The "assassination" was staged (this is the belief I held all along) to garner sympathy for a military coup plotter and once his job was done, he was let go. The people had to be lied to that he had died. If he meant business, a suicide vest is an effective and inexpensive way.

The second thing is that if truly the dude intended to assassinate the president then he was summarily executed, same MO as Nigerian police. Simple.

When I saw that video I laughed. Very poor acting. Someone wanting to assassinate a whole president wouldn't use a kitchen knife. And even after beating the audio security he hesitated stabbing him in the neck. Or rather he waited long enough for the guards to pounce on him and overpower him.

I saw the video and thought this guy wasn't serious at all.

Also how come somebody was filming the right spot at at right time. The assassin leapt from beside the guy doing the filming.
