100% true.

But I completely oppose the claim that moving to Turkey as a youngster will regress your game.

Turkey doesn't focus on youth, doesn't mean the league is an abomination.

If you are a youngster, move there, get good numbers and the big clubs will come. Simple.

Your last paragraph does not always holds true

Henry did wonders there but no big clubs come calling

The league is not even designed to help youngsters excel and blossom

There is an U16 and U14 football league in Jos. It's called Tsenba Wummen League and 20 teams participate in each league.
Pictures are from the Tsenba Wummen League's Twitter handle.

Picture 1: FC Izam vs City Rollers
Picture 2: FC Izam vs Mees Palace U16
Picture 3: Mees Palace vs Relentless FC U14
Picture 4: Rahbam vs Jazzy Stars U16

I think the kids generally look U16/U14

How come despite Onyekuru play in that league no big club came calling? A youngster in Belgium is rated higher and well priced than a youngster in turkish league

Thanks for enlightening me on the 2008 and 2013 mid success in europe will check further though

This is 100% false. Onyekuru got his big move from Everton to Monaco after winning the league with Galatasaray.

The £5.5m profit they made was their highest profit for a player who has never played for their first team.

The topic is not which league is better, but if the Turkish league is developmental or not. If youngsters will gain exposure playing there.

If Europe is the criteria for quality, then you are contradicting yourself.

3 Turkish teams have reached the Quarter Finals of the UCL. No Belgium club have ever achieved this.

Turkey has one Europa League semi-finalist, Belgium has never reached this stage.

Yet you rate Belgium as a better development league.

Club Brugge was European cup runner up while Anderlecht won UEFA cup.

Our own etebo just got a move to Watford in English top flight after playing in same Turkish league so I don't see why a player can't move to big leagues or teams after getting a good season in the league

MRI scan should be mandated in our grassroot leagues so we can start solving our problems from the foundation.

Good development..
Lagos used to have this youth league back then... around 2010 or so.. Youth teams from different LCDAs would compete against each other...
I wonder why they stopped..

We really need to put more effort into grassroot sports development in this country

Delighted with the Rodriguez news.

Not only is his style of play bad for Everton, Iwobi can now shine as a 10.

Of course I can't say they are all U16/U14, but some of these clubs have had these boys for years. For example, Mees Palace FC has U10, U14 and U16 boys teams. Some of these boys have been with them for years.
MRI is helpful, but the reality is that we cannot test everyone.

Let's hope he is more consistent this season..
The biggest problem Iwobi has is that he isn't consistent... It could be due in part to the fact that he is often used in different roles at his club... If indeed Benitez is planning to use him as their main playmaker, that's a huge responsibility for him..He has to step up...

Wow Benitez is bold by informing Rodriguez that he isn't required at his team while hoping that an inconsistent iwobi to replace him

Chimezie Metu and Coach Brown's comments on the lack of support they received from the FG are an indictment of sports administration in this country. The NBBF can kiss goodbye to any efforts at attracting foreign players in the future.

The man has been very incompetent and I just hope this doesn't affect our world cup qualifying games starting next month, When Balogun complained about some things regarding NFF and the sports ministry they blamed it on Covid.
No wonder the likes of Lookman and co are yet to get their clearance after 18 months plus the woeful and disgraceful performances at the Olympics.
