This needs to be stressed out more than once. If you don't have money for living expenses. Please go to a university that you can afford.

It may help if your are coming with family - a spouse that can hustle full-time.

Spread out your program for two years by doing a two year masters. In that case you can legally work 20 hours per week spread over the time period. Then you can also have two summer breaks if you have a January start (this maybe a better time if you really need the work to support your finance). Once for September start. Summer breaks usually span 3-4 months anytime between April-September depending on your school.

During summer breaks as well as between your course end date and graduation date you can work as much as your body will allow you.

Again, don't go to cities that are costly. You will struggle to pay bills. You will have no savings and most probably you won't be able to complete your tuition payment. (An advice - don't start sending money to Nigeria, save your money in the UK, keep a low profile. It's not yet time to start doing Father Christmas.)

Post Study Work Visa is not guaranteed. You can be eligible and still not get it. So you must have other plans. While you are in the UK, take the opportunity to get US visit visa (this is very important for old people - those in their 30s and above), you can look at Canada and Australia for skilled immigration, if you are pretty young (early twenties) or you are young (late twenties and early thirties) and have a family.

Those of you that like to abuse opportunities thinking no one is watching you. Better believe it the UK have your records o. Una go collect contract phone Una nor go pay. You dey owe council tax after your finish school. May be your case don dey with magistrate sef. If you are interested in PSW na to behave yourself properly o. Nor chook hand for wetin some other Naija people dey do o. Your own route is PSW, do only what will not affect your chances. You and person wey dey file for Refugee status nor be the same thing.

Another option is to do another Masters, if you've saved up. Or continue on a PhD. This need not be in the UK. If you have the money consider continental Europe, Republic of Ireland, Germany, Austria, Netherlands etc.

By all means, make sure you are not returning to Nigeria the way you left. Well that is if jakpa is your ultimate goal. Have plan A, B, C, and D. If life happens to A, you switch to B. Start planning now!

I hope I have spoken well.

I am honestly wondering why a lot of people are choosing 1yr courses.. Some are even going to London and I'm wondering how they'd do it without funds from back home

It'd be hard to pay fees with regular work hours

Better to go the legal way in UK/EU than be illegal in the US though. The PR option for AU/Canada is a much better option though

As regards mum's surname being different, I had same challenge.

For peace of mind, Mum had to go to the bank to update her surname.
That is, after doing all the legalities like newspaper publication, Affidavit etc. (All these were required by the bank).

... and yes, birth certificate is required to prove the relationship between a parent and the applicant.

Godsblessings:
Hello house, I really need ur candid advice , just received an offer from uk, pls I want to relocate with my husband and children. Pls can I use my mum account statement for our
visa Applications, if yes , another problem is that my mum surname is not same as mine as she is using her father's name as surname , pls , is it true that my birth certificate showing her name as my mother will take care of that? Really don't know what to do and transferring funds takes another 29days bf I can use it ? Pls , has anyone ever used mother account statement with different surname for student visa and dependent visa? Your input will be appreciated, thanks.

Please @justwise,
I have a very pressing question.
I have an aunt in UK who I didn't declare as Family in UK during my student visa application. Mind you I used her address as UK address for TB test but I chose my school address in my visa application and said No when asked if I will stay in another location in UK. Also, she was the one that paid for my IHS and visa fee with her card.
Now, I did my biometrics ( standard) on 27th July and got not straight forward mail on 6th Aug.
Please, as I prepare for an interview should I be called, how do you recommend I answer the question of " if I have a family in the UK".
NB: Aunt and Uncle was not among the options listed as close family in the visa application.

Good day everyone, please I would appreciate your response and guidance as regards this because I don't want to make any error that will affect the visa application.

We are newly married (legally) and I'm applying as a dependant on my husband, my question is,

Can I apply for the visa using my HUSBAND'S surname?
NOTE my international passport and TB certificate bears my father's name. All change of name processes have been concluded.

You can write your school and explain to them. They will remove certificate from documents to be uploaded on your CAS and update it with only statement of result..

Ok thank you , though it’s confusing right now kos on my CAS , they mentioned “bachelor of Law , (then my uni’s name ) . During my application, I submitted my statement of result ,student transcript copy and attestation letter (from my undergraduate uni) kos they took back my certificate, there was an error in it , and they had not returned it at the time I made the application .

@justwise kindly help look into this . Thank you

I actually used the NPC birth certificate and there is a space that requires one to fill Parents names.

joideviv:

Wahala, my birth certificate doesn't carry either of my parents name as it is gotten from the NPC, can it be binding?

If they bear your maiden name, kindly stick to it, the valid name used is the name on your international passport. Since it is what you have also used for your TB Certificate, please continue with it. Your marriage certificate will be proof of relationship with your spouse.

it is advised to submit only what is mentioned on your CAS. In this case your bachelors degree.

Transcript is more of an academic document. A Visa officer does not need it for any thing, hence the university didn't include it in your CAS. But in your case, u can submit both and explain the mistake on your certificate.

Don't entertain negative thoughts. I got my passport back without a decision i.e. no vignette nor refusal letter. Like just blank. Sent a paid email to them already though. Please be optimistic

What's the minimum amount I need to have for a UK student visa to be approved and what's the minimum number of days it needs to be domiciled in my account?

The money you need must be domiciled in your account for a minimum of 28 consecutive days. The minimum amount you need depends on your what you school fee balance is and the area you are going to school in.

Read through the thread for more information.

You should have answered Yes to that question but there is nothing you can do about it now, if you got all other requirements right then i don't think you will be refused because of that single mistake

Thanks so much for the prompt response.
But for clarity, Are Aunt considered as Close Family in the UK because in the list of options, they included parents, siblings, in-laws, grandchildren and grandparents. No mention of Uncle or Aunt.
I really need to be sure if aunt Is considered in that category or not so I prepare on how to answer appropriately.
And what do you personally recommend I answer if questioned?.
Should I still insist I have no relative or not.
