It’s still Valid to a certain extent but I would advise you to learn the skills attached to the degree so you would have an edge . Learn Coding, networks and network infrastructure try and learn some stuff about cyber security while you are at it . Most degrees in Nigeria are trash it’s your skills that count .

Computer science is a course for creative individuals. Not everyone can catch up with the computational requirements.

Some of lazy youths who went to school to waste their parents money are here running their mouth. Bring any course here and you see Oshodi under bridge agberos talking nonsense. One even said he regrets going for the course.

Courses are being handled by lecturers who have no clue about computers, they only teach theory without practical application.

If you are considering acquiring computer skills you better register in an online program like linda.com or teamtreehouse.com, even udemy is a good choice. In less than a year you become a pro and start earning good money and building your career.
Say what you know. Computer Science still lucrative in Nigeria. Oil companies are looking for them to hire. Ditto telecommunication companies. Don't discourage the Young man.

My only regret about it is "I should have learned programming separate before entering into school", anyway am in 300l and learning it on my own sha.

Don't mind them. Some Yahoo boys are here talking nonsense. Some of them didn't even get three credits talkless of getting admission but will run down any course someone is asking questions about here.

A CS degree will always be lucrative as long as you know what you're doing.
A friend of mine who read CS and Econs at oau got a job with a multinational shortly after graduation, #3mill per month. Although he did a course in data science.

For it not to be outdated you have to spend a lot both cash and time to get marketable skills related to Computer science or ICT or else you might just end up being a computer science teacher in a low paying 10 to 40k range)private secondary school.

It depends but I will advise you go for Computer Engineering which is taking lead of electrical and electronics engineering.

If you have a BSc in Computer Science or information Technology with a good programming skill, the sky is your starting point.

The problem most people have is that they depend on the outdated stuff they learned from now and want to apply it in the field. Upon graduating with a BSc in Computer Science, go and acquire some programming skills and you will be made for life.

Google is also developing a new suit called Google career certificates which is intended to help young people get qualifications and skills for high paying jobs without university degree. The suits is tailored for the millennials to learn in-demand skills online in 6 months and will be globally recognized as equivalent of a traditional university degree.
The question is, in the next 15 years, will certificates be required for most jobs?

In a world where computing courses are becoming the hottest things around, someone in Nigeria is asking if the mother of computing courses is still relevant? Someone even said he's regretting going for the course. It would seem people don't even know what they're studying. I need to visit Nigeria to see why everything seems upside down over there.

Good & start earning with your knowledge now so you won't also regret you didn't during your undergraduate days.
No matter how an amateur you are right now go for a coding major.....start earning by working as freelance to IT firms from the comfort of your workstation.
I have mentees that earn as much as $700 monthly via coding as undergraduates.....most fintechs look out for such undergraduate as hot cakes and cheaper IT labour.
