And when the gen require servicing, all your tools won’t work until you have your gen back up.
When you have offsite jobs, you’ll have to rent generator for something you can just do with a cordless tool. here's what I did to fix such down time I bought a brand new generator and have a backup generator too. I ensure I change the oil when it's due and I don't do roadside oil. I also do routine maintenance of the generator to avoid total breakdown n3xt:
There are few things you can’t do without a generator.
Welding machine.
But no be all the time we dey weld. We spend more time cutting, grinding and drilling than we do welding. And yes, the generator that will power the welding machine will power at least three grinding machine at same time comfortably. So you see it's almost of no use to me. Greenarrow01:
Don't you have NEPA at home They are right with cordless tools Don't be to archaic. Most times people have light all Through the night Have a small setup for Charging like 3-4 extra batteries for your tools Moving generator up and down is not it
Secondly the sound I hate gen sound. Thirdly. The 3k you spend on fuel and then the servicing I have a mobile generator and a stationary one. Trust me I cutting stuff like H beam channel require good power. The generator noise is what I call occupational hazard. My ears have grown to deal with it |

So if I've got a project going, I just pay people to negotiate the disorderliness to buy materials or just call some tested Nairaland suppliers to deliver. I can't go to market to buy materials myself.
Contrast this when you step into IKEA. The orderliness, the transparency of price, the certainty of your purchase, the staging of the furniture to give you ideas on how to solve any furnishings problem at home. From kitchen to bathroom to living room to kids room and even how to showcase your 7.2 AV Receiver, your surround sound speakers and your TV stand or display unit, IKEA got it all covered.

Right now, the maths and economics doesn't work for the alternatives 1) They are sometimes onsite where there is no electricity yet. POP and bricklayers can't be carrying generators to site. 2) Once you buy solar equipment you never have to service or buy fuel. IMHO the cost savings is worth it for the level of lights and charging phone. When you get to powering even an inverter welding machine or heavy duty grinder then the investment level increases for sure. 2 Likes |

We powered some led lights using Cat6 cables. The bulk of the wires we use in house wiring are for lighting which can be converted to DC.
