Wow I really hope this works out well for both Softbank and Opay. Softbank has been involved in a series of misses and scandals especially the WeWork debacle. 1 Like |

Opay is one of the best solution to some identified problems in Nigeria. But some of our leaders in their BLINDED Visions planned to kill that sensible invention. But they are surviving conveniently compared to the stress they underwent when they rendered those services. E.g., less time and bonuses for transport ( long hours in traffic and feeding Even BRT does not give discounts |

This is great news... I just hope our leaders will let this survive. Unfortunately: 1. Softbank's investment will halve before 2023 as PMB and Emefiele's backflipping will mean naira will reach 900 per $1. Since Opay's profits are in Naira, translating that back into dollar means less money coming out. 2. Since we don't have rule of law, expect Lai, EFCC, or DSS to direct CBN to freeze Opay's account, because you know, na Naija we dey. But they may not be successful since Opay has investments from Sequoia, IDG, and Opera. If only we can all hang around and survive till May 2023... 1 Like |
