I commend the Ugandans, Ethiopians and Kenyans. They have already begun bagging medals in the long distance track events. They are representing the continent well.

Long distance running is an easy African thing...It has always been.. The conditions over there favours them... The weather, the stature of the people and all... They have harnessed it to their advantage and it's been helping them win medals...
Funny enough, the north of Nigeria has almost similar climatic condition as East Africa, plus the nomadic lifestyle of some of them that makes it easy for them to trek long distances without getting tired.. but are we doing enough to harness those potentials? I doubt it...

The talents that abound in this country is numerous...We just don't have the right tools (leaders) to harness it .. That's why most Nigerians go abroad and make it easily...

Why did a woman run against men in the final round? Is something wrong with Nigeria?
They made the same mistake Ukraine made in the trials. A sensible team would put the women in the middle and men at the last laps. Smh.

Everything is not gloom and doom our 100 meter athletes Blessing and Nkwokocha ran well and qualified for the semis. Okagbare ran a good time despite easing up towards the end. Nwokocha who looks a successor to Blessing ran a personal best of 11.00 which is very good just a matter of time before she dips below 11 seconds. Okagbare still has the best chance of making the finals of the two. She has been given a good lane (Lane 5) in the semis let's just see how it goes.

Blessing is final to me already. Those brits that were hot and scary before this tourney all faded below her eased up run overall time. Nwokocha is like another Carmelita Jeter in the making.

Who also notice Okagbare ran but wasnt happy one bit. The mood of the camp is affecting all the athletes. Tueh to Sunday Dare and the entire Sports Sector of Nigeria. Same old same old. Not expecting shockers if they suspend all of them for speaking out like Oparanozie was. Time to put passionate sqaurepegs in square holes.

i saw the ease with which okagbare ran. despite that we still need to go to the drawing board. baring injury to the other top athletes from usa, Jamaica and ivory coast i doubt if she can win a medal. i see she has slimmed down, which is equally good for her.

I watched twice and if one wasnt watching the other athletes, you'd think Blessing was being lax, but the energy Philip in Lane 5 was exerting shows Okagbare was way way ahead especially the last 40m.

I'm having this ominous feeling that this Olympics disaster is an omen of what's to come with our football team in the World Cup qualifiers.

It seems that every aspect of Nigerian life is crashing down and our sports seem to not be an exception.

I hope I'm wrong, but I won't hold my breath.

One Spoon we no go win. Luck ser don taya for the lax on sports by sport administrators. The youths are seen as kids that must respect elders always. Smh. Oldies of FlexEnd Junction!!

Played exceptionally. Was visibly playing under pressure to perform, though.

For me, the best attacker on the pitch before Dessers' introduction.

Created two great chances for himself, on another day would have scored. He rarely misses chances.

Onuachu offers more to the team than Dessers. But Dessers' style of play (evident in the equaliser) better suits Genk.

In the first two games of the season, Cyriel Dessers has missed 2 clear-cut chances, Onuachu missed only 10 in 38 games.

In the first two games, Cyriel Dessers has created 2 big chances for his teammates, Onuachu managed only 7 in 36 more games.

So just as I said, Genk are losing the clinicality of Onuachu for the all-round play of Cyriel Dessers.

Choose your death.

That club is not serious at all
No one will buy Onauchu for 30M especially this period

Same situation with Sadiq Umar. If not for the overvaluations, both would've been in new clubs right now

Something is strange here. She was tested since so why are they bringing the results now, after she has qualified for semis? Does Okagbare doping sound like something you'd likely hear?

Can't this be appealed. At least let her run today pending confirmation.

On paper, this was one of our most talented contingent to an Olympics game in a while... But it has turned out to be a disaster on all fronts..

I won't doubt the story of the ilajes hiding under water for 3 days. Those people practically live all their lives on water.... Same with a lot of people in the Niger Delta.... But having talents is one thing, harnessing it is another... Nigeria isn't a country that invest enough in it's youth... Our leaders are more interested in oil and politics that would fetch them quick money that they will stash away in foreign countries...

You are right but please let it stop here,

Before in-house politicians will turn it on its head

it doesn't look good even if she runs and the B sample comes back positive what is the point. feel so bad right now because all she achieved in the past will not be easily remembered instead drug cheat will be what people will attach to her name.

this Olympics is really one kind not that it's time we've had awful games but the avoidable drama with this one is just too much.
realistically our best medal prospects are still in with a shout but I don't know again because anything with the slightest potential to go wrong has gone wrong

I think what he had in mind was that, a fit Osimhen being in the squad to play any team is not supposed to be news. It is something expected normally.

For now we don't have a government that is passionate about sports development when we do, things may turn around. Sports development is one of sure ways to curb youth unemployment

I just pray we start to do things right someday
