The trillions of dollars and accompanying efforts invested by the U.S in Afghanistan was intended to secure the country for its interests...the current situation means that the U.S must forfeit its agenda because it has no choice than to do so, they're not leaving because 'they no longer have anything to gain in the desert'

Afghanistan is a very strategically placed country and whoever can control its territory has a significant advantage in the region and that's its allure to world powers, that's why it's on the radar of powerful competing parties

You're talking about new members when all the Taliban leaders as at 2001 when US invaded the country are dead now. The only surviving one is Mullah and he is in Doha working with the US.
Afghanistan is a poor country with no known natural resources. So it's not economically sensible for the US to keep raining billions of dollars into the desert for corrupt people to steal.
The US is leaving because it wants to. Not because Taliban are forcing it out. Of course it's shameful that the Afghan defence forces they spent years training could give up with little or no resistance but that speaks to the cowardly and duplicitous nature of the Afghans not the US.
The only problem for the US is the optics that the democratisation plan they had has failed spectacularly.
But in terms of the war, they won hands down and in a matter of weeks too in 2001.
