Definitely as soon as you unbox it...running down the battery would only be deteriorating...FTC anyways! |

Batteries have actually gotten smarter with lithium ion batteries but there are still some safe practices to prolong the battery health. Lithium ion batteries are at their best in the middle, never too high nor too low. So its best to; 1. Charge a battery to 80%. Pushing in the last charge between 80-100% causes the battery to age faster. 2. Never allow it to die out completely. 3. Some phone manufacturers have battery management systems (smart charging) in their os to regulate how long a battery is charged, this is to prolong battery health. 4. Some experts say once in a month allowing your phone to die out completely, then charge to hundred percent helps re-calibrate the system, like restarting your PC clears the cached memory. 5. Always using your fast charger(33watts, 64watts) degrades battery faster. Use them on the go, not over night. Get a normal slow charger for long charges because fast chargers heat up the batteries significantly, and heat degrades battery life fast. 6. Just like in dieting, its better to eat many small meals than one large meal, in battery care its also good to go on multiple charges of 10- 90%, 20-80% than 0- 100%. 7. Every battery has a charging cycle of between 300-500cycles. Every time you charge from 0- 100, that is one charging cycle recorded. At the end of your cycle the battery stops to hold charge. When a battery reaches 100% it stops charging even when it shows the charging sign, it discharges to a percentage determined by the manufacturer then its starts charging up to 100 again. It doesnt show it discharging while plugged in, but the battery is busy charging and discharging. Minus the continuous charge and discharge, the process heats up the battery which over time damages it. Imagine leaving a battery charging overnight from 10pm to 7am, by 11pm it must have fully charged from 11pm to o7 will be discharging and charging using up precious charging cycles. A battery that should end up lasting 3yrs will suddenly run oout in one year. 4 Likes |

atheistandproud: 6:27 Couldn't agree any less that lithium ion batteries don't like the electrons being totally used up. That's why some phones shut down at 4%, some 3% and mine 2%. Even after it's completely shut down if you still tap the power button it still comes up with something even though it goes back. Great video 1 Like 1 Share |
