Thanks for the detailed Breakdown.

Hope they would allow one to Carry Ororo (Goya Oil or Vegetable Oil) & Home Made Body Soap (not liquid) e.g Organic Soap inside the aircraft? smiley

Our great walking Google...
Speaking from experience, If you wish you can carry. I do go with Goya oil(Anointing oil when blessed) But to be sincere, there are better quality oils of different kinds including cooking oils over there and you know their Quality control works well better than Nigeria. For the organic soap, it isnt an issue, if it is liquid, please wrap it well so it doesnt burst open or pour to stain things nd let it be in sizeable containers package. Put it in ur check in luggage too.

So I arrived at MMA, all those serious looking bag boys carried my luggage, I think say them be better people until they told me I needed to buy yellow card 6 thousand naira that without the yellow card, I won’t be allowed to board or immigration will charge me 200 dollar, well I quickly made it clear to them that I came to the airport with no money atall not even dollar….I nor get money to waste.

Flight was by 11pm check-in started by 4PM they asked for my
Enrolment letter
Acceptance letter
School fees receipt

The airline staff (KLM) verified the documents, Omo one fyn woman..I nor just understand just squeeze face Dey say 3 weeks to resumption…Omo I being 1 faint …after snapping those documents I mentioned earlier, I was asked to bring my covid test result…then I realize I’m good to go

If you are traveling..buy snacks or anything put for your bag….hunger almost kill me.

So when I arrived Toronto airport; officer asked me if I have been accepted by the school I’m going to, I said yes, and he said if I have proof I told him yes and should him my acceptance letter.
He was observing the letter then I gave him my letter of introduction without him asking grin
Then he ask if I have paid my fee .. I told him yes and gave him my receipt…he observe the receipt and he said …oboy your admission letter say 15k then why did you pay 3k …..I just smile and said ….we are allowed to pay per the courses you are offering and I will be offering only 3 courses that’s why I paid 3k …..he just node head
So I told him I have my covid result…he asked me to bring it.
Then he started asking me some questions, Omo …I think the officer was looking at my file and asking me questions from there. I realize that when he called the name of my sponsor grin. And asked about his job. I told him every every.
So he ask if I have proof of funds….I told him my sponsor refused to give me grin (I forget to carry o)
Then final question..what will you be doing till your school resume….I told him quarantine grin
So he printed my study permit Nd SiN stuf …..Nd started advising me that I can work for 20 hours then holiday time, I can work for 40 hours….and I can go back to Nigeria for visiting (I just shake my head for my mind).
So that’s all….then I was walking down to the next part I started hearing…hello sir, hello sir , hello sir…..I didn’t bother looking back ….I nor believe say immigration officer go Dey call me sir….I finally looked back, it was d officer and he gave me one of my print out that I forgot with him grin……

So I went to claim my baggage.
After that, I went to do covid test, then after that …went to one joint to wait for my shuttle to my hotel. Nice hotel nice view, Everything went smooth and I thank God for a safe trip.

MY LANDING GIST

I will try to be as detailed as possible.

My flight had been booked for August 1 since the second week in June, and I didn't reschedule because while booking I didn't select the option to pay for a date change. (Too much aroro is not good as I would have changed my flight date and not put myself under unnecessary pressure at the airport while checking in)

On arrival at the airport, I was asked if I had foodstuff. I said yes, so I was directed to the Agricultural produce counter where I filled a form and paid the sum of N2,000. I was then given a print out to show that I had declared the agricultural produce. Next was to find the incredibly long queue for Lufthansa travelers. I got on the queue and when it was turn my bags were weighed. I had 3 bags weighing about 20kg each. I was told I would need to pay for the extra bag, obviously. I was given the ticket to go pay, after I had been checked in. When it was my turn to be checked in, I was asked for the following:

1. Arrive CAN
2. Enrolment Letter (which I did not have)
3. Evidence of payment
4. Letter of Acceptance

I explained that since I hadn't started classes and I had reached out to my school to get the enrolment letter but was refused based on the fact the enrolment letters are only for students who had started classes already, I was advised to explain to the officials. I did so, but they were already saying that "ah, you will not board o, you need your enrolment letter o". I responded by asking them to tell the CBSA people what I told them. The guy in charge left and came back to say the border officer said I couldn't board as my flight date was not within the 4 weeks advisory. (The enrolment letter wasn't the issue)

I told to him to explain that I had booked in June and was not aware of the 4 weeks advisory (I genuinely wasn't, I don't like wahala). The border officer then replied that I should just reschedule. The Lufthansa officer then responded by saying that I had been to TICKETING, and that there were no more flights for August.

Next response: XXXXXXXXX, OK TO BOARD.

The man was gracious enough enough to show me the chats on WhatsApp. I was already afraid that I will have to carry all my luggage back home after all the stress of getting to this point of my Canadian journey, and not just the airport.

My trip was smoother from there. Good inflight food and entertainment. 6 hour layover in Frankfurt. Another 8 hours plus to Toronto. Tiring trip o!

Anyway, at the airport you queue to selfservice your landing, scan your passport, take your photo and all. Then the machine gives you a slip. Next, you get on another queue where some documents are asked of you. For me it was Arrive CAN, Vaccination card (I made sure I was fully vaccinated) and letter of acceptance. The officer was satisfied and then I got on the queue for students to get my study permit. Depending on who you meet, the questions will vary. When it was my turn, I was asked for:

1.Letter of acceptance
2. Tuition receipt

I showed him. Then he asked for evidence of my living expenses coverage and I showed him my bank statement (Print a recent one, please). He then told me to wait, that he wants to print my permits. He gave me 2, Study and Work. He also took the time to explain the conditions on the documents. When he was done he said, "Welcome to Canada" with a huge smile on his handsome face.

I sailed out like the queen I am to look for my luggage which I found after a long while. The airport is so big. Please eat in the plane or during your stopovers. You need your strength for the queues and movements.

As you can tell, I wasn't asked for my hotel reservation because I am fully vaccinated. On my way out of the airport, I was given a Covid home test kit to get a sample for pickup at my accommodation. I am exempt from quarantine.

I think that's mostly it.

Have some loose cash in case the airport officials tax you and you don't know how to say NO.

Oh yea, classes start Sep 7, so I was about 1 week ahead of the 4 weeks advisory.

Paid the extra luggage, it was pricey, so prepare. I think it's worth it, though.

Hope this helps someone.

Congratulations.... Thank you for the gist.

Prosper in Canada

Chai.
No wahala. I’ll lose some clothes then.
Thank you

If you booked your flight directly with the airline please let them know you have an over weight or extra Kgs.
They have a fee for it which is cheaper than when you pay at the airport.
Speak with their customer service to let them know how to go about it.

Also some are kind to allow 2 extra kgs nd they overlook it for you at the airport.

Please! please!! please!!! to us.
When buying your travelling box, go for light ones so u can have enough to pack. Dnt go for a box that is weighty already, u no go see anything carry 23kg don reach.

Yes...from my friends who have travelled ,you can carry all these but I will advice you not to carry Groudnut oil cuz there is more than enough Groundnut oil in Canada and for organic soaps... Best shot is to put them in a transparent nylon and label them...if its black soap...u can use a white cellotape and label it black soap...I think it will save the stress of asking questions on what you're carrying... If possible label all your raw food stuffs and put them in a transparent bag. .foodstuffs like Grinded Egusi, crayfish, etc

which platform did you use for the transfer. For example is it CIBC ?

Sorry for the late reply, i know nothing about CIBC and don't know if they are accessible from Nigeria. What i did was to go to access bank with my bsc certificate, payment invoice generated on flywire, front page of international passport, my unconditional letter of admission. Then i was given a Form A to fill i was told it takes long process. So i made sure i snapped the Form A which was stamped by the bank before submitting all the documents.

After paying, i immediately called the school to inform them of tje payment. They also know it will take some days before they get it. So they asked me to send the picture of the form A to an email address. About two hours after sending, i was told my original letter of admission will be sent to me immediately they receive the tuition fee deposit.

I hope this helps.

If you follow the thread, you'd see the explanation. Let me break it down again.

As a traveler, you are entitled to 2 pieces of luggage weighing 23kg each and 1 hand luggage weighing 7kg.

If your load is more than what I listed above, it is seen as excess luggage and the airline will charge you.

Nothing is free.

I may be wrong, I believe hand luggage for KLM is not measured and BA is 14kg. It depends on w the carrier

It's about 48 hours to August 6th and IRCC are just keeping quiet. I don't know the magic they want to do withing this short time. Fall resumption is almost here and one needs time to plan, resign properly from work, sell/dispose some personal effects, book air ticket at reasonable prices, etc.

Someone in Canada should help us remind them that we are still waiting. They should not update us with grammar why they couldn't meet up. We need PPR!!!

No matter what happens, you know the slogan...it will surely end in praise!

Your best option is via Form A as you'll be able to get dollar at official rate. You'll need to tender
Letter of Admission
Educational certificate
School invoice/ authorization letter from intermidiary platform.
Very easy and convenient.

But before making payment, please check the refund policy of your school.
