I'm an HSE supervisor, level 1-3 won't cost you more than 80k, make sure you do it with ISPON, other certifying bodies are fake and not accepted by most companies like SHELL, agip etc..
Then you will need someone in the field that will teach you so that you will have practical field experience.

Do you have a current offer or do you have anyone showing you the way? Which country or part of the world are you going?

It is a risk. In my opinion, If you can afford it and you have other skills, it may not be a bad idea. If you struggle to put the money together and you're planning to travel out, it may be worth it. If you can't afford it and you know nothing about the field apart from the name, the risk gets even bigger. Unless if you have other plans sha.

Make I talk true, I'm totally clueless about this part. Job postings that I have seen for HSE positions require more than 2 or 3 weeks of HSE training.

There are HSE Professionals and there are folks (especially engineers) that take such courses as an add-on to the feathers in their cap as they practice their profession or to increase their scope of influence within their organization.

In my opinion, HSE certificate alone can not help you if you do not have other skills to build on. This includes some education (I'm not just talking about degree here) and lots of soft skills, especially people management (I do not mean management skills o, but the art of dealing with all kinds of people - especially people that do not want to comply with what you have been told to enforce).

In some basic HSE roles, you get trained (on top of your certificate) and you only need to do what you're told - fire watch, safety watch, confined space watch, etc. In some other roles, you need to be very familiar with regulations, policies or even the trade you are working with. Of course, the path to get to these roles will be significantly different.

Health, Safety and Environment is quite broad and you have to focus on the aspect you want after acquiring the foundation Level 1-3. NEBOSH IGC/Diploma is recognised internationally.
There are roles like HSE, Safety Officer, HSSE, Food safety officer, Safety Auditor, Environmental officer and many more.
You can work in construction, catering, facility management, oil and gas, security, airport/seaport, manufacturing companies and any other industry. HSE is required in all industries but Naija has a poor safety culture. That’s why you see truck accidents and building collapse every time.

Come to Qatar, there are plenty of opportunities.... With HSE certificate, or even IOSH cert. . But naija is a dead country, I doubt if you can get a good job with that cert while still there. Good luck anyways.

HSE awareness is becoming increasingly relevant in most industries, so its definitely worth upskilling anyway you can.

I started by doing HSE 1-3 as well, although I was sponsored by my previous firm at the time in 2019, so I'm surprised its at that cost now.

If you are considering practising HSE abroad though, I would consider doing the IOSH Managing Safely Course and/or NEBOSH courses.

These ones are more respected internationally, currently doing the NEBOSH Construction Certification as construction is my industry and is even more specialised with great prospects once you've finished.

I've done NEBOSH IGC. I'm looking for a fairly grounded safety course I can do for construction as I am looking at going back to construction. I currently work with NBC which is more geared towards process safety.
I want to beef up my knowledge of construction safety.
I also heard IOSH has something related to that.

I won't advise you to go for it , I have level 1-3 certificate from ISPON and no work please learn other thing

Unless you are already employed, there is very little case for spending that money on HSE certification, worse still if it's not like NEBOSH IGC for example, then it's a local scam.

You just think what exactly you are going to do with that certification, if there's no definite end goal in sight, don't waste the money.

I did not even see the HSE 1-3 before now, please don't do it...don't waste your money, it's scam, if a company hires you, it takes only weeks to bring you up to speed on HSE.

That's a huge waste of money. I got mine in 2019 and has been useless till now! I've never gotten anything to do with it. Go for Bosiet or Crane operator instead. 400k for HSE 1,2,3 is waste of money.
