How can the best man have numerous girlfriends when he hangs out with the husband every day? I was suspecting them to be gay until I came to this part of the story. This or your friend is exaggerating.

By the way, here's a one cent:

About your husband, you can talk things out with him. Inasmuch as I don't hang out with friends or play any role in all those escapades, it definitely could be a honest meetup...not gayish or flirtatious.

You only need to talk things out! Don't think he flirts till you actually have evidence.

By the way, you didn't notice all these during courtship?

The husband is not mature, it's funny they dated for 6yrs and she never knew he is not mature. She has to be patient, who knows, maybe something may come up that will separate the two men, it could be a job, transfer, whatever. If it still persists, let her report him to someone he respects for counselling, if this still doesn't work, then she better ignore him and go out there to also make new friends.

Good p.m house

Pls I need your advice on this issue, My friend confided in me that she has been dating her husband for 6yrs before they eventually got married sept 2020,but after the marriage, her husband now hangs out with the best man from Mon to Sun,he doesn't confide in her anymore, he changed church to the bestman church, weekend if he doesn't go out, the so called best man will come to their matrimonial home to stay with them, even when she organises surprise dates for her husband, her husband will call this best man to join them,If they are invited to Birthday or any occasion, her husband will hang out with the bestman and not talk to her till it is time to go home, this has been going for a year now,she has complained and things isn't changing at all...the best man is a married man too and he hardly stays at home with his family, he has numerous girlfriends. She told me her husband now drinks ,come home late and tell her to go make her own friends too and stop complaining. She is fed up,she asked me for advice but I am not yet married, I don't know what to tell her.

Pls your input could save a marriage
This is serious, why not she get family members involved

Wasn't he spending time with her while they were dating? She should have known them if he is someone that will give her that attention.

Anyway, the husband is acting like a bachelor and is yet to know he is married.
She should keep talking to him about it and also be patient.

No. After a year of enduring, it's time for her to speak up and call the man to order. I would suggest joining heads with the best friend's wife and either figure out how to put a stop to their husbands' irresponsible and wayward behaviours, or get their families involved to table their concerns.

What is her husband's sexuality?

He and the best man avoid their families and spend all their time together..

Make of it what you will.

The man was scared of that bold step called marriage... all your friend have to do is to look for an adult that your husband respects, who understands the institution called marriage very well to explain to him that he doesn't have to run away from it/ responsibilities as a husband....Someone that can explain to him that the wife is also scared of that bold step but if they can open up to one another and share their fears, they will be OK....

In my opinion, I believe your friend does not know what was playing out at the background before the marriage, The man would have loved to be a bachelor for life.. he was forced, pushed or could not bear the taunting of " why are you not married" speeches by family/friends...
He is not gay because that was what people here will be telling u... you know what they say about birds of a feather...

The bestman is either coaching him on promiscuity or your friends hubby is gay.

Let your friend report him to his family or someone he fears and respects to call him to order.

Too many marital problems these days. One doesn't know what to advise any longer.

It is well.

I believe that it has not sank into him that he is married yet....He has zero idea of what marriage is all about since he got such friend whom he was still looking up to...Who is also married just like him.... he needed someone that can speak to him... and also caution that friend of his to focus more on his own family too... That behavior is most time common with white guys...I don't understand that emoji though... is it for me or the man in question?

I don't agree with your assessment at all. undecided

You paint a guy who was in a relationship for 6 years prior to marriage as if a child of some sort. You keep insisting he needs an adult to give him a good speaking to in order to get his act together after 7 years in a relationship? Nah! I think there is probably something else that we are missing in all of this. undecided

Richy @ the bold, does that really work in real life?

I see the advice a lot on NL and it is often directed at women, but men are sometimes told to try it as well and it makes me wonder......does it change anything?

Do the defaulting partners actually listen to this "respected person" in their lives and change their behaviour afterwards?

I am a firm believer that, actions speak louder than words. While verbal communication is good in any relationship it can never be enough with certain kinds of people. Some people need to be shown through actions that their yeye don do, no be only them get craze for body.

I simply call it - giving people a dose of their own medicine.

In the mid 90's when I usually get forced to attend marriage ceremony of cousins as a young boy, I usually notice that couples used to have elderly couple they appoints as their mother and father in marriage.. those were the people that will support them should such cases we were presently talking about now comes up as they journey into life as man and wife... But nowadays, we don't have such because we do not want third parties...Nowadays it has been changed to marriage sponsors...ie elderly rich couple that helps foot the bill of their marriage... all their activities ended on that wedding day only.......

I don't usually talk about my family but I will this time just to drive my point home...My uncle, who was my mums younger brother was one of them those days... my mother and his immediate younger brother had a real good bond when they were growing up more than the rest of his siblings ... myself and my siblings grew up loving him...

The thing is that he fell in love with a particular woman whom my grandparent did not approved of.. even when he was married, and the lady was married to another, they continued seeing secretly without anyone knowing....But my uncle's wife knew about it but was enduring without saying anything...But what annoyed her that made her to bring the complaint to my mother was that she read where the lady was advising my uncle on the best cream he should be applying...... She could not hold it anymore ... we did not know until the wife brought the complaint.. it was really funny and surprising to us because we did not see our uncle in such light.. but my mum who can reach out to my uncle's based on the bond and respect they had for each other intervened... That was how the illicit affair ended...

That was why I always believe that if spouses can figure out someone that his/her spouse respects it might go a long way should situation like that arises...
