I never said he was an AM! Etebo is a SS or operated from the left midfield. That's the role that earned him rave reviews.

Currently his first touch is heavy, and he ain’t got that technique and finesse with the ball to claim he still has that ss ability in him.

Today the entire team was aweful so it’s not fair to blame only him.

But he was thrash today

our center back is very weak, we need to test akpors there if he’ll be an upgrade on these bunch of carpenters we parade

Rohr prefers his band of usual suspects.

And besides he doesn’t rate NPFL players

If onyekuru was playing games every week with poor performance I would have agree with you
as a player with a lot to prove a coach who is eager to succeed won’t give you plenty games to prove yourself, 2-3 games and if he’s not convinced he’ll seek better options

I agree 100% that these things happen.

But they coach see them in training 3 times a day, if he has that spark he would have gotten his chance.

The coach was under a lot of pressure and wanted fast results.
The coach preferred 4-4-2, because that is the formation he knows best.
Onyekuru needed to be played further up the pitch.

Onyekuru even has an assist to his name with the few moments he got.

Yes he has fine passing, good ball control, lightning speed.

He has improved significantly from last season, his decision making is better (must still improve) and he now shoots more.

But Onyekuru packs more in his arsenal than any Nigerian winger, so unfortunately he has to play backup.

You are of high quality when it comes to making good observations.

In other news, our U-20 track and field athletes have been stunning the world these past few days. More medals to come with finals in several events tommorow. Our 4x100 men's relay team is expected to medal. We are starting to become an emerging nation in track and field - this was evident during the Olympics.

With good administration comes good results.

Smart move by the kid ,he is not a generational talent like ansu fati

The English team now have more talented players than the Spanish team but moriba still use him head despite being a Barca player and even having offers from better teams from Germany England and Italy

But our ebere EZE and co are still hoping for England

I remember telling someone here if amad diallo of Man U is from Nigeria he will want to play for the English team than the Ivorian team ,Moriba should be a case study to that suggestion from me

Even ekuke adarabioyo will be fighting to make it to the next World Cup for England grin

Dont mind them...I never rate him typical of Npfl players no football sense

Yeah, i observed the lack of technical astuteness and inability
to use the ball in the chan 2018 team. They deservedly lost 4 0 to morocco as
they were totally outplayed by a clearly superior team. Even though they got to the final.
it was by attrition and luck as they could neither dribble nor make accurate passes (all npfl players).
in fact, Nigerian football lacked technically astute players until a few years ago with the rise of football academies.
To be honest Muazum in the portuguese second division can pass better than some of our midfielders.
I am not advocating for his call up but that is a pure tactical observation.
I know things have improved but i'm just stating the fact.
NPfl coaches have to work hard on developing technical players. Since Kanu nwankwo we have not
been producing technically gifted players.
This is why players like Nwakali and Rabiu Ibrahim are still relevant to our midfield becausse of the absecne of skilled passers.
Again i'm not advocating for their call up but then, if we did not have issues with technical players in midfield who can pass, players
in obscure leagues will not look suddenly relevant to us.
It is an issue Nigerian football should resolve but it is improving. At least it is said that Samuel Nnoshiri is higly technical
and so i will be on the look out for him.
Also, the lack of basic tactical intelligence or ball sense of our npfl players must be examined.
I think it starts with coaching and administration.
This is why football academies seem more and more relevant to Nigerian football as the days go bye.
In fact, most of the best players in the Nigerian league are a product of football academies and grassroots football.
The nnoshiri i mentioned is a product of a football academy.

Since football began, no winger in Nigerian history is more efficient than Onyekuru for the Super Eagles. He guarantees over 1 goal contribution per game when wearing green.

OwnGoal has quoted Rohr saying "no new players for
qualifiers"

Even though OG has a shaky record, they do get it right
at times, and this is a quote that has constantly been
attributed to Rohr, so I am inclined to believe it.
I am getting sick and tired of Rohr using this stupid "no
new players" excuse every time we play a competitive
match. Citing the whole "we cannot try new players in a
competitive match" This to me just seems like lazy
scouting, and a complete lack of forward thinking. This
also shows to me that Rohr does not see any problems
with our team and is not trying to improve the team,
especially in problem areas.
The idea that you cannot call up new players, (nobody
said wholesale changes) to replace ones who are
clearly dead woods, or not really offering much, simply
because you are playing a competitive match is
ridiculous and just a lazy excuse.
Is Rohr to tell me that were Messi suddenly ready to
wear SE shirt, Rohr would ignore him, because he has
not played before. That is a crappy coach who does
not know how to adapt to situations. Any coach worth
his salt will be able to put a new player into a system
if he can bring more to that system than the previous
players. To top it off nobody said that the "new" player
has to start, but they could easily make an impact off
the bench.
We just witnessed a US team, THAT HAS NEVER
BEFORE PLAYED TOGETHER, win the Gold Cup,
beating out a Mexican team that has played together
since the previous World Cup. So this idea that "new
players" is somehow detrimental, is complete hogwash
and the utterances of a lazy and conservative coach
who has absolutely no imagination at all.
It is clear that SE needs to be improved in certain
areas, and the fact that Rohr continues to ignore this
and keep things "as they are" is not a good sign for SE
if you ask me.
It also is not as if Rohr uses friendlies to address these
issues. He never likes to try new players, unless injuries
or withdrawls forces his hand, so frankly I dont know
when his time to experiment would be.
We still have not solved these problem areas.
1. Who is Osimehn's backup ? Should Osimehn be
unavailable SE will struggle to score. Onuachu is not
Osimehn's backup. He CANNOT start matches and
have SE play our usual style. If Rohr has not figured
this out, he is a completely useless coach.
2. Who is Ndidi's backup ? I hope Rohr is not telling
me that he is happy to have Shehu Abdullahi step in
for Ndidi.
3. Who are our top wingers in Chukwueze's absense ?
Rohr still does not know. He is still wasting time
calling up junks like Musa and Iwuala, who have
NOTHING to offer SE. How can calling up "new" players
be any worse than parading these junks. They cannot.
I have sounded the warning before and I am doing it
again, but I will tell you all that a disaster will befall SE
so long as Rohr continues this lazy approach to
coaching.
We are a few injuries or suspensions away from having
a really tough time in World Cup Qualifying and also at
the AFCON.
and speaking of AFCON, Is Rohr trying to say that there
will be no new players at AFCON, since I dont believe
there will be any more occasions to try out new
players.
We still have not looked at

How can any sane coach who regularly parades junks

Was looking at Calvin Bassey clips from the last rangers game. Man has got good if not better left foot with pin point crosses and pull out.
Would be nice addition to our LBs. I really look forward to seeing his addition to the SE. Currently our CM is what's worrisome; we have the players but creativity and spark is still missing. Hope we can unearth a player that can dictate the game and its tempo. Give defence splitting passes and a torn to opposition play
