Sometimes when you read submissions such as this it brings to mind the forward planning by the US (I am not an apologist of US policies by the way).

However, this scenario perfectly depicts the plot in the best-selling novel titled Executive Order written by Tom Clancy.

The question in all of this as was depicted in the novel is that would all allies coordinate their activities in synchronism which would divide the US attention on the major threat?

In the novel, the major threat was a Biological Warfare and here in this scenario the threat is a Nuclear head Warfare.

In all of this, for the US to have planned for such eventualities in the future from early 90s when the novel was released shows that the country plays simulated war games and prepare for such.
