Etsako Central people are not Igbos. Their language and culture is mostly Edoid but one can't rule out small similarities with Igbos because our fathers did travel far and wide those days rendering services all over the SS and SE. Most Estako people are called Afenmai and certain clans their have noted some connections they have with Igbos notably the metalsmiths in one small community their who claim relationship with the famous Awka Blacksmiths. Awka Blacksmiths were known to have travelled to Idah, deep into Edo state and as far as Urhoboland as itinerant artisans. There are historical records by researchers. Masquerade masks from Igboland have been seen among the Estakos which possibly was borrowed from their. This New Yam festival may also be borrowed since most Edoid are not known for having such festivals.
By and large, these people are not Igbos both linguistically and culturally. They are clearly Edoid but certain features among them are also found among the Igbos.
Edo North is a very complex area of different languages. It's very clear that the power of the Benin Kingdom was what held away and greatly influenced.

Igue festival is celebration of new yam festival... It is a celebration were the oba and his Chiefs makes pounded yam and egusi and offers it to the Gods and the ancestors for a new and fruitful year...

In ancient times it was marked by the emergence of new yam, marking the end of the year and praises are then offered to the ancestors...

Now it is celebrated every December

Onitsha have a lot of Edo culture, why are we not claiming onitsha? There's Asaba and the rest of Anioma people who have similarities with Edo people.

Onitsha have little Benin heritage and igala heritage and more of ibo heritage all mixed together and also Asaba as well which is neighboring

What is meaning of edo? A language or tribe?

Nairalanders please don't be deceived. That village is next to mine. Or rather that clan is next to mine. We speak the same language. Same customs. We are not in any way related to the ibos. Our language is one of the edoid languages meaning its tied to the Edo language. Our ancestors migrated from Benin. This is something I have researched. The red cap is purely coincidental. Historically we are more connected to the northerners who tried to conquer us during the jihad but failed.

See as they resemble Igbo people and even call it "Esi" like Igbos. Whoever divided Igbo people, it will never be well with these people.
they are not Igbos abeg. This is the Aviawmu clan consisting of Ogbona, Irakho, Fugar.... They speak Etsako and are Edoid. They have a distinct history and like most Afemia people they trace their origin to ancient Benin. They have their own cultures similar to the Afemia people around them. They worship Osinegba and their ancestors and spirits. They are not too far from the River Niger with access to Idah but they are Afemia people.

If you never mention Yoruba or compare your people to them, you won't have peace. It is noteworthy that you have made the Yorubas the standard you measure your people's achievements and shortcomings against. But that doesn't mean you should be this obsessed enough to spew trash. When the Yorubas were weaving and dyeing clothes, your forbears were still going about with naked with just a scanty wrapper around their waists

Igue festival is not New Yam festival. They are two different things. Igue from my findings is a festival for the celebration of a New Year. It is the equivalent of the Igbo Igu-aro festival. The difference is that while the Edo attach a lot of prominence to Igue, only the Umueri clan of Igbos give similar regard to Igu-Aro. The most prominent among all Igbo clans is the New Yam festival called Iri-ji, Iwa-ji or Ikeji. Other notable names for the festival is Ifejioku/ihejioku. This festival is specifically about Yam.
This festival of the Ogbona people is not Igue. It is purely a Yam affair. The pictures are very clear. In all your Igue festival, there's no celebration of Yam.

Your oba knows this truth.... it's why he usually comes to yorubaland to pay homeage. You've not finished ridding Edo state of cultism, witchcraft, prostitution and human trafficking you're busy laying claim to Lagos while your mates are being of impact to their communities..... shameless, stupid, e-community thug.

YOU DON'T HEAR EACH OTHERS LANGUAGES OR DIALET, SO DON'T COME HERE TO MISLEAD AND DECIEVE PEOPLE'S IDENTITIES AND ORIGINS.. THE ONLY TRIBE THAT ARE NOT IN EDO STATE IS HAUSA - FULANIS

The igue festival entails so many benin cultural activites that was distinct in ancient time and now being merged together as one in current traditions as igue festival

Emo rho is the ancient celebration of yam festival see how it is similar with the nane you called
