The Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu is set to ready to start operation as Ethiopian Airline has announced their readiness to commence flight operations. On August 24th, 2019, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) shutdown the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu for major repairs. The authority said the action was aimed at resolving the safety and security concerns to flight operations. After 371 days of shutting down the airport, on August 30th, 2020, the airport was opened for operation by the Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika after he confirmed the airport fit to commence operations. After over one year the airport became functional, the international wing is yet to commence operations. However, Ethiopian Airline in a communication obtained by Journalist101 revealed that the airline will commence operations on September 15th, 2021. “Ethiopian Airline is pleased to announce that it will commence thrice weekly services (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) to Akanu Ibiam International Airport Enugu, Nigeria starting September 15, 2021,” the notice reads. 4 Likes |

Digitron: To be honest, it is time our people and our governors start building up all the one, two, and three-bedrooms bungalows are just waste of land we don't have enough and with the way we are going our region will soon run out of agricultural land. 14 ten-story buildings will take care of the 750 units. The next you will hear is there is no electricity to power the lift or water (Solar) but when you build up fewer streets will be constructed, less compensation for the lands, and I believe the amount to be used in constructing 400,500 or 600 foundations for bungalows can take care of 14 blocks of 10 story buildings may be corrected. The picture below is what we need in our region going forward. 7 Likes

ARROBA: This has now been shifted to 1st October. Ethiopian Airlines to commence flights to Enugu on the 1st of October Africa’s largest airline, Ethiopian Airlines has announced that it will resume flights to Enugu Airport from the 1st of October, two years after the east African giant suspended flights to the southeastern state of Nigeria. This was disclosed in a statement by its General Manager, Shimeles Arage, in Lagos on Sunday, stating that every week there would be a flight on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, with B787 Dreamliner, according to the News Agency of Nigeria. What Ethiopian airlines said “Oct. 1 is Nigeria’s Independence Day and the flight to Enugu on that day will reinforce Ethiopian Airline’s good relations with Nigeria since the first flight to Nigeria in 1960,” Arage said. He added that flights were suspended from Enugu due to renovations of the airport done by the FG to improve the runway. “Before the closure of the airport for runway repairs, Ethiopian was the only international airline flying to Enugu,” he added. In case you missed it The Federal Government has lifted the ban placed on flights coming into the country from India. This was disclosed by the Chairman, Presidential Steering Committee on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, via a new travel protocol released on Sunday, which indicated that the ban has been lifted. However, the sanctions placed on airlines that convey passengers from restricted countries and travellers who are non-Nigerians remain. https://nairametrics.com/2021/09/20/ethiopian-airlines-to-commence-flights-to-enugu-on-the-1st-of-october/
