Good morning house, pls I need your views and opinions on this subject matter.

Ok, I currently work with an FMCG Coy in Ibadan as an inventory officer where I earn N175k net on a monthly basis. It’s important to state here that I was living in Lagos prior to my getting this FMCG job.

So, I moved to Ibadan 2 months ago and currently put up with a friend in his apartment while I try to figure out how to move my stuffs to Ibadan on relocation basis. But along the line, I got a job with a big agricultural establishment affiliated to a multinational agricultural firm and I’m being offered N259k for a start excluding other benefits such as airtime(15k) which is different from my main salary.

Also note that the N259k is gross so my take home could be around N230k & buy or thereabouts.

Now here’s the challenge. This new job is in Kaduna(the state capital) and I’ve not been to kaduna before. So, house what do you think about this. I need your candid, sincere and factual advice on this matter.

Thank you

You will enjoy kaduna sir , don't forget to sha come & buy me mommy's villa roasted fish .. all the best in your new kaduna adventure

What's the difference? Is the difference between both salaries worth your life and safety?

Have you thought of how to cope when you get there since you have no one there? Which makes it even more difficult getting a place and easy to fall into wrong hands.

Do you even know why nobody took the job up till now they had to offer it to you?

What if you take it, and they start their crises? Where or who will you run to?Are you a northerner?

Just stay put where you are.
Let them give it to their indigenes or someone who's based there.

Op ask the company to include "ransome" allowance and also personal life assurance equivalence of 300% of your annual salary.
You guys lack negotiation skills. Before they offered you at Ibadan the job, they do not have any local content, so stress that to your advantage.

Having lived in Jos and my Uncle then relocated from Kaduna, both cities having crises time after time, I will advice you to stay jejely in Ibadan. My Uncle's relocation from Kaduna to Lokoja and my relocation back to Ibadan from Jos is informing my decision here. Cities like Jos and Kaduna always have crisis and you are a non-indigene to the indigenes there whether you are close to them or not even if you speak their language, they still recognize their own. As a non-indigene in those cities I mentioned, during crises, you are always the target of the attacks! Ire o!

Bro the difference between the both salary not much naa bit the difference between ur safety on both towns is so wide. Nigeria is greatly polarized between ethnicity. It's not the best time to take such risks please. If they offered you special packages like hazards, security, accommodation then it would've been considered.
Remain at your current job, another bigger offer with less relocation risk will come again.
So you mean all offers that comes your way, you try it? Make things calm down before you take such heavy risks. Remember you will be travelling always to come see your people in Lagos. Peace of mind is importanter

Besides if he got job offers in safe places like Minna, Dutse, Birnin-Kebbi and Lafia (or Keffi) (especially the first and the latter), I will support him by saying move to those places and he will get job offers in those cities in no time, if he is willing to be patient! However, crises-ridden cities like Jos and Kaduna and fanatics-filled cities like Kano are a No-No for me and this is from someone who has experienced the crises of Jos and had to relocate jejely to little or no jobs Ibadan. Life first in my opinion, that is very very important!

My brother please your life is valuable than money , I'll advise you to stay in ibadan peacefully than going to kaduna or any other northern state because if you stick to your 180k in ibadan with prayers of your parents you can still get 400k job in that same ibadan or any peaceful states in Nigeria, may God put you through, amen

Ibadan is far more dangerous to live than Kaduna because people get kidnapped and killed for rituals in Ibadan all the time.

Your analysis is correct about Babbangona & Thrive agric, I really wish Nigeria was a peaceful country. Living in the North is super cheap & people can save more than 50% of their salary in the North after flexing & drinking.

But some cities like Jos and Kaduna don't help themselves with their crisis reputation. You will not see anybody complain about Minna or Lafia in that same light!

I'd advise you stay in Ibadan, not because Kaduna is not secure, but because the risk in inter-state journeys is quite enormous these days.

Another one here that he has to consider! Except if he is ready to pay through the nose for flights to and fro.

DON'T GO TO KADUNA! Look at this from the perspective of the nature of your job! You are going to be working for a big agric firm, there's no way you will not be visiting farm sites. Visiting farm sites equal the possibility of coming across murderous Fulani herdsmen or bandits. Don't be swayed by those saying come to Southern Kaduna! The city might be OK to live in but what about when you have to visit a farm site? Think am well ooo!

Another one for the Op who seems to have been blinded by money's perusal.

Hmm you are right on this security issues, I refuse to accept an offer from Babbangona some time ago because of the Northern Kaduna issues.

Even 10 years ago, I will never take an opportunity to take up a job in Kaduna just due to the crisis reputation they have!

Kaduna may not be safe but it is sure safer than Ibadan. You are far more likely to be kidnapped and killed by ritualists in Ibadan.

I have worked and lived in both cities

Stop with these nonsense assertion you are bandying about Ibadan! I was born and bred there! At least Ibadan never has a crisis reputation like Kaduna SMH.

Kaduna airport doesn't operate currently. So he has the options of either landing in Kano or Abuja and then following road to Kaduna. So to me it's not worth the risk.

And you want him to go there to work? Same road that witnesses kidnappings and killings almost every other week? Why are Nigerians so wicked and economical with the truth? OP, please listen carefully. Kaduna is highly polarised along ethnic and religious lines up to the seat of government. Also, I see that nobody is mentioning the ethno-religious riot of the 1999/2000 era. If you were there at that time , you would wish you never lived in Kaduna. Except if you're a hausa Muslim. Another thing is this: if the organisation you're going to work for is an agricultural one then, most likely, your place of work will be on the outskirts of town. This increases your security risk. Also, would you want to be flying from Kaduna to the south everytime? If no is the answer then I put your chances of getting kidnapped or killed on the road at 50/50. Lastly, I'll advice you to stay in Ibadan and count the difference in salary as the opportunity cost for security. You'll thank me later for this advice.

Gbammest! He has said all I want to say! People hammering on the Kaduna security know what they are saying Op. Besides, you will be traveling through bandits' territories to relocate and for further journeys! Not worth the risk bro, not worth the risk!

I don't see much difference in the salaries if you factor in air fares to the South and the risk of falling victim to bandits. If you'll have to visit farms, your risk doubles. At this point in time, Ibadan is a safer place to be and cost of living is much lower than that of Lagos. Food is relatively cheap. Same for accommodation and transportation.

Though I can't talk much about the accommodation since Lagos money and greedy Ibadan landlords and agents are now in cahoots with each other! But for his kind of salary, that is the least of his problems!

At op better stay in Ibadan were you can close your eyes to sleep.

Most part of the North is not safe

I Went to Kaduna some time ago and was shock when I was told our vehicle can't pass a particular place until the military give security clearance. My brother when the clearance came around 9pm that night, every driver were ask to put off head light before passing. Meaning our driver drove for around 20minutes without light.

Just today we received news that bokoharam is requesting for $25,000 to release a Christian brother that was kidnapped more than a month ago, initial they were requesting for 80million

Stay safe and forget about the big salary

Can you imagine! I hope the greedy Op is looking at this experience too! No say, we we no warn you o!
