Ekealterego:How old do you think I am? First you said in one of your post that I was among the older generation that whipped division among Igbo state? You don't know me and you whip up such daft accusation. I'm not even from the SE for starters. So you just ascribe age to someone you don't know. A person who joined nairaland in 2015 should have told you how old he should be. And you are using me to compare Idenna aka Odenigbo Aroli and Abagworo two dudes old enough to be my uncles. I began following Nairaland and other forums even as a Jambite so my understanding of those fora was intrigued from the culture and travel section. I'm a student of history and I always try to read widely to understand the world view. I'm not like you guys who listen to radio owned, run and managed by Nnamdi Kanu and believe his sentimental perpective. I scrutinize people, I find facts and don't swallow a propaganda hook, line and sinker. If you check my profile you'll see me comment in federal job groups like the Navy and ICPC. I'm not even up to 29 yet. You might be surprised, but I'm way smarter than my age. Please quit that IPOB attitude. So anyone who does not agrees with you suddenly becomes an enemy. If that is not daftness I don't know what else to call it. Use your head for once and stop castigating anyone who criticizes your leader and movement. I don't buy your pattern. I see it as a one man show. Your movement does not elevate us politically, socially or economically. Unlike the Ijaw INC or Arewa Youths, IPOB cannot point one influential impact it has bequeated on Ndigbo. Since IPOB came from the dark name one growth Igbos have seen. I saw holes in Kanu right from 2014 and knew his motive was political and not sincere. If I never bought the ideals of MASSOB is it Kanu I'll listen to. I might be young but I'm not easily cajoled to follow someone sheepishly. IPOB as far as I'm concerned has nothing to offer Ndigbo but disaster and stupidity. The earlier Ndigbo throw them and their one-sided views into the dustbin the better for us. |

HornyTave:Oga why would i lie about anything, besides I don’t have anything to prove to u, thanks to the nature of my former work, I get to travel around Nigeria, and my stay normally last from 2weeks to 3 months depending on how big the contract is, I remember clearly in Umunede how one of my college called a meat seller, while he was asking of the price with pidgin,I told him in Igbo that he should know the kind of meat he is buying(me am skeptic when it comes to meat) before I go even finish the sentence the girl, “said owu anu mgbada”, that antelope she mentioned opened my curiosity,I began asking her questions even where she was(awum onye Agbor) her accent has been installed in my subconscious mind, they way Agbor people speak is identical to Abriba way that is their accent, and I hear Abriba too,Am also getting used to Kwale,mr. Chukwuma is always coming to our place, he even named our dog some months ago. In conclusion I don’t claim all these, it’s my own personal experience that am relating,Igbo language is very deep and all the Igbo I have ever come across the one that made me scratch my head is Egbemaand I only had an encounter with one egbema man from Rivers,am also curious to know more about their dialect and also know if it’s the same dialect the ones in Imo speak too or if it’s different . Lastly I don’t force anyone to be Igbo, anyone can be what they like(I don’t take Agbor,Ikwerre as Igbo, but mind what u say about Anioma depending on how u group them,an average man will skin u alive if u tell him his not Igbo 3 Likes 2 Shares |

HornyTave:That guy is right in a way because it’s neither the Itsekiri nor the Yoruba claiming one another. Rather, it’s the Itsekiris (from time immemorial till the present-day) affirming and re-affirming their rightful place in the Yoruba heritage. And no Yoruba sub-group have any right in a way to snatch their rightful Yoruba heritage from them. The following written and video testimonies from the Itsekiris in the 1800s and 2021 respectively supports my point that it is their testimony and they have right to it: HornyTave:Do you read comments while your eyes are closed? (1) I presented you two testimonies of Itsekiri elders in the 1800s. Let’s hope you’ll read them this time: (I) “Let me now refer briefly to the tribes that people this part of the world. First we come to the Jakris, who are connected in race and language with the Yoruba people, extending from the Mahin country on the west to the Forcados on the East, and inland about as far as Sapele.” ~ H. L. Gallwey, “Journeys in the Benin Country, West Africa,” The Geographical Journal, Vol. 1, No. 2 (Feb., 1893), p.127. (II) “In this respect, however, the officials agree with the tradition of the people at Warri, the Jekries, who claim to come from the west.” ~ H. Ling Roth, “Great Benin: Its Customs, Arts and Horrors,” (1903), pp.8-9. (2) In case reading is too much work for you, I also embedded a video. In fact, I pointed timestamps. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKLTie7LhKQ (I) At timestamp 7:01 to 7:13 of the video, Chief Robinson Ariyo (the Egogo of Warri Kingdom) said: “… Yoruba, a place where we are from … our roots.” (II) At timestamp 8:22 to 8:27 of the video, Chief Isaac Jemide (the Oshodin of Warri Kingdom) said: “… we are a Yoruba people as such.” Cc: DubaiLandLord 3 Likes |

TAO11: you still haven't explained. 1. Ginuwa ruling house 2. Evben and Ada 3. The identity between Itshekiri and Binis in royal coronation and ordinance Don't give me the Ada and Evben is a corrupt word of the Yoruba because 1. Ogiso Ere introduced the Ada and Evben 2. Ogiso Ere is the 2nd Ogiso while Oranmiyan was the 37th Ogiso. 3. Evben means leave in my language. 4. They neither meant justice or mercy. also can you tell me who was the first Ooni of Ife and how many Ooni ruled Ife before Oranmiyan, I havent found a satisfactory answer. PS : do you notice the guy holding the Ada, is always with the Olu? that's a culture kf the binis |

Again, only a YES or NO, you don’t have to explain in the same comment. You can explain in a separate comment. So, only a YES or NO. Thanks. Now to the actual question: Were you able to read (with your eyes and mind) and hear (with your ears and mind) from those Itsekiri Chiefs and eyewitness testimonies that the Itsekiris admitted being from the larger Yoruba group?? YES or NO?? Thank you. 3 Likes |

HornyTave:aside politics it’s irrelevant to me, I can hear and understand them to a mutual extent,If an Mbaisi man is kidnapped by some Ika speaking people and they are having a conversation in front of the person planning and saying they would kill him with their native dialect the percentage that he would understand them even if they maintained a calm body language is almost 100%,I can’t say the same of,Benin,Yoruba or Hausa he would be totally lost at what they are saying, and ofcourse they bear Igbo first names and most importantly their last name are Igbo,if today an Agbor man(Christian) is in the North and Godforbid 1963 repeat itself, his as nyamiri as an Nnewi man, even if he gets the chance to shout awu mu onye Agbor am not Igbo oo,do u think they would spare him ? 1 Like |

HornyTave:I’m not sure who you’re pre-responding to with some of the things you typed, but I would educate you still. Agreeing to be educated is up to you. The autochthonous people of Ode-Itsekiri are Yoruba people from their own testimonies as you must have heard with your ears (in that video) & read with your eyes (in those 1800s eyewitness European accounts). Ginuwa is a Bini — but he is not an autochthone Bini, he is from the Benin royal house; that is from the Ife-Yoruba lineage. He fled the Benin palace in search of a save haven. He came to settle amidst the Itsekiris. He was taken as their king because of the regalia of royalty he came with which identified him to be legitimately Yoruba of Ife descent [See HERE] among other reasons. In consequence, this explains why you hear Itsekiris calling themselves Yoruba — that is, they understand that both the Itsekiri autochthones & the Itsekiri royal house are of Yoruba descent. This also explains why (during the Tsola’s coronation) the Ooni of Ife was recognized first before the Benin king. So, all your Ada& —————— But I’ve educated you separately on the fact that Ada & Abere is from Ife-Yorubaland. I may do that again. From a linguistic angle, ‘Ada’ has no meaning in Benin language. I have treated this. In Bini language, cutlass is ‘Ọpia’ & alternatively ‘Ixo’ if used for farming. In Bini language, sword is ‘Bẹtẹbẹtẹ‘. So, where does ‘Ada’ come in? Ada does not exist in Bini language. It is found only in Yoruba language, hence it’s usage vis-a-vis monarchy for Benin. ——————— The so-called ‘Ẹbẹn‘ is a very recent Benin alteration of the actual name. We know this because there are writings from Benin in the 1800s which incorporates the actual name. Refer to H. L. Roth’s work on Benin published in 1903 which incorporates the actual name that’s now altered to ‘Ẹbẹn’ by the Binis. The actual name of the insignia as collected from the Binis in the 1800s found in this work is ‘Ẹbẹrẹ’. There is not one instance of the word Ẹbẹn. Interestingly, the Yoruba name till date of this object is ‘Abẹrẹ’. Compare this Yoruba word with the older Benin Ẹbẹrẹ and with the newer Benin fabrication Ẹbẹn. The odd/fraudulent one is obvious. Yoruba is the source again. —————- Regarding your Ogiso story, there is no classical Benin writing which says Ogiso Ere introduced such objects to Benin. Only Benin blogs & Benin neighborhood stories of recent times. More so, the earliest Benin writings states clearly that the Ogiso ‘monarchy’ was introduced to ‘Benin’ from Ife — Again Benin writings NOT Yoruba writings. Let me know if you have further questions. Make sure they’re reasonable questions though. Peace! 4 Likes |

TAO11: the same Ile Ife that didn't exist until Oduduwa deposed Obatala, whose grandson ( Oranmiyan) started the Oba dynasty in Bini. its like saying, Ife went into the past to give names to Igodomigodo insignias. ( I don't understand how the future gave names to the past ) There were 35 kings in Igodomigodo before the advent of Oranmiyan. you keep on fabricating stories. Ogiso dynasty predates Ile Ife and Oranmiyan ( the Oba confirmed it ) The Ada wasn't a farming tool or a War tool also, so the Opia conjunction doesn't hold here. They were symbols of AUTHORITY. A quick search on Google confirmed the botanical name of Abere is 'Picralima nitida' also known as ' Osu ' in Edo and 'Nkpokiri' in Ibo. lol ( whats your definition of your distorted ' Abere '?) Mhen Ishan calls leaves Evben or Ehbe ( whats leave in yoruba?) |
