What our team needs are creative CM's and AM's. Those two positions are virtually vacant in the present SE. This is our Achilles' heel. Our boys just can't pass. If it is possible to invite Eze, Onomah, Alhassan, Nwakali or even Amoo (kid's got potential) and others ALL AT ONCE to pre-tournament camp to audition for those creative roles, let us do it. This team needs creators. We can sacrifice some slots for wingers and defenders for now. If we end up going to the tourney with Iwobi and Etebo again as creative midfielders, we can brace ourselves for another eye-biting kick-and-follow, long pass and Inshallah display. 8 Likes |

andrew444:On paper,u may say they r not that good, But in reality n AFCON history, our best bet against Egypt is a draw. A win is a bonus. In Africa,u can never underate these teams: Egypt,Cameroon,Nigeria,CIV,n Ghana, These first 4 countries r more likely to win AFCON than Senegal,Algeria n Morroco. |

Napoleon55: Afcon history doesn’t play football Cameroon should never be ahead of Nigeria at the moment ,we claim to have talented players but here you are placing Cameroon with players from back water leagues ahead of us 7 Likes 1 Share |

andrew444:Placing them above us does not necessarily meant I rate them higher than us. But remember Cameroon is the host, they have better advantage over others. Do u think any team that haven't won it before is going to win now? Very difficult n unlikely 3 Likes |

andrew444: 100% confirm that Lorient rejected that offer for Moffi. However, it wasn't Bordeaux that made the bid, Nigerian media spinned the report. Very likely an English club. |

Curtisaxel10: Rohr needs to experiment with his midfield. He should invite nwakali, nwobodo etc and play them in midfield. The lack of creative players in our midfield is a problem that can be solved but Rohr does not care. It could prove our greatest undoing. He is wasting those friendlies |

Sudan will be our most difficult opponent in this group. Of course, Egypt is not a team to be underrated, but they would not be a hard nut to crack if Rohr gets his tactics right in the first game. One thing I can say is I expect us to go far in the tournament as usual, but I do not see Rohr steering our ship to victory when it matters most. Fingers crossed. 1 Like 1 Share |

No doubt Basco. By default even Rohr, would rate them very highly. But Sudan will prove the most difficult for us in the group to start with. As far at the title is concerned I would make my predictions after the group stage. But we should always get past the QF at least. BascoVanVeli: |

BascoVanVeli: The problem with the Egypt team is that their focus most of that play on Salah... When a team build most of it's play around one player, they run out of ideas when that player is caged by the opponents... It happened at the last AFCON... |

Napoleon55: Well said. There are certain countries that irrespective of the type of team they present, they are always a tough nut to crack when it comes to the AFCON.Nigeria, Cameroon and Egypt always exceed expectations at the AFCON. And put together have won the AFCON the most in the last 30 years. Another set: Senegal, CIV, Ghana, Morocco and Algeria (until last AFCON) would always parade an intimating squad but las-las they crumble when it matters most. Teams like Mali and Tunisia may not parade the best of individual quality but would most times create some upsets and make semifinals. Teams like Guinea and Burkina Faso, though not as talented as some of the West African giants, can shock any team in the AFCON, if underrated. Coming up with my overall analysis of all the groups soon..... 1 Like |
