Oh thanks.
Kinda missed your reply.

The thing is that the bank isn't forthcoming
No dollar story

chigozieduru:

I think you can use Form-A (if that still applies) so make enquiries at your current Nigerian bank. If you know someone in the US they can also make payment on your behalf. It's advised to not pay school fees until you get your visa unless your school requires deposit to issue your I-20.

You can try multiple banks don't just wait on one. Do you have domiciliary account? I suggest reaching out to your school to let them know what's going on.. some schools use Flywire payment platform and et al. Check if your school accepts tuition fees payment via Flywire.

What proof of fund do one present at the point of entry?

Good evening, fam.

1.I changed my major (initially wrote to my school to not apply the change until I arrived on campus, but they didn't pay attention, I guess). So, I have been issued a new I-20.
I mailed the immigration officer in my school about what I could do. she advised I take my most recent I-20 for my interview and that I explain the reason for the change at the visa interview. Do you think this will do? Or do so need to fill a new Ds-160?

2. School resumes on the 18th of August with a self-guided virtual presentation which runs from the 1st to 18th of August. My visa interview date is stated for 23rd August, when classes start. He mailed hisschool informing them will be coming in late and they said it's okay but they didn't give a letter of extension. The school said I wouldn't need one at the interview. One thing is getting visa another thing is giving your entry into the United States. It will take a few days to receive your passport. If you get to the United States you may be sent back as your program has since begun.

Please are these true? What's your advice?
1) did you specify your major in your ds 160. If yes then you have to fill a new one. It won’t take time as the system already recognize things you fill in the past

2) Your school supposed to give you a late arrival
Letter and an updated I 20. My husband was denied visa on the 29th of July. He was able to get an interview date on the 24 august and his classes start 23. He contacted his program director and the professors of the classes he will taking and they agreed to give him some time. The school gave him late arrival letter that was signed by the dean and an new i20 which contained remarks that his resumption has been extended to September 7th.

If you haven’t canceled before, you can do that just once. That prompt is generic. I got that too when I wanted to reschedule mine from Lagos to Abuja. But I still went ahead and I didn’t have to pay any MRV fee

Let her go to the bank and do a cashier cheque. After which she will send it the sevis office.

You can fill a new ds-160 form (with abuja as the location) and then after completing, go to update profile on your cgi page and then replace the old ds-160 number with the new one you just filled. Then go back to your appointment confirmation page and print the new one that contains the updated ds-160

Western union does not accept credit card for sevis payment. The person should use a debit card or cash.

TEMIT0PE:
So basically, the concept behind a F1 visa and all other non-immigrant visas is that "every applicant is assumed to be an intending immigrant until the applicant is able to prove and convince the VO otherwise"
The burden is on you the applicant to prove you are not intending to immigrate via F1, not on the VO. So your job during your interview is to prove you are there to study. So ideally, any details about you that can point in the direction of immigration or helping you settle as an immigrant and change status will naturally attract scrutiny from the VO.

So, there is less scrutiny on you if you have no one in the US. However this doesn't mean those who have people there have not been given Visa. E.g @KemLaughs and so many others here. However, if you ask any of them, they will tell you a key question for them was the conversation around their family members there.

Hello everyone, please my interview is coming soon.I would love to do a mock interview.
Thanks

VISA APPROVAL TESTIMONY
No Funding
No GRE
One admission in the US

On the 10th of June 2021 I was denied US visa at the Lagos embassy. I couldn’t say the exact reason why i was denied. This was my first attempt.
I was so frustrated and I left the embassy in pains.
When I got home I paid for another visa fee and started looking for date. I didn’t see date in Lagos so i moved my search to Abuja. I saw October 24th in Abuja, I picked it and applied for Expedited appointment, it was approved within 24 hours and I got a new date for 9th of August, 2021.
On the 8th of August I got to Abuja via Arik Airline and lodged at St. Matthias Hotel.
My interview date (9th of August) came and I went to the embassy. I was interviewed by a slim white lady with blonde hair.
See my transcript below :

V.O : you are going to **** for masters in computer science
Me : yes please with focus on Information security.
V.O : what do you do currently?
Me : I explained
V.O : what will you do after the degree?
Me : I explained
V.O : who’s your sponsor ?
Me : My Maternal uncle. He works as a Business project manager in New Jersey
(V.o cuts in )
V.O : but during your last interview you said Cousin
Me : (I was already shaking) I can’t remember maybe that was a misrepresentation but my sponsor is my mummy’s brother that’s my maternal uncle
V.O : typing….. she looked at me and said he lives and works in New Jersey
Me: Yes
AND THE VO GAVE ME WHITE PAPER…….
I bursted into joy ……God showed up for me. To say I was denied 2 months earlier. I’m grateful I didn’t give up.
This is to encourage everyone here to keep pushing and I want to advise that not everything you read online is correct information, if I asked people they will say don’t reapply immediately after first denial, some will say if you have family abroad don’t fill it on your Ds160. My elder sister is a US CITIZEN and I filled in her details and my sponsor lives in New Jersey.
Don’t listen to people, fill your ds160 truthfully.
God will always show up, he makes all things beautiful in his own time.
See you in America . To God Alone be all the glory .

Good day everyone,

Got into the US through Seattle airport. From where i moved to my destination. Only to discover that one of my bags (a ghana must go bag, properly wrapped with a cellophane) missing. I contacted the airline. And was told that it is with the US custom and boàrder protection. It's been 4 days and they are yet to release it.

Please, who has experienced such type of thing before? How long did it take them to release it.

I only have my shoes, toiletries, cloths and a textbook inside the bag.

You don’t present any proof of funds at the port of entry except you are been ask by the CBP to do so which is not always common. But you shouldn’t carry more than 10,000 USD cash in hand while traveling into the United States.
