Ole, enough of this your attempt to get into the heads of fans...You and your boys should bring the EPL back to OLD Trafford or you bounce...

Tuchel, didn't need to show Chelsea fans charts showing progression or whatever, just win some trophies and stay competitive on all fronts...

We are not winning the league. Forget it. Our best hope is to go the Chelshit route and win knockout competitions.

Amaka can’t beat Pep in a league format when Pep’s squad is better and Pep is obviously the better manager.

Not just Pep but Tuchel and Klopp are clearly better than him so if Pep ain't winning it, it will be those two.

We are not really far behind, with a good DM, I reckon we should be in with a strong chance but then, Amaka will always be Amaka, the S.I. Unit of disappointment...

Player for player, we can match any team in the league, the only area where we are obviously suspect is the DM position and the coaching department...A good coach should be able to mount a strong title challenge with this squad even without signing an expert DM...

We can’t match Man City. When it comes to winning the league it’s not just about the first 11.

By the time you get to our 2nd and 3rd choice in most positions you notice a big drop off that City does not have.

Goal Keeper: De Gea, Henderson and Heaton - We are good enough here...

Defense:
RB: AWB and Dalot
CB: Maguire, Varane, Lindelof, Bailly
LB: Shaw, Telles

Midfield:
DM: McTom, Matic, Garner
CM: Fred, Pogba, VDB, Hannibal
AM: Bruno, Sancho, Mata, Shoretire

Attack:
LWF: Martial, Rashford, Sancho, Elanga
CF: Cavani, Greenwood, Martial
RWF: Sancho, Greenwood, James...

The only visible area where we have weakness is the DM position where Matic cannot play every game and McTominay cannot do the job alone...

We are not that bad. If Ole uses the squad well, we should be able to mount a decent challenge and win 1 or 2 cup competitions...

Remove Mata who is overage and has been finished for a while.

Remove Garner who is going on loan and won’t be available

Remove all our teenagers who are untested apart from Greenwood. You want to go into the season depending on 17 and 18yr olds?

We hype our Academy products because we see them regularly but remember that when we were hyping Gomes and Chong Man City had Sancho and Foden.

There are Academy products at City who are as good and probably even more ready than ours who won’t smell first team there this season because City has enough QUALITY senior players.

I put them there in any case we are hit with an injury crisis... Even if I take them off, for each position, you can see we have a quality back up bar the DM and maybe CB position where you don't know if Bailly will choose to resume as a player or as a Doctor...

Not having quality back ups at DM and CB is significant. Also City have about 5-6 forwards of similar quality.

We have Cavani (injury prone), Martial, Greenwood, Sancho. Rashford is out for months and James has no brain.

If we’re hit with an injury, those academy players and mata cannot give us the same level of performance.

At RB we have AWB and Dalot. One is a liability offensively, the other is a liability defensively. City have Walker and Cancelo. One gets injured or fatigued, the other one steps up.

And don’t try to compare City’s midfield with ours. They have way more quality than we do. It’s not even an argument.

The day after Manchester United won the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1991, Alex Ferguson came out and declared to the press: “We are going to win the league”.

He’d later admit it was a risky tactic but he said he felt it was time he “took the gloves off” and “challenged this team of mine”. The Manchester Evening News reporter at the time, David Meek, did not share his confidence and suggested he’d been overly bullish but Ferguson was having none of it.

“David, if Manchester United can win a European trophy, why can’t we win the league?” he shot back. “It is about time I raised the stakes at this club”. Ferguson would narrowly lose the league that next season to Leeds but the tone was set and they finally ended their wait the following year.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may have fallen just short of winning a European trophy last season after United’s penalty shoot-out defeat to Villareal in the Europa League final, but isn’t it time he and the club threw down a similar challenge to this squad?
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Oasis007(m): 9:46am On Aug 13, 2021
Solskjaer is entering his third full season at Old Trafford now and the club have backed him with a new three-year contract, so it’s time United really went for the league. That has to be the expectation, the belief. It’s no good thinking anything else. Real Madrid or Bayern Munich would not expect any less and Manchester United absolutely consider themselves to be in that bracket of club. You can’t downgrade ambition at clubs like that.

I’m not saying what Ole has done is not good enough because he’s settled the club down after things were threatening to turn toxic under Jose Mourinho. You can see what he’s trying to do with the players he’s brought in, but now it’s got to take off.

United got themselves into a position to challenge for the title last season and then crumbled from January onwards. They have to react far better in those decisive moments next season. If they don’t, if they come up short again, what will that say about Solskjaer? We’re about to see if he himself has that X-factor – the buzzword United often use to describe players – to help the team to take the next step they absolutely must. They finished second and were unbeaten away from home last season but they’ve got to go one better.

Was Liverpool's team better than City when they won the league?

You conveniently picked the RB position to show City is better than us, how about the LB spot? How about the CB position?

How can you not compare a midfield of Pogba, Bruno, VDB, Fred, Matic, McTominay to KDB, Gundogan, B. Silva, Rodri, Fernandinho, Foden?

In attack, we have Rashford, Martial, Cavani, Greenwood and Sancho while they have Grealish, Sterling, Mahrez, Jesus and Torres...Are they miles better? Hell no...

I think Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp would be confident of winning the title with this United squad. They have £50million-plus players all over the pitch. United have the most expensive starting XI in the Premier League at just over £500m, a shade more than what Manchester City’s best team cost even with £100m Jack Grealish in the side.

Do I think United have got a goalkeeper who is good enough right now in David de Gea or Dean Henderson? Probably not. You could maybe say they haven’t got a centre-forward who can guarantee the goals and play every three days, but City haven’t and they won the league last year without an elite striker because Sergio Aguero barely featured.

People talk about United lacking a pedigree defensive midfielder and I get that, but the rhetoric coming out is almost like no team has ever won a league with someone who was just a decent player. But is Rodri at City that good? Am I missing something there? Pep has won the league three times with Oleksandr Zinchenko at left-back given what a disappointment Benjamin Mendy has been.
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Oasis007(m): 9:48am On Aug 13, 2021
The reality is plenty of title-winning teams have a position where there may be question marks of some description. When Liverpool won the league in 2020, they didn’t have anyone scoring goals from midfield but Klopp made it work.

Chelsea won the title in 2016/17 after Antonio Conte switched to a back three and improvised with Victor Moses and Marcos Alonso at wing-back. It’s almost like there’s this idea that United have got to spend over £50m in every position before they get to a point where they say: “Oh right, now we can win the league”.

But there will always be some sort of imperfection. There are always areas where you feel you could and should do better.

There’s talk of Solskjaer operating with a more adventurous midfield set-up and playing less frequently with a double pivot, but I find that a little strange to hear.

When Guardiola and Klopp came in, they imposed their vision for the team straight away. They may not have had the players to deliver exactly what they wanted immediately but they had their way and went with it.
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Oasis007(m): 9:49am On Aug 13, 2021
Wasn’t the more attacking 4-3-3 United are talking about playing this season, with Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba in central midfield together, how they started against Villarreal? Pogba was particularly poor in that game.

Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane will bring improvement. Sancho offers a threat they haven’t had down the right and Varane brings pace, experience and medals at the back.

It’s a good and expensively assembled squad. There should be real pressure on United to deliver this season. They have been through a period of transition, but that talk has to stop now.
