beijing offices to know the status of my application, which has exceeded the standard processing time. Got the generic response.

2. Ordered for my GCMS notes via Anon123 on June 25th - yet to receive that. (Now I am very very curious to know how the whole thing went down).

3. June 30th, I sent a mail to the MP representing my school location and on July 14th, I got a feedback from the MP’s office that my Medical and Background checks are complete, and Eligibility is under review.

NOTE: As at the time I got this feedback, there was no update (ghost or otherwise) on my IRCC profile from March 9th (my last update as per Medicals) until yesterday 4:39pm and 4:40pm July 21st 2021, when I got three consecutive emails asking me to check my account for messages.

Na pounding heart/trembling hands I take login ooo.
The first thing I noticed was that my eligibility is under review and I was like oh noooo more waiting. Then I scrolled down and saw application APPROVED!
In front of my husband and children, I went down on my knees thanking and praising GOD, because na in hand I dey/na in hand I carry myself put along with my imperfect application package throughout this journey.
MY PEOPLE, WITH GOD BY YOUR SIDE:
IF YOU CAN DREAM IT, YOU CAN ACHIEVE IT!
IF THAT DESIRE IS STILL IN YOUR HEART NOTWITHSTANDING THE OBSTACLES AND SETBACKS YOU HAVE ENCOUNTERED, KEEP HOPE ALIVE. IT WILL SURLY COME TO PASS.

TO GOD BE ALL THE GLORY!!!!!!!!!

Wawu!!!! Congratulations Sis. God is faithful. I have hope with this story of yours. 42 year old lawyer with 4 kids and I keep praying that it shouldn't be that my time has passed. Waiting for the memorial university portal to open in September and then we start the journey. I tap into your grace of getting admission despite being a first time applicant. Indeed Canada will favour you my sister. Go and conquer.
