Plugging earphones during church service just like in lecture rooms or official meetings is actually a distraction but condemning the use of earphones generally is where by bone of contention is.

TV and IPAD come to mind.
The same pastor that declared TV to be devils box has today mounted TVs in all his church branches as a medium of his live broadcast.
Just like most churches frowned against IPADs and TABs but today it has actually replaced the bible book.

I use earpiece in church to filter the noise from the speakers. Even my apple watch warns me of loud noise cos of the speakers. Just insert your airpod pro and the speaker will be super clear with no noise
