But it's not hard for him to know that Pere and Maria will nominate him given the situation and tension between them. It's common sense, what he has not explained is how he knew Maria was a Wildcard yet didn't let others know what was at stake.
Just accept he didn't know anything he was trying to get into the viewers head and he succeeded.
