Critics of Nigeria have ensured that all Nigerians are familiar with the negatives of Nigeria. Actually, critics have been so effective that it has become as if the entire world is familiar with these negatives also. I’m sure I’m not the only one occasionally surprised by some foreigners’ expert negative opinions on Nigeria. It is a wonder then that some Nigeria critics on this thread find others unreceptive when they criticise. A poster (EricBraven ) even uploaded a Fela video – possibly not EricBraven’s intention but the vid reinforces this observation that criticism of Nigeria has a long history. We get it and maybe some of us would appreciate a fresh approach to these criticisms of all aspect of Nigeria and Nigerianess supposedly intended as a kick in the direction of positive change. A less stale approach may be for all future such “motivational” speeches and writings to include positives that counteract the debilitating and morally exhausting negatives.

So Yaw if you’re not offended by my asking, what you would suggest are the Nigeria positives of which we all should be aware and need to work on even as we are remained of the negatives that we all must fight to reverse?

It's Yulaw not Yaw. I no be Seyi Law.

Positives? I guess the biggest positive is that there's something incomprehensible binding us all together that has so far resisted what would have split other countries into pieces. That something defies belief and comprehension and I don't know if it can hold forever. But I do hope so because the primary problem with Nigeria is not Nigeria but Nigerians and we are stronger together than apart.

I don't hate the country. I'm just disgusted, angry and disappointed with the way things are. Nigeria could be so much better than it is and it pains me that we are where we are at the moment with no visible hope that things go be better anytime soon and that we go take our rightful place in the world.

We have the potential to be the first superpower African country and we are currently focusing on so many irrelevances that it's mind boggling.

And the ills of Nigeria exists in a vacuum? Nigeria has one problem; Nigerians! If truly you're fed up you'd try changing those closest to you and find peace in it OR you japa grin

Lots of JAS fighters surrendering to my Brigade. I heard some JAS commanders showed up this morning with lots of weaponry and Guntrucks.

Tho my Soldier guys said JAS and ISWAP alliance didn’t work out smoothly. That some attacks they carried out as a United group, ISWAP pushed them to the front. The Military especially in the Damboa attack killed mostly JAS members whom ISWAP used as Pawns.

Most JAS guys felt they are not factored in the scheme of things during the Unholy alliance.

Brb make I go treat the new arrivals. cool

Truth is some Nigerians are not willing to follow due process, even when they are right
They prefer to part with their money than call a lawyer, moreover how many of use have standby lawyer that we can call on when we are in a situation that require them.

everyone here is corrupt, wicked and will do anything for money. A very large percentage are, but not all.

Now, in a country where the vast majority of citizens are corrupt and are only concerned about their pockets, do you expect development? A democracy at that.

UN is reporting that there will most likely be a famine in the north east soon. It is both good news and bad news. It will severely cripple ISWAP but will also affect the already malnourished populace.

SSCQE: COAS URGES MID-LEVEL CADRE OFFICERS TO PROMOTE COMPETENCE, GOOD CONDUCT

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya today urged candidates of this year’s Senior Staff Course Qualifying Examination (SSCQE) to up the standard, as the Nigerian Army (NA) will always reward competence diligence and good conduct. The COAS expressed this, while addressing 257 Mid-level cadre officers of the NA between the ranks of Major and Captain, at the Ihejirika Auditorium, Jaji, Kaduna.

Lt Gen Yahaya observed that the exams will not only qualify the candidates for Senior Staff Course, but will also have a long term effect on their career. He therefore, urged them to effectively utilize the opportunity. The COAS averred that the Army will always place premium on competence, character and good conduct in its career progression examinations, such as the SSCQE.
The COAS used the occasion to commend the Commander Infantry Corps, Major General Victor Ezugwu and staff Officers of the Headquarters Infantry Corps Centre for the untiring effort demonstrated in hosting another successful SSCQE in Jaji.
In his remarks, the Exams President, who is the Commander Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) Major General Stevenson Olabanji assured that this year’s exams will bring out the best from the officers.

He pointed out that this year’s exams have been carefully prepared to depict real time scenarios in the country. He observed that the questions are domesticated, putting into consideration, the contemporary security challenges experienced in some parts of the country. He declared that the effort is to ensure that this crop of officers are better than they were, before writing the qualifying exams.

Present at the event were the Commandant Armed Forces Command and Staff College AVM Ebenezar Alade, Chief of Operations (Army) Maj Gen Olufemi Akinjobi, Provost Marshal (Army) Maj Gen Robert Aiyenigba, General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army, Maj Gen Danjuma Ali-keffi, Commandant Nigerian Army School of Infantry, Maj Gen Gadzama Ali, as well as Principal Staff Officers of Army Headquarters and TRADOC.

Well in my view it's unsurprising, nothing incomprehensible, Nigeria remains one since Nigerians do not posses significant ethic hatred of one another or cross tribes. I doubt that even leaders do, they affect it. At a minimum, wealth and affluence elevates them above such hatreds even against will at an intrinsic level. They create ethnic division for the selfish purpose of political leverage and power from its foundational group identity.

Increase of tribal rhetoric on Nairaland and all social media is not evidence of tribal hatred among Nigerians but evidence to the contrary, which is why I believe it is about concerted effort to create that missing ethnic hatred. We knew our differences but we are now being made to be aware of them.
