The Taliban wants to show the world they are now reformed, at least for the time being. They know they would need foreign aid and recognition to run a successful government in Afghanistan. I doubt they would want to begin their rule with a conflict with the UK or the US.

They have allowed female foreign journalists to move around unmolested. They have been granting interviews and press conferences. It shows they want to create a more tolerant organization. I know they would run a strict theocratic dictatorship, I doubt they would be as harsh or repressive as when they were overthrown in 1991.

13 thousand US and allied forces soldiers have been killed in the last 20 years.

There is no record for the number of death on the part of the Taliban. But the number of civilians and Talibans killed are estimated to be 51,000

The US didn’t go to Afghanistan to fight a war but to dislodge the Talibans which was achieved for the last 20 years! Most of you guys reason with your anus!

Most of American soldiers who died are as a result of suicidal bombings, IEDs and not necessarily from direct combat. The Taliban do not have the firepower for a direct combat with American and allied forces!

Status quo would have remained if not for Trump who signed an agreement for American troops to return home and the current US president Biden who agreed to go ahead with the plan.
