largeman4u: Some banks have a policy not to convert. Acquire phd sef, they won’t take you. 12 years on 81k with a masters is really really poor. That person should look elsewhere o. 2 Likes |

Banking wasn't really my thing but I worked with first bank for 3 months after 3 months of TS. I have guys working in various banks too (branches, Head offices and other back offices). It was a very good experience and ever since then I've been an advocate for bank jobs especially to those who jettison them. No need wasting your time and getting old. If you're young and have 2.1 and above, kick-start your career. Save money to pursue other life dreams, at least Canada can be achieved in 3 to 5 years. P/S1: Some head office roles are soft work but in my opinion, the meat of banking is marketing (RMs in retail, commercial or coperate). You get more bonuses, networks, know about business of your customers and learn about managing money/investments, plus some time to run your stuff. P/S2: Generally, entry roles in financial services, audit, insurance, etc can be get way roles so young graduates of all disciplines shouldn't undermine them. Take that marketing/sales position. At least, in 3 to 12 months you would have learnt one or two things and improve your life. 9 Likes 1 Share |

richmondefosa: Most bankers are broke especially the core staff. Most of them dab into what is more than them. They live on taking loans and servicing the loans. |

I don't know any banker who is in debt. Instead they have investments. As a banker, you'll get the cheapest cost of borrowing from your bank. Peole like the Dangotes and Otedolas also get cheap loans. Then staff of multinationals Like ExxonMobil, Shell, etc. Followed by Regular employed staff of other notable companies/recognised business people. Lastly Civil servants Market women/traders should go deal with MFBs. The loan is very enticing to take if you have a well thought out venture to use it for not MBA. anthropizzy: 1 Like |

richmondefosa: What does HSS mean. you mentioned it there somewhere. |
Re: Your Thoughts On Nigerian Banks Salaries 2021 by richmondefosa(m): 4:56pm On Aug 18, 2021 |
Chuky7: HSS - Head Service Support. They are in charge of the operations in a bank branch outlet. In a branch outlet, you have tellers, Customer Service Officers (CSO's), ATM custodian, Asset Custodian and HSS. The branch size and performance determines the number of these people (roles). but there can only be 1 HSS, 1 Asset custodian and 1 Branch manager. Branch managers are the head of the branch and are in charge of everything sales. He oversees the RM's (relationship managers and marketing team, Direct Sales Agents (DSA's). Hss are next in command and they manage operations and everybody in the line (CSO's in some cases, we also have Team Leads Customer service (TLs CSO's), tellers, Asset and ATM custodians). 4 Likes 2 Shares |

ejimatic:For job satisfaction, hmmm. i cannot readily say. Most people join the industry because there are no jobs out there not because they have the passion for it. The same banking industry and financial sector these people don't see job satisfaction, others wake up happy and fulfilled to go to work. It's a 2 way street. Some people have the passion for it. For me, i came with a plan. So far, i am satisfied with my job. Whenever i have grieviances, i escalate to through the necessary channels and these are resolved. When i have met my goals, i may decide to leave. If i feel uncomfortable or the place becomes too toxic and messes with my mental health (which i don't see happening anytime soon), i will dust my bags and say adieu! 9 Likes 2 Shares |

richmondefosa: Hi. I've been following your comments since and I find it that you're very knowledgeable both on the books and street wise. How can I invest in the agricultural sector. What are the requirements? I have a dollar account already. What's next? I'm a farmer. I'm into animal husbandry and I want to expand into crops as well. 1 Like |

You've done well bro. Been off here for a little while. Had to catch up from page 2 or so. You vibe is not from this clime bro. The average Nigerian (to some extent African) hoards knowledge particularly about matters like this. Most are insecure and feel that by sharing info, one is positioning others to take their place. Saw you once worked as a security guard ... You don't sound like what you've been through though. Good stuff! Nice insights from everyone who has contributed. An educative thread indeed. richmondefosa: 5 Likes 1 Share |

badex05: Hi. Sorry i just saw this. For a GT role, i am afraid this is not possible. For experienced hire, there is a possibility. Please check Stanbic career portal. there are a couple of roles there (CSO's, ATM Custodian) that require 0-2 years experience. You could give it a shot. I wish you all the best! 1 Like |
