Over one hundred Boko Haram fighters with their families, who surrendered to the Nigerian troops, have offered their unreserved apologies to Nigerians for all the evil they've done.

Will you forgive them?

If not for ISWAP, this motherfuckers won't be surrendering like this. They should be wasted lowkey or locked in prisons indefinitely cool
This is why Nigerian military need to collect all their bio-data, fingerprint, dna etc. These people surrender not because they are convinced their ideology is wrong, they only surrendered because they have no other choice. If opportunity comes again, most of them will pick up arm in a twinkle of an eye. They cannot be trusted for a second.

RE: ARMY TO FREE 2 SENIOR BOKO HARAM BOMB EXPERTS AFTER REHABILITATION

Our attention has been drawn to a publication by some online news medium released in which the authors deliberately misrepresented the facts contained in that report and twisted it to suit whatever purpose they seek to achieve.

While the Nigerian Army (NA) does not want to be distracted from its main focus of dealing decisively with the threats against peace loving Nigerians, it has become necessary to put issues in their right perspectives. It is a known fact that in the recent past, over 1,000 members of Boko Haram and their families have surrendered to the troops due to the intense pressure from troops' sustained offensive actions. Among those were key leaders of the terrorists group who have renounced their membership and have turned themselves in.

The NA being a professional military organisation will continue to act in accordance with the dictates of the Nigerian Constitution, as well as international best practices. It must be known that the NA will never encourage any act of lawlessness or extra judicial killings. Accordingly, all surrendered terrorists will be received, processed and passed on to the relevant agencies of Government for further assessment in line with extant provisions.

The ongoing Operation Safe Corridor is an outfit established by the Federal Government and not the NA. As such, it is absolutely wrong to say that the NA will free repentant terrorists. The NA therefore appeals to the public to disregard the deliberate distortion of facts by these online mediums and continue to support the NA in order to rid the country of terrorism and other forms of insecurity.

The Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya has reiterated his admonition to all terrorists groups operating in the country to abandon their illegitimate cause and surrender to troops.

COAS FLAGS OFF WELFARE FLIGHT FOR TROOPS OF OPERATION HADIN KAI

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, in his efforts to cater for the welfare of troops and boost their morale, has flagged off welfare flight for troops of Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) who are proceeding on pass to and fro the theatre of operations to other parts of the country.

The COAS performed the symbolic ceremony on Monday, 9 August, 2021 at the Nigerian Air Force Base Maiduguri, Borno State.

Lieutenant General Yahaya in his remarks said welfare of troops is one of his cardinal focus for the Nigerian Army and it is in this regard that the initiative was birthed in order to ease the movement of personnel of OPHK by addressing problems such as distance and other associated challenges, while proceeding on pass to see their families and loved ones.

He said the ongoing Joint operations in the Theatre has further strengthened the synergy between the services and other security agencies which informed the decision of Chief of the Air Staff to provide the Nigerian Air Force Charlie-130 aircraft to lift troops of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN), personnel of other security agencies, as well as civilian staff of the AFN from Maiduguri to other parts of the country.

He stated that the flight will be twice a month to meet the the 2 weeks duration of leave passes in the theatre, He added that personnel leaving on pass will be granted two weeks. The COAS further directed that all security measures must be strictly adhered to, as troops will be thoroughly searched, cleared and documented before boarding the flight.

He urged all troops to utilize the opportunity to promote synergy amongst all the services and security agencies in the theatre, in order to achieve success in ongoing and future operations.

While appreciating the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari for his guidance, directions and the confidence reposed in the AFN, Gen Yahaya plegded his unalloyed loyalty and commitment to defending the constitution of the country. He also extended his appreciation to the Minister of Defence Major General Bashir Magashi (rtd), the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, Chief of the Naval Staff, Chief of the Air Staff and the Inspector General of Police for their support and collaboration.

Speaking earlier on the schedules of flight, the Chief of Operations (Army), Major General Olufemi Akinjobi said the welfare flight has been scheduled to cover 3 main hubs, namely Lagos, Abuja and Maiduguri. Troops from Lagos will be housed and managed at Ikeja Cantonment, while those in Abuja will be at the Nigerian Army Forward Operational Base and those in Maiduguri will be at the Headquarters Theatre Command.

Modu Malaram, a former fighter of Boko Haram has explained why he other members of the terrorists groups surrendered to the troops of the Nigerian Army in Borno State.

According to PR Nigeria, Malaram from is among the former fighters of Boko Haram who surrendered to Nigerian troops in Konduga on Monday.

Malaram quoted the ‘repentant’ Boko Haram member as saying that some members were forced to join the terrorist group when they were teenagers and are therefore using the advantage of the disarray in leadership of the insurgent group to run away.

He said, “Wallahi, most of us were young or weak to fight the Boko Haram Commanders who picked us from our villages.

“All the while, we knew the group is evil, but could not fight or protest because we could have been killed. Those that attempted to flee were summarily executed in our presence.

“Even though I, my wife and my child have surrendered, I am not sure if the people in our village would trust us again.”

On what gave them the gut to come out and ‘publicly’ surrender, Malaram said the division between the terrorists’ groups distracted their Commanders, and emboldened members like him to become ‘recalcitrant’.

Hence, summoning the courage to quit his membership of the sect.

“After the death of Shekau, there were infighting and divisions, which made some of us happy. And then, the aerial bombardments by the military were sustained which forced many of us to flee our forests’ camps. This is what made us to come out and surrender,” he added.

Malaram and 41 other persons made up of ex – fighters of Boko Haram and the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP)surrendered on Monday.

According to PRNigeria the ‘repentant’ terrorists ‘publicly’ renounced their membership yesterday, at Konduga Local Government Area in Borno State.

They thereafter, turned in themselves to the Battalion Commanders and troops of Operation Hadin Kai.

According to a military intelligence operative, who craved anonymity, the former Boko Haram members, however did not surrender themselves together with their weapons.

“Among the 45 terrorists’ members who surrendered, 21 are from Garin Dinya and 24 from jaja kalwa villages,” he said.

Nigerian Army said on Monday that over 1,000 Boko Haram members and their families have surrendered to troops in the past week.

The ex-terror group members include the terror group’s chief bomb expert, known as Musa Adamu, aka Mala Musa Abuja, and his second-in-command, Usman Adamu, aka Abu Darda, surrendered to troops in Bama local government area of Borno State.

Army gave the breakdown of the former Boko Haram members now in its custody to include 335 terrorists, and members of their families, totaling 746 women and children.

The acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division and Commander Sector 1 Operation Hadin Kai, Brigadier General Abdulwahab Eyitayo, visited Headquarters 21 Special Armoured Brigade Bama on Saturday, August 7 to receive the former terrorists and their families.

Eyitayo said the ex-Boko Haram members will undergo some rehabilitation process at a government facility before reintegration into the larger society.

The air and ground components of Operation Gama Aiki (OPGA) of the Nigerian military have eliminated several bandits in Niger.

The two-day offensive on the criminals’ hideouts led to the death of scores.

The operation followed intelligence on the location of camps at Jasuwan Garba-Urege axis in Niger.

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) deployed Agusta 109 and EC 135 gunships to the area.

The aircraft took turns in engaging the targets with rockets, while fleeing bandits were fired with cannons.

A military source told PRNigeria that about 70 bandits and logistics bases were destroyed.

“The operation occurred on August 5. Similar operations were executed on 6 August 21 by the air component at Kwawu and Uzawo in Niger State”, he said.

Oluwaseun Sakaba, the wife of Ibrahim Sakaba, a lieutenant-colonel who died alongside at least 117 of his fellow soldiers in 2018, has lambasted the Nigerian Army for granting amnesty to over 1,000 Boko Haram terrorists.

It would be recalled that Sakaba was killed after the Boko Haram invasion of a military base in Borno State on November 18, 2018.

He was a leader at the Nigerian Army 157 Task Force Battalion in Metele, where Boko Haram terrorists launched a surprise attack against them at about 6:00 p.m. that Sunday.

Oluwaseun, who took to her Instagram handle, cursed the Nigerian Army and the terrorists for causing the death of her husband thereby making her a widow at a young age.

She also explained that the terrorists had made many other women widows and many children fatherless.
The young widow further alleged that the Nigerian Army had yet to pay the dues of her late husband.

She wrote, “It will never be well with all of you; I should forgive them for making me a young widow, I should forgive them for killing my husband, his brother and his mom. I should forgive them for making me seek shelter in another country. I should forgive them for making many women widows and kids fatherless.

“I should forgive them after you refused to pay my late husband's dues! I should forgive them for all the atrocities done to my family. You shot my husband dead in his office, you pretended to be a friendly force just because he refused to be part of your plots...time for dragging now.”

Her comment trails a report that the Nigerian Army gifted clothes and food items to over 1000 Boko Haram and Islamic State West African Province fighters whom the military claimed surrendered to troops in Borno State during a clearance operation.

SaharaReporters was told that the repentant fighters were 335, while their family members were 746 women and children, adding up to 1,081 persons.

Among the surrendered were the logistics suppliers for the Boko Haram and ISWAP, Musa Adamu, aka Mala Musa Abuja, and his second-in-command, Usman Adamu, who turned themselves in to the troops of Operation Hadin Kai of the Nigerian Army.

It was gathered that the repentant terrorists surrendered in the Bama Local Government Area of Borno State alongside their families and followers.

The Acting General Officer Commanding, 7 Division, and Commander Sector 1 OPHK, Abdulwahab Eyitayo, received them at Headquarters 21 Special Armoured Brigade, Bama.

The General reportedly advised the repentant fighters to convince their former colleagues to stop participating in terrorism, embrace peace and rehabilitation. The repentant insurgents thereafter received the new clothes, food items, groceries and toiletries.

The Nigeria Military do not have the power to grant amnesty to anybody and they never said anything like amnesty during their statement.
The military job is to disarm and document, the state government is responsible for what happen next.

Some of you may remember the picture below from a few days ago when the Commissioner of Police of Police Imo state, Abutu Yaro, paraded over 20 men and claimed they were IPOB/ESN members arrested in a Hotel in Orlu. He also claimed that the owner of the Hotel was sponsoring IPOB. What they never told you is that the security forces invaded the Hotel, randomly arrested the 20 men, burnt the Hotel down, burnt shops around the premises, and moved further down to burn the home of the owner of the Hotel. All this after investigating and clearing the Hotel owner of any wrong doing.

Story is below

A hotelier, Chinonso Uba, has expressed surprise on why his hotel, drink depot and country home, at Okporo and Obor communities in the Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State were set ablaze by security operatives penultimate Sunday.

The hotelier told journalists in Owerri, Imo State, that the Intelligence Response Team of the Inspector General of Police then manned by now suspended Abba Kyari, a Deputy Commissioner of Police arrested him in February and investigated him for six weeks and released him after it was discovered that he had no link with Indigenous People of Biafra.

The hotelier said, “That Sunday, I saw them and I ran away. All of a sudden the security men started burning my hotel and destroying my properties. The hotel has four upstairs. They burnt three of my vehicles and four vehicles belonging to brewery companies that came to delivery goods to me with all the drinks they were carrying.

“They burnt my wife’s shop with all the goods in it. Burnt three motorcycles. They went to my warehouse and burnt the whole drinks and property there. The security operatives proceeded to my country home, burnt my house and equally burnt my father’s house. They also burnt my 2012 highlander jeep parked there.

“The operation is so strange to me because I was in February arrested for a false allegation that I was sponsoring IPOB. I was detained at Imo State command headquarters in Owerri and after which I was transferred to Abuja where I spent another three weeks

“After a thorough investigation, it was discovered that I had no hand in any crime. Abba Kyari granted me bail without collecting a dime from me. I was asked to be reporting at IRT team in Abuja for three weeks which I did before coming back to Imo State to continue with business.

“Since then, I had been running my business on a low key. I stopped making use of any vehicle and even handed over my hotel to my manager to run so as to stay away from trouble. It is on record that since then no police or security agency had asked me to report for any further questioning.

“I was surprised when they came destroying my belongings. I quickly called Abuja and the team that investigated me said that they had no hand in it.”

While debunking the police position that those who attacked Omuma and Njaba police Divisional headquarters took off from the hotel, Uba said that he had lost several millions of naira in the arson.

While giving an update on the Orlu incident on Sunday during a press conference, the state Commissioner of Police, Abutu Yaro, said that the command was hunting for the remaining suspects.

The kind of Job our men do is one that bothers on Conscience, Religiuos Conciousness and Honour, Service for nation etc.
It was in line of keeping a soldiers discipline mental health and conscience that rules of engagement where fomulated..
A soldier derives satisfaction knowing he followed lawful rules and laws in carrying out his duites
Generally where u have religious pple, or pple with conscience, they will follow lawful orders and if mistake beyond their control occur (eg. Innocent pple get hurt) they can face God in the afterlife and say, we followed a lawful order...
If they kill the guys surrendering and later have doubt as to whether or not the guys were really terrible pple, a soldier could commit suicide or worse.
Then, it is not appropriate to be Jury, Judge and executioner... Otherwise some innocent pple might get killed...

no single Military personal, whether retired or in service is happy with Bokoharam members surrendering after killing countless officers and Soldiers. But we have to look for ways to end or reduce the terrorist power.

FULL LIST: Nigerian Army Releases 102 Obigbo Residents Illegally Detained Since November 2020

The Nigerian Army has released 102 out of 112 residents of the Obigbo area in Rivers State who were taken away during a raid by the Nigerian Army and detained at its Commando Base in Suleja, Niger State.

SaharaReporters learnt that while 102 of them were still alive, four of them were dead, while six others were still unaccounted for.

SaharaReporters gathered that they were arrested by the Nigerian Army since November and December 2020, and later found to be in a base in Niger State.

According to a civil group, International Society for Civil Liberties and the Rule of Law, the families and lawyers of most of the victims had “not been allowed to see them till date, and neither have they been charged to court nor given a fair trial and fair hearing.”

“The 112 mostly Igbo civilian residents of Obigbo residency have for almost nine months remained in the Nigerian Army’s Alpha Military Commando Base located along Bida-Suleja Road, Bida in Niger State. They have also been held secretly without administrative or court bail.

“Following the discovery of some secret locations where the abductees were taken to and held, in addition to public and media outcries and efforts of Barrister Richard Okoroafor, Intersociety and leadership of the Indigenous People of Biafra, 283 were judicially rescued and over 270 have remained in secret custody of the Nigerian Army.

Only God knows the number of innocent people the NPF don pack and label an IPOB member
I thought one of the fair guys was someone's cousin who went to buy drugs for his mum.
He probably bought the drugs in the hotel room or maybe his mum is a tenant in the hotel room

What about the okada man( more specifically the man that was claimed to be just an innocent okada man that went on his daily business . he probably lives in the hotel room or conducts Okada business from there.

For how long are u going to be a tool of misinformation. Simply allow the government to carry out investigation . You can hire lawyers and P.Is to help any of them u are assured of his innocence.

Does Sahara Reporter have a picture or video to back up this story or we just have to take it like that based on their "credibility."

Stormtrooper11:
If i was a platoon or company commander, let's say 70 terrorists surrendered to my unit.
Truth is, only 10 will make it to brigade HQ cos I'll waste you.
These terrorists are only surrendering cos their plans went south. They don't deserve to live. They've killed alot of our good troops and people. They should feel our wrath
You're still part of the problem. leaving 10 terrorists when you can send all to their awaiting 72virgins up there in jannah

Lol, accepting the surrenders of the terrorists and opening a corridor for more to keep surrendering to the government is one of the best decisions this administration has made so far. How long do you think it will take before all the terrorists are killed if we keep killing them? The best we are going to get is a few months of peace when they run across the border to lay low during any government offensive. But with this new initiative, they will lose far more fighters than they can ever get.

In just two weeks, they've lost as much fighters as they did in the last 4-5 months. Not to even talk of the labor manpower they've lost in those women and children. Today it is ex-JAS members that are surrendering, but it is almost certain that many ISWAP fighters would be considering doing the same by now.

Not to even talk about the huge amount of Intel these ex-JAS fighters will provide.
The military command should be using information gotten from them to replan and restrategize the counterinsurgency plan.
For example, the IED expert should be made to build an IED in front of NA's sappers and engineering officers so as to provide them an opportunity to know how best they can counter the IEDs.
