Was going to ignore but just have to comment. Two of these 3 ''junk'' players have been with the national team before Rohr arrived to coach the SE some from where to where were they forced on him? Musa has done more than his part in the national team just to be referred flippantly as junk. Yes he has probably overstayed his time with the SE but is his situation any different from the likes of Keshi, Kanu and Yobo that we are insulting him like this? Let's respect the man small. Shehu has tried in the past I also think his time in the national team is up but also calling him junk is unfair considering his huge contributions during the qualifiers for the 2018 WC. As for Iwuala every watching of the NPFL consider him one of the best if not the best in the league. Plus he's a young man still learning his trade so I don't really understand the vexation of the writer. maidaboi: 2 Likes |

The Midfield: A little analytical viewpoint based on eye test and other observations made overtime from recent showings in the past 1 year+ We are getting to that point where we would have the following Midfield double pivot options in our Arsenal with each serving distinct functions depending on the opposition. A). Capped: 1. Ndidi-Aribo: (Speaking on reality) Guarantees world class DM shield in Ndidi, Ball carrying, smooth transition from midfield to attack, and top notch late arrival in the box. Aribo is the best among our MF options at arriving late in the box to bag a few goals. Only problem is we don't get enough creativity from deep in this combo and there is little visionary lines-breaking passing when up against a deep defensive block. This combo Guarantees goals than constant creativity against certain oppositions due to Aribo's knack for getting forward rather than playmaking. 2. Ndidi-Etebo: (Speaking on reality) Guarantees Workrate and energy in the middle but the defect is there is little ball transition and both lads will almost likely mirror each other in most functions. Etebo is always the busiest in this combo but he doesn't do the most important job of a CM well..... Ball carrying. He is more of a ball retention expert. Against certain highly Physical sides, this combo will strive and get results for the most parts but against a Top ball playing side this "similar-functions" combo struggles. Additionally, Etebo can also get forward and have shown that a few times with goals to show for it but I maintain that Aribo remains Lord among our options when it comes to a CM arriving late in the box. 3. Ndidi-Onyeka: (Speaking on potential) Likely to guarantee Mad Workrate and Insane Defensive shield, box to box energy, good ball transition, pressing all over the field, but creativity will largely depend on the #10/Support striker and Wingers plus a few moments of brilliance from balls won in the high press by Onyeka and Ndidi's long passing from deep (which comes not so often but when it comes, it can cause problems for oppositions). Potential defect is this combo is that they could struggle to create through the middle. B). Uncapped*: 4. Ndidi-Alhassan*: (Speaking on Potential) Likely to guarantee World class DM shield, Top defensive coverage all over the pitch, insane workrate, excellent ball transitions due to the presence of a genuine ball playing Midfield dictator in Alhassan, creativity from almost all over the pitch due to Alhassan's quick thinking on the ball combined with his Constant High press, Midfield possession control. Alhassan also can get forward but none does that better than Aribo. Potential defect is hard to spot in this combo... Alhassan's High Cerebral Midfield plays and passing ability is also highly complemented by his insane energy and mad workrate. Time will tell. 5. Ndidi-Nwakali*: (Speaking on potential) Likely to guarantee top DM shield, Good defensive positioning, excellent switches of plays as both are long ball experts, decent workrate, excellent ball transitions due to the presence of a bonafide ball playing Midfield dictator in Nwakali, lines breaking creativity from deep, Midfield Possession Control. His dead ball ability is also the best among the midfield options. Etebo is another who can have a go from freekicks but Nwakali still edges. Potential defect here is that Nwakali could have a drop in defensive concentration/level and that could take its toll on Ndidi if not checked in time within observed period. 6 Likes 2 Shares

TheSuperNerd:From this analysis, Ndidi/Alhassan seems to be the best midfield combo, but I doubt if we'll b able to c it happen any time soon because of the type of coach we have. We really need to try as many new midfield combo as we can to determine which work best. 1 Like 1 Share |

Napoleon55: Etebo will be dropped as time goes on. He may not make the world cup team and after the 2022 world cup his time will be over. I beleif even now he can be dropped and replaced with nwakali and alhassan Yusuf. Problem with him is that he is not really a natural midfielder but more of a forward. Also adewale oladoye of gent will feature in our future midfield. |
