I think that was my mistake. But I was trying to show that I always send her money everymonth just as a sister.

Hello Ola, let’s always remember that this is life where everything doesn’t always go as planned.
I have seen people who get accommodation in 1-2 weeks, i have seen others as well who don’t secure a place in like 2 months.

If i tell you can secure a place in 20 days, what happens in you are unable to do so? Have you got extra cash for more days on airbnb?(if you do then you can go with the airbnb option, whereas if you don’t it could be a risky option)

If i were in your shoes i would accept the accommodation my family is offering at Manchester. The location might not meet my requirements but at least i could stay there and gradually look for an accommodation in my desired location without being under any pressure.

Living in a shared accommodation as someone highlighted can be very challenging even with your kids but who knows you might get a very good place.

Just to add the time scale required to find a place depends on a lot of factors such as if you have enough money to pay upfront for rent as you are new to the uk, if you going to rent directly from landlord or agent, if you find an accommodation that suits the family needs and so on.

In summary stay away from any option that puts the family under unnecessary stress, duress and financial strain and most importantly pray about your plans.

I have always been curious as well but To be honest i think this area isn’t black and white. I spend some time on the visitor visa thread and i have seen a few people who don’t include the applicants SOA but still get a positive outcome. Furthermore, i think the age -and status of the applicant plays a big role. I realise people with parents who are aged or retired always tend to have a positive outcome when they apply without the applicants SOA.

Me i did a visit visa for my mum in march, i fully sponsored her trip but I didn’t take chances…. I submitted her bank account as normal with regular inflow. Also i included all her business doc alongside all my docs because i stated she was self employed.

Not sure about a younger person, but the latest case I am aware of is that of my aunt (62yrs old). Fully sponsored by her nephew in the uk and she didn’t show her SOA. Her visit visa was granted

She has no ties to nigeria...she would need a job that demands she comes back..or a business or something that implies she cannot decide to remain in the UK after all the vacation enjoyment

If she can leave your parents and go for holiday means the ties and dependency to go back to them isn't strong even if she is their care giver

Like others mentioned, not putting in the statement of account will have helped or even attaching a cover letter to explain the low funds and the reason for that.

Think of this, she's self-employed and also a dependent earning £400 PCY and the next thing on her plate is to travel to UK for holiday, to do what? Work?

Good thing is you learnt the hard way though it is painful

I wish you consulted elders in the general visa forum before sending the application they might have called ur attention to the things you missed

If one get post graduate admission offer with placement and the second admission offer offer comes with no placement (though the placement offer fee is more with 5k but not a problem)

In terms of getting job, which of the 2 offers will predispose applicant to job opportunities?

What happens if the school can't secure for me a placement?

Can student be allowed to do the placement outside UK if a company outside UK is willing to take me in for the placement ?

If UK secure me a placement, will it be a payment job? I mean will be earning salary/wages?

Pls if you have experience in this regard I will appreciate your input

The bank statement was the main issue as pointed out. Is it wise to re-apply but without using the bank statement again?

She needs to go back to the drawing board and try to tidy up her financial outflow and inflow...she needs to build a clean and healthy 5-6 month bank statement

She must prove financial stability and also show ties to naija...make it look like she cant wait to come back naija...

I wouldn't suggest reapplying so soon, and because the records will be there, omitting the statement on a 2nd application would also raise a reg flag


Just give it a couple of months and let her account show that she spends just about 30-40% of her income and saves the rest...find a way to highlight her business to be dependent on her so that she would want to spend about a week or tops 2 weeks in the UK to just rest

This (bolded) is a faster but expensive route because it will take another 6-9months to tidy her finances and to “present” a tie to Nigeria

Once your sister is above 18 years old, you really have no control over her ..........

If the visa is granted and she decides not to return, you guys cannot force her ..... You gerrit .......

A couple of years ago, when my younger sister applied. She was refused, according to the jobsworth that dealt with her file, my mum's bank statement was FAKE ..........

My younger sister was working and earning well..........

My elder sister and I put our legal wigs on, appealed the decision (had loads of evidence on tow ).......

We headed down to Feltham on the hearing day, within one hour, case was over ........ Immigration judge ruled in our favour ........ Sent a letter to UKBA to issue visa ...........

My younger sister is now fully resident and legal in the UK .....

Easiest and faster way to enter the uk if you have the resources.......... All those visit visa doesn’t pay young people especially if your financial ground isn’t solid. If you like let your whole family be British citizens, they still won’t give you. Talking from personal experience!!!

Guys please think through before rushing to buy a new built house with help to buy o, it's not bad but buying an old house is alot better...

I know 2 people that bought houses roughly the same time...one bought with help to buy and the other bought with the normal old house deposit

The one that got the old house has remortgage, placed the house on rent and have gotten another house...while the one with help to buy has their liability to the govt increased


Even if it means waiting a year extra to gather the old house deposit, gather it, and then upgrade the house small small...in a few years you can remortgage, change the use and get a new house (with the increase in value)
