Hi everyone
I hope we're doing well. So I was a late starter to this thread(literally a week before my interview) but to GOD be all the Glory, my VISA was approved. I'm sory if the formatting is wrong but this was how it went, extremely brief too.

Pursiuing: Bachelors at MHC.
COA: 10k
Course of study: Computer science and Psychology(although everyone is undecided until their sophomore ending)

Interview: Thursday , July 29, 2021
Consulate: Lagos, Walter Carrington
VO: Good morning
Me: Good morning sir
VO: So tell me what you're going to do in the US
Me: I'll be studying at MHC to pursue my undergrad degree in CS and Psychology (I should have said bachelors but oh well)
VO: So what will you do with that combination(He was interested in what I said at this point)
Me: Conduct research and build a software for a Nigerian Organisation.
VO: Ok, who'll be funding you I see that most of your fees are covered by your school.
Me: My mother.
VO: What does she do?
Me: She's an entrepreneur.
VO: Alright, I'll be approving your VISA please come back in a few working days.....I didn't hear the rest.

And that was it guys, it wasn't more than 2 minutes. All I will say is, do quality r4search on your school and what your degree is going to achieve for you. They want to see that you know why you're going to school and you can actually afford it. Also, quote Mark 11: 24, believe in God's word and speak it into existence. God help you all in Jesus name, Amen.
Hearty Congratulations

If your initial appointment was Lagos or Abuja, you should have one more opportunity to reschedule in Lagos or Abuja.

So when you cancel the pending appointment, it goes with the emergency request.
Thereafter you book new appointment for either of the embassies using same log in details. Your MRV will pop up itself so you don't need to edit.
Just change location and pick earliest date you see, you then request an emergency appointment attaching your SEVIS receipt and I-20 explaining why you need to travel before a particular date.
Take notice of the tentative travel date, I made a mistake in mine. Be sure to look at it properly before imputing.
You're also supposed to update your Ds-160 to reflect location change.
Don't forget to double-check and take note of your new barcode confirmation number to make sure it's same on your new visa application.

Can you please explain how to update DS-160 location, do I have to create a new account because I can't modify my existing application.

Sure.
When you open the Ds-160 link, it pops up the state selection and captcha.
Put in the original city you registered, put the captcha and click on retrieve application.
Then put in your existing barcode confirmation number.
It'll then ask if you want to go to confirmation page or create new...
Click on create new and then pick the new city you want to be interviewed.
Review again cos you may need to fill in one or two things again but everyother thing you filled initially will remain because what you did was to retrieve.
Upload your passport and submit.
You'll get a new Confirmation code.

Emergency visa Approved Finally!!!!
Hello Vahn,
Congratulations on your ER approval. Please, I'm trying to check if this approval thing is based on resumption date or the time of application. Is 16th your earliest admission date or program start date? (If your earliest admission date is 16th, then your start date should be in Sept, right?)

I applied for ER at Abuja on July 15th too(though, very late into the night) and I'm yet to get any response...(My start date is in September though)...

Bro, within you, you know this package wouldn’t fly... come on! A tailor going for IT training in US? Why not learn the basic instagram and Facebook marketing here in Nigeria?

The line that actually killed the application is “I sow and sell”. She threw you a hook and you took it... come on, bro. That was your opportunity to “wow” her as a major designer for “A” list celebrity and brands.

No try this tailor and IT package again...abeg!

N/B : I just want to tell everyone here on this platform. No one on this Nairaland US student visa section has the power to give you visa. Only God, you and the visa officer make it possible. Why i saying this? I want to tell you my experience with Fairheart. I am not writing this to spite him or make vituperative statements about his person- to me he is a great guy. I wrote Fairheart on whatsapp with the help of a friend who gave me his number. I told him all the issue I am having about being denied 4 times (two B1B2 tourist visa in Nigeria, one B1B2 tourist visa and J1 work and travel visa in Ankara -Turkey). I wanted to have a mock interview with him and he charged me 50k saying he doesn't do it for free. I said that's too much and I can't afford it at the time so I removed the mock interview out of the equation.
Then I asked him his candid opinion about my case because I was helpless at the time and that was due to my past experiences. He then told me that I should remove my wife from my dependant and come to Nigeria and apply. He said it would be difficult to get a US student visa from Turkey as a Nigerian. I told him okay that I will take my chances since I have already book my interview date. So I told him that if I don't get it then I can come to Nigeria and apply.

Behold my brothers and sisters, me and my wife got out visa today. Why am I saying this? Let no one tell you that you can't get visa no matter anywhere you are and no matter how many times that you have been denied. It's only the grace of God, you and the visa officer that decides the outcome of your visa interview.

That will be all for now. Me and my wife are celebrating and popping champagne...shhhhh...no disturbance. Lols!

Every body knows the bolded, don't tell us you just realized it after getting your visa. grin grin grin

You were approved for a visa and so congratulations, this part of your story is not necessary. That you contacted @fairheart meant you needed his assistance and since all of that conversation was private, you should have let it remained so, since there was no scam involved.

What he told you is a good advice, it's advisable applying for visas from your home country but not impossible to get it.

You're still going to have further private conversations with others, just let it remain so.

All the best in your endeavors

grin grin that Twoods guy?.

I almost committed suicide in 2018 when this dude quoted me and said "you are failure, just forget about American dream and re-enroll afresh in a Nigerian University to get a better grade", "what were you doing when your mates were making 2.1 and first class".

As God will have it, walspring came to my rescue for TOEFL and GRE 50% discount as well as sevis payment. Fairheart came through for mocks. He was calling me with his credit days to my interview. Lagosismyhome came through for motivation and mentorship.
To the glory of God and shame of Twoods, I will be graduating with an MBA next week Friday July 30. With an estimated cgpa of 3.7/4.0.

Also got several honors including Beta Gamma Sigma which is the highest honor any business student can receive in the whole world.

Congratulations on your achievement. Happy for your success stories.
Remain motivated as you face other life challenges.

cogngratulations .......I Tap into this testimony

Firstly, I ascribe all the glory to God for His mercies and grace . If you believe in God keep believing, trusting and having faith do not let anyone tell you otherwise. Never underestimate the power of prayer and Grace!
I'd also like to say a big thank you to this platform for the wealth of information/knowledge herein and also transcripts shared, which I richly benefited from.

1st Attempt:
Appointment - 7th June 2021
Consulate - Lagos
Window - 5
Status - Denied.
It was a day of dishing out blue paper, for every 10-20 people interviewed, only 2 or 3 were approved while I was still there (not exagerating, you can ask those that had their interview on that day). I was interviewed by a dark elderly woman (black American in her 50's). On this day I was just gradually recovering from Malaria, so my voice wasn't as audible as it should.

V.O: Good morning, pass me your i20 and passport.
ME: I did.
V.O: Why are you going to the States?
ME: I'm going for my masters in Architecture with concentration in Sustainable Architecture (types...).
V.O: Who is sponsoring? (Glancing at my i20 and then staring at me).
ME: My mom (said where she works)...I also have some personal savings which will cater for my living expenses (types...).
V.O: Do you have proof to show that?
ME: I passed my sponsorship letter (glances through).
V.O: switches off mic and says I should give her
some time, she went inside with my documents...after 2mins she comes back, types for a while and then reached for the blue paper, returns my documents and passport and says I can try again (putting on a pity face). I was in shock as I didn't see that coming and didn't know what she went inside to confirm.

2nd Attempt:
Appointment - 29th July 2021
Time - 7:30am
Consulate - Abuja
Window - 7
COA - $32k
Funding - Nill
Status - Approved (8:30am).
My interview lasted for about 3mins. Interviewed by a beautiful white lady in her 30's. The two guys before me on the row were denied. Immediately I saw that and I was next to be interviewed, I resumed my words of affirmation, declaring that "my case is different, I shall not return with my passport" ( I was the first to be approved In my qeue).

V.O: Good morning
ME: Good morning.
V.O: Place your fingers for your biometrics
ME: I did.
V.O: I can see you're going to BG for your Masters in Architecture (starts typing...).
ME: Yes, that's correct...then quickly added with a concentration in Sustainable Architecture (nods head and continues typing...).
V.O: Will you be focusing on Green Architecture?
ME: Yes, exactly (keeps typing...).
V.O: What will this degree do for you?
ME: I intend to come back to Nigeria and hope to utilise this specialised knowledge and skill acquired in creating a niche for myself as an Architect, and my company where I currently work, here in Nigeria as I would be one of the pioneers to bring this back home (nods head and continues typing...).
V.O: What do you currently do?
ME: I'm an Architect in one of the leading real estate/ construction company in Banana Island, Lagos (nods head and continues typing...).
V.O: Who is sponsoring this?
ME: My mom (said where she works)...I also have some personal savings which will cater for my living expenses (nods head and continues typing...).
V.O: What did you go for on your last visit?
ME: Vacation.
V.O: Congratulations I will be approving your visa.
ME: Thank you.

Then she went ahead to talk of the strict Covid-19 protocol and all but I actually didn't hear anything just kept my gaze on her and was smiling behind the mask as I remembered what peeps here always say about "not hearing anything" (facts).

Advice/word of encouragement:
DO NOT Giveup on your dreams. Stay focused! A delay/denial isn't the end of Life, Try Again! (Na who giveup carry last). Above all, Trust God! Pray, fast if you can. DO NOT tell Lies. Speak with Confidence, maintain eye contact at all time. God that did it for me will do same for you (What God Cannot Do Doesn't Exists) GO GET YOUR VISA's! #Believe.

Congrats

There is definitely an association between his fashion designing business and IT. The interviewee just failed to demonstrate it sufficiently as it relates to him.

Moreover, deferring his admission to apply for a job, although changing his circumstances won't convince a VO, unless he decides to defer his admission for 3 years.

Stick to your story, just make your story make sense.
