I use credit karma too. It’s very accurate every little spend or application shows and affects your credit score immediately.

Sept 2020 and it's almost September 2021, that means you have been resident in the UK how at least a year. Better go and get the UK drivering licence because you are only allowed one year to use international licence.

Yes town house but DETACHED. I want my wife and I to be on a separate floor from children as we will use it for home office. its a house to live in for life so we are trying to be right. We have seen one sha, its like 480k. But still searching for something cheaper.

Why don’t you go for new built? I’ve seen a few like that over three floors.

good day our elders, please how does someone apply for cc without 3 years worth of UK address
Try to apply for paypal credit first, FYI you won't get a card, it'll be only for online shopping.
Or try capital one, they might ignore the less than 3yrs history

Looking to buy a house next year so we saving now. We stay in south west. Its not help2buy as that doesn’t cover our budget as I hear help2buy is 250k max then. Any tips?

Help2buy can cover any amount you're buying. You just lose the 25% bonus if you're buying a house above 250k anywhere outside London or above 500k in London.

So far as you've your 5%, you can use help2buy.

Have you started sending CV's to engineering companies, even if you have to offer your services for free?

Please I need your inputs.

A quick one. Spouse has been in the UK for 8 months now, almost done with studies. Visa expires in November.

Is it advisable for me to apply now as a dependent to go visit?

I read in the papers today that HGV drivers now earn more than starting salary of £54k, while plumbers now earn up to 150k annually. So those of you looking for office jobs should go and learn how to drive lorry or learn plumbing/ electrician …. ( Thank me later)

Also, if you have the provisional license, that supercedes the international licence so every rule that applies to provisional license applies to you even if you have driven for 1 year with your international licence.

I think someone had an issue concerning this some pages back

I hired a guy to come plaster a section of a wall earlier this month, paid over £200 for less than a 2 hour job. Speaking to him, he said this was his if i can remember correctly his 10th job for the year. He used to drive a Porsche which he sold recently even at a price higher than what he paid for it. My mouth dropped at some of the stories he told us about how much he has made over the years and believe me lots of is that do white collar jobs don't earn that kind of money and they collect cash so don't pay HMRC anything.

Paid one to do the kitchen, minus the cost of the appliances and cabinets i calculated £4000 as his take home for about a 10 day job and he worked at his own pace. How many of us earn that?

When you start, you might have to build credibility and experience, but when you get that, the sky is the limit to what you want to earn and how you want to work.

All the people that ask what certification they need to do to get a job in the UK, of you are still in Nigeria, go and attach yourself to that Baba painter and Bana plumber and Baba carpenter even barber to learn the trade, come here fine tune the skills get whatever CSCS card or certification you need and with God on your side, there are no limits.

My father refused to pay, and denied me access to his Mercedes-Benz (that had a Toyota engine fitted)....... cheesy

Lol.
For my father it was an investment - thereafter I became an unpaid, but official driver for the family. smiley
And it took a long while before the man upgraded me to his '79 Benz 200 o (which did have a Mercedes engine fitted, sha)

Apart from the HGV drivers job, which entails a lot of sleeping on the road, washing up in petrol station bathrooms, or sometimes pooing in bags, there is an absolutely balanced work-life balance for plumbers and the rest who are self-employed and who a) take jobs at their own discretion, and b) work at their own pace.

Good one!

This is a secret most Nigerians don't want to believe.. these are on_demand skills. There are people with MSc that went back to learn vocational trades and are now making so much money! You can also check job boards to see how much plumbers/electricians make.

It's not that Nigerians don't want to believe it - they know this very well.
But the Nigerian man's love for white-collar employment as a definition of self cannot be uprooted; what do you want them to tell the people at home na?

This is very true. Many Nigerians look down on people with blue collar jobs while giving white collar job holders some kind of medal. People with such skills in Nigeria are grossly undervalued.

It depends on what your plans are .... however if she wants to do post study visa with you then you have to quickly get on her student dependant visa

If she has no real plans of staying in the UK and intends to go home shortly after masters then I guess visit visa is OK as well

Non.. last year or so I tried first direct , paying about 100 or so monthly and after one year I got only £50 interest on top.

Not worth it in my opinion

If you have at least £20K to invest then use a good investment manger like vanguard to invest in index shares. They are not too expensive they charge about £7 per quarter. They have many good packages that cover the whole of the market. You cant go wrong. This will cover your ISA annual allowance so you won't have to pay tax on your returns.

It can always be translated as a pipe and drain engineer,

Window cleaner = Vision enhancer
Shelf stacker = Replenishment assistant

I only just came across this fact recently, however these trainings are expensive and it takes years for one to become a recognized professional: might not be palatable for one who wants to hit the ground running and with a limited time like 3 or 4 years to extend their stay.

I'm open to correction though.
