I intentionally picked up this snake after seeing it's belly pattern. It bit me, but it was just a bite. I mean with teeth not fang. I was initially scared, but I knew it wasn't venomous.

That eye stuff example you gave is not always correct.

The skin of that snake looks like a cobra but the head looks odd ( will investigate more)

Why will anyone be taking this kind of unnecessary risk by picking up a live snake, who even has time to be checking all the features of a non venomous snake?

I will always run when I see snake, I don't even try to kill them.
