If they had captured Rann, would the Army had been able to launch an offensive to recapture it back considering the terrain? Maybe this is a sleek attempt at capturing and holding the town at least till the end of the raining season. 2 Likes |

After 61 gruelling days in the custody of the Department of State Services, eight of the 12 aides of Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, have regained their freedom, The PUNCH has learnt. The secret police released the eight detainees on Monday, their lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi, told our correspondent. The detainees are Abdullateef Onaolapo, Tajudeen Irinloye, Dikeola Ademola, Ayobami Donald, Uthman Adelabu, Olakunle Oluwapelumi, Raji Kazeem, and Taiwo Tajudeen. They appeared at a press conference on Monday afternoon with their lawyer. The secret police, however, refused to release Amudat Babatunde, Abideen Shittu, Jamiu Oyetunji, and Bamidele Sunday, claiming that they were heavily involved in the alleged offence of arms stockpiling and other criminal activities of their boss, Igboho. Speaking at a press conference after their release in Abuja, Olajengbesi insisted that the remaining four of his clients must be freed because they had been granted bail by the court. He also stated that the DSS must account for the two associates of Igboho killed during the bloody raid of July 1, 2021. The PUNCH had earlier reported that Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on August 4, 2021 granted bail to the 12 detained aides of the separatist leader. They had met their bail conditions including the provision of 24 sureties but the DSS lawyer, Idowu Awo, kicked against the bail granted by Justice Egwuatu to four of the detainees — Babatunde, Shittu, Oyetunji and Sunday. Awo had sought a remand application for the four detainees saying their release would affect investigation. The detainees have spent over 60 days in DSS custody since they were arrested around 1am on July 1, 2021, when the secret police “raided” Igboho’s Ibadan residence in a Gestapo style, killing two other associates of the activist in a “gun duel.” The 12 detainees had approached the court to seek their release. SOURCE You arrest person, lock am up, you no charge am to court o, you lock am dey do investigation ![]() Court talk say make you free am, you say NO Is this not lawlessness, the Nigerian constitution should be supreme. There is almost no difference between the DSS and UGM then. 1 Like |

NafeesaAA:while police no go fight if he easy? madam the military made a tactical withdraw. they are no major equipment in the base or the one with fault because my source say they attack base from large distance . the military was forced to withdraw and wait an launched back. is it the military finding it difficult to fight without air support that coordinate and launched ambush and attack? the military only withdraw and returned with fire power. 9 Likes |

NafeesaAA: LOL, while trying to discredit the Army, you ended up posting their wins, any fighting force can be forced to give ground, very few can return to counter the enemy's attack. And why put yourself in unnecessary risk when you can just wait till you have an overwhelming advantage over the enemy? In fact the whole incidence showed tactical brilliance. There is no point in fighting a battle you are surely going to lose, especially when you are surrounded, but you can escape from the trap and turn the tide against your enemy. 12 Likes |

The only part where the commander of that garrison failed is where not withdrawing with the military assets in the town and allowing the terrorists to destroy them. https://humanglemedia.com/military-smash-daring-iswap-squad-after-dislodgement-of-base/ 3 Likes |

NIGERIA, TURKEY TO STRENGTHEN RELATIONSHIP ON COUNTER TERRORISM The Nigerian Army and its Turkish counterpart have pledged to strengthen military bilateral relations between both countries to tackle terrorism. This was made known today Monday 30 August 2021, when the Turkish Ambassador to Nigeria, Ambassador Hidaye Bayraktar paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Faruk Yahaya, at the Army Headquarters, Abuja. Ambassador Bayraktar stated that the purpose of the visit was to improve upon the existing relationship between the two countries and to assist Nigeria in its fight against terrorism. The Ambassador further averred that like Nigeria, Turkey had equally been confronted with challenges of insecurity, pointing out that the Defence Corporations of both countries have to come into mutual agreement in order to curtail the activities of terrorists in both countries. In his response, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), described the visit as an opportunity to further enhance the existing cordial relationship between both countries, particularly the Land Forces of Turkey. He disclosed that during his recent tour of Turkey, he paid a visit to the Turkish Defence Corporation, describing it as a very insightful tour.Gen Yahaya further stated that the relationship between the two countries will shore up the fighting capabilities of the armies of both countries through sharing of intelligence and operational experience. Present at the visit were Principal Staff Officers of the Army Headquarters. ONYEMA NWACHUKWU Brigadier General Director Army Public Relations 30 August 2021 2 Likes

JOSCOFELIX: If the Police had half of what the military had, this war would have long been over. We remember vividly how 100 BHT drove a Battalion and a Support Brigade from Mubi. We knew how you guys fled Gwaoza, passed Limankara, passed Madagali, Passed Minchika and took position at Marraban Mubi. A unit from MOPOL 27 Kastina, MOPOL 8 Jos, MOPOL 2 Lagos stood by at PMF training camp fought for 3 days with only Tear Gas, AK-47 and TYPE 06 before BHT had to use NA MBT to break thier defences. After you guys ran away from Mubi, was it not Police that made first incursions into Mubi? Least I forget the numerous achievements of SARS Maiduguri. Look allow the sleeping dog to sleep. Wallahi, if not for NAF, Maiduguri would have been the capital of ISWAP. Tactical withdrawal at the expense of scare military hardwares 13 Likes 3 Shares |
