Nezzjnr: That will be when it isn't raining. For now, I'm enjoying the rainfall |
Re: My Cucumber Farm Dairy by Nezzjnr: 1:10pm On Aug 29, 2021 |
OfficialSam:Yeeeaahh it rained today... But won't the pressure from the Knapsack sprayer displace the seeds or bend the tender plants? |
Re: My Cucumber Farm Dairy by fiddzy(m): 1:13pm On Aug 29, 2021 |
Nezzjnr:paraquat, I don't know about it effect, I know atrazine is soil based but glyphosate works on direct contact with plant because glyphosate is strongly binded by soil particles and don't work directly on the soil. |

OfficialSam:How about when they were tender How were you able to water it |
Re: My Cucumber Farm Dairy by OfficialSam(m): 7:17pm On Aug 29, 2021 |
Nezzjnr: Knapsack; but you have to stand a bit far from each plant so the pressure doesn't kill it. |

Re: My Cucumber Farm Dairy by OluchiDelly: 12:04am On Aug 30, 2021 |
Nezzjnr: Something should be wrong somewhere...paraquat/glyphosate doesn't stay active in the soil for that long. Maybe u applied excess or animal/bird pick up your seed. |

Farmerakinloye6: I know about that. But the land is just a plot and i need massive yields. |
Re: My Cucumber Farm Dairy by Farmerakinloye6(m): 12:16pm On Aug 31, 2021 |
I sold 13 bags today at 7.5k, some of my colleague sold 8k. My next harvest will be Thursday. |
Re: My Cucumber Farm Dairy by Farmerakinloye6(m): 12:36pm On Aug 31, 2021 |
I will keep saying it both online and offline, know your strength (monitoring, logistics and financial aspect) and cultivate what you know you will be able to handle! One of my colleague plant twenty thousand stand, now he can't handle the harvest, bagging plus transportation to Lagos, Look at his cucumber below, out of 31 bags He brought to market on Saturday, remain 18 bags which is now ripe. He is planning to bring another 50-70 bags again . His target is 500k every five days In akure. Bottom line! know your personal and market strength before you plant 2 Likes

The smallest one is the normal size here... anything above that is too big for my market, they will be complaining it too big, it will not be many inside bag, and so on... The biggest one was a mistake from my last harvest (omitted).

OfficialSam:Bros, good day o, do you mind explaining how you water with knapsack? It might be my only means of trying out a test plot, how large is your garden and how long does it take you to water it. |
Re: My Cucumber Farm Dairy by Farmerakinloye6(m): 7:59pm On Sep 03, 2021 |
... I vex myself today no be small! Here is the gist, my prayer before I got to market this morning was to see my Cucumber (9 bags) sell at 7.5k. on getting there, buyers were rushing and begging me to sell for 8k, a colleague I met in market called me to Corner and said "he has been selling 9k, so I should not spoil market" I nodded in agreement. So I put my price at 8.5k, 15 minutes later another 20 bags enter market, and the owner put 7k tag on it own. The buyers were like I should collect 7.5k because my own is the darkest green. To cut the story short, I sold 3 bags 8k, 2bags 7.5k, 2bags 7k and 2bags 6k. 2 Likes |

FarmTech:What do you think about this idea of irrigating cucumber using a knapsack? |
Re: My Cucumber Farm Dairy by ideepaul: 3:51am On Sep 06, 2021 |
abouzaid:Knapsack for commercial purposes? Nah nah! If I don't have access to water, I rather save my money at home. It's one of these three for me or I give up as far as cucumbers are concerned; Furrow irrigation Hose on the spot watering Drip irrigation How will you be feeding a matured plant with at least 2litre/day during the dry hot season with knapsack sprayers? Even watering can better pass this thing |
Re: My Cucumber Farm Dairy by Nezzjnr: 7:42am On Sep 06, 2021 |
ideepaul:Furrow is very bad for Cucumbers in my own opinion. I have seen a lot of people that used Knapsack and they got their desired result. What works for people might not work for you |
Re: My Cucumber Farm Dairy by abouzaid: 9:14am On Sep 06, 2021 |
Nezzjnr:would you advise me to try this on a plot of land using a cheap seed like marketmore? Just 1500 stands. |
Re: My Cucumber Farm Dairy by fiddzy(m): 11:22am On Sep 06, 2021 |
abouzaid:marketmore ke, oga abeg no try am, disease resistance low slow maturity, I plant 1200 stand on a plot with 100 marketmore to 1100 murano 2f1 just to help with more female flower, about knapsack on 1500 plant abeg use hose o if source of water no dey nearby , no do m, don't b doing economics to use 1 naira to get 1 thousand naira o, start small master it even if na half plot. Pple think say 1500 stand na beans o. |
