There is difference between a computer scientist and a road side web developer who just read Udemy course.


It's like saying we don't need civil or mechanical engineer because we have bricklayers and kamurudeen mechanics.

For you to get a job in most countries...number 1 criteria in the job advert is.

1. You must be a graduate or master degrees in computer science.

It's Nigeria where a company higher a web developer who studied agric studies and pay 70k per month.

Everything is upside down in Nigeria.

Computer professionals are king in the USA.

Don't let Nigeria situation deform your brain

B.Sc in Computer Science no matter where you get your degree (University wise or Country wise) will always be lucrative. 'Will even be more and more lucrative by time unless the world decides not to use Computers again, and if you will agree with me, that's impossible. Not after we've known it's efficiency, speed, reliability and other great features and functions of the Computer System. This has already answered the major part of your question.

But, now I think there is a second part to your question. Is it still advisable to study Computer Science in Nigeria these days? And my answer is Yes. You see, sincerely our environment, I mean our nation now doesn't seem to favour not only Computer Science graduates but all graduates. So the problem is a general problem. But the great exception about Computer is that you don't really need a degree to operate a computer, so now having a degree will be an added advantage.

There are lots and lots and lots of opportunities in Computer Science as degree holder and non-degree holder, whether you are in this country or not. So if you want to study Computer Science, I will gladly advice you to go ahead, know what you really want in the study because it is a very broad and diverse discipline. And with determination, faith and prayer, you shall succeed.

I am currently a 200l computer science student.
Just that I don't want a situation whereby after all the stress, I will still be struggling after school.

I see alot of comment and I shake my head. Only if you know the worth of that degree in the WEST. That degree was my ticket to relocate out of Nigeria. After settling down here, I tried to talk all my siblings into taking a CS degree but they really do not understand me because they can't see what I see and have seen. I currently work as a software engineer outside nigeria. While others are lamenting about being unable to get jobs after graduation here in Canada, I had multiple offers before graduation. And within two years, I had worked for very big brands in Canada. If you have a CS degree regardless of where you get it from, the language is universal. Its a degree you can have from Nigeria or anywhere else without the need to take any conversion exam of any sort. That degree is a goldmine. As long as you can at least code averagely, the sky is the limit.

The majority of entry-level cybersecurity jobs do not require coding skills. However, being able to write and understand code may be necessary for some mid-level and upper-level.

So for a start...you don't need to be a programmer...but if you looking to go deep in cyber security...you will have to learn some language at some point...


Somedy you will grow to become a Cybersecurity analyst...and your job will be to protects company hardware, software, and networks from cyber criminals by cracking and hacking a malicious virus transferred by the criminal to your organization systems...

Firstly you need to start with introduction since you have no experience...

Find a program/course on introduction to Cyber security...

I can actually help you get one at Open University UK...you will need to take the course for some week and sit for exam online...make a 75% mark then you get a certificate from Open University UK...

Can get you the link but I'm going back to bed now ..so if you can wait ..will get the link and forward it to you later in the day.

A Computer Scientist decides to either be a programmer or graphics designer, or probably be both

If you choose the path to be a graphic designer...after few years you will find it not hard but too lazy to navigate to programming because you can always make your logo without cracking ur brains...

The truth is, Phyton is not hard but your brain and motives is trying to dodge something challenging

So dedicate your mind bro and take up the challenge

Lastly pls don't depend on self taught...it's like a punishment
Find a physical mentor around you...he/she will guild you and motivates you...
