The Buhari govt is using other assets such as the Lagos Ports and power plants as collateral.

In the case of Kenya, the Mombasa port was not built by the Chinese but was built by the British during colonial era and the money borrowed from China was not meant for the port but for other infrastructure projects across China which the Kenyans offered their key port as collateral to which the Chinese have assumed full control of since Kenya failed to meet her obligations.
