I've being on Nairaland for over 6years. One thing baffles me; the way people asked for assistance on this forum, mostly financial.

Have you being assisted by stranger from nairaland? please share your story.

Many years ago i traveled to state for school matter, i had no single contact, i became so fvcking stranded in a state i know no one, i don't even hear or speak their language. I entered nairaland immediately, the Nairalander gave me his address, i met him, he accomadated me for 2 weeks. We're still cool together till date.

The first online giveaway I got was from NL.
In fact, the reason why I'm not getting help this days is because I don't want to ask.

Someone here gave me 7k last week without me asking.

Another fellow was willing to pay for me to go learn tailoring. Just that I was not interested in it if not.....

They're a lot of helpers on Nairaland oh.

Not me actually but the laptop I am currently using was given to my friend by someone he met here. I am using the laptop because I have urgent need for it and he is using his office laptop at the moment.

Though not financially but I got help here sometime ago....

When my mom cataract was getting worse... I ran here to create a thread with my Tecno145... Small palasa phone... Lol

I created a thread asking for any hospitals or organization that do cataract surgery free of charge... I did not ask for financial assistance so i didn't get financial assistance but people actually called me... From Houston, California and some from the neighborhood west africa countries.

A lot of people sent me text messages... Telling me about hospitals or organizations that could assist us..

The surgery went well... Oct 15 2020... We did it at General hospital ota...

Paid some money but not up to the initial amount.

P. S... I'm a 400lv student now.. finished my last 300lv papers. Pls anyone with a spare laptop should kindly help me.. I can't afford to buy a laptop but I really need 1 now..

A fellow here was paying me 6k for three consecutive months. Each month I received credit alert of 6k. He did that so I can sustain myself while I search for another job after I left a very bad one.


And, I begin to wonder the kind of mystery this life is. They people you knew for years would be as If you never knew them while someone you haven't seen or known would be as If you have known them from Adam.

When I was scammed by one of these Yahoo boys ( Their cups will soon be filled soon) Nairalanders reached out to me through messages, calls and many sent me money! I literally had to update the fact that many have sent me money before the request for my account details stopped. A Nairalander who even promised to send me something after my update still fulfilled his promise with a huge sum

Honestly, I’d never forget these kind gestures!!!!

I noticed they are not really active too or an alternate account or they just don’t comment so much on threads.

I was really really really shocked as I never expected anyone to render help at all! And the help just kept coming!

May God Almighty reward everyone who showed me love during that period, May God always help them before they ask for help or any request in Jesus Mighty name, Amen!!!!

In year 2020 , three people from Nairaland bless me and I will ever be grateful even without telling them how grateful I am . God bless you.

There are very good people everywhere and indeed on NL. The problem is the ratio of helpers to help needed, those who have been helped before and are now better off don’t come back to join the army of helpers!

Again,most people who will help are not very frequent here and do not comment every now and then but the truth is that people are reading all the things on this platform either as “guests” or “non-active” members.

The plenty rubbish here also drowns the many requests and help that could have been received here. I only wish members can understand how counter productive the tribal and ethnic war of words, curses and negative attitudes displayed here can be.

Helping people is not an easy task! Sometimes you are scammed ,deceived and even insulted by the one you are trying to help. However, it is a must to help!!

Finally, we can help ourselves more and even on a larger scale on a daily basis if we embrace the concept of “Collective prosperity”.

I have got a help too here during lockdown period last year, I was so surprised to get that alert no hassle, its really came in when I needed it so such.May God continue to bless The hands that readily willing to and also put us in positions to help too. Well,i hope I can still get help in my business, I am yet to bounce back in my business, even if it necessary connect to lift � me up I will really appreciate it, help my hustle, God bless you all

I have been assisted by getting the right information here in the past and I have assisted many people I never knew before and some never seen physically till today,Many of them genuinely amazing humans!

The financial help sometimes is not much of a big deal if you consider the amount needed and the fact that this is the poverty capital of the world.The problem is the high number and frequency of need to available helpers and the fact that we as black people don’t like collective prosperity,which is the solution to most of our problems.

I run a collective prosperity group that has and still helping so much people on that platform and thinking of re creating it live on NL but I am afraid!! Anyone what’s to encourage me??

Nairaland has done a great deal for me. I once created a thread to seek a job for my hubby. The support was touching. I got two people from here who took it upon themselves like it was their issue. They did try but, unfortunately, their efforts couldn't help us not from their lack of trying but due to the nature of the country. Also, I stumbled on a Christmas giveaway thread in December last year and I pleaded to get a mattress, and truly I was blessed with some money for it. I am truly grateful to these strangers who became a shoulder In my storms.
