Former Military Governor of old Oyo, General Tunji Olurin, is dead.

Olurin, who governed Oyo from 1985-1988, was born in Ilaro,Ogun state on December 3,1944.

The Nation learnt he passed on Saturday morning at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital(LUTH) after a brief illness.

General Olurin served as the Field Commander of the ECOMOG Peace keeping Force in Liberia between 1992 to 1993.

After his retirement from the military, he went into farming and later joined the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on which platform he contested the Ogun governorship election in 2011 but lost to Governor Ibikunle Amosun.

He is survived by a wife and children.

RIP Baba Ilaro. I remember when ObJ wanted to impose you on us in Ogun but sadly You lost to Amosun.

Rest on Baba Ilaro thanks for saving me from Custom Officers in Idi iroko in 2016.

Is it not same General Tunji Olurin who was appointed to govern Ekiti state when state of emergency was declared after Fayose fled?

He also served as military administrator in Ekiti state after Fayose was sent out of office in his first tenure.
