The biggest source of government revenue in any sane country is TAXATION. So our government controls the FIRS. They don't need other natural resources. The crude can even dry up. |

Pierocash:Which Coal are you referring to?? The coal of colonial era? Or is coal still mined in the current era? ... The latest news and the happenings in some states highly suggests that the Federal Government is not in control of the Gold Deposits in Nigeria. .. Or are there Official laws to that effect? |

BluntCrazeMan: Theoretically, ALL Mineral Resources belong to the FG but in reality, it's impossible for the FG to control all these resources so it seems they just focus on the one that is giving them alots of money and easy to control- CRUDE OIL. There are many rocks in Ekiti, Ondo and Kogi States from which the States can be mining Limestone for cement, ceramics and glass production. Artisan miners are in every State, digging the ground to extract solid minerals in crude forms which are then sold for peanuts to Chinese mining companies to refine them and sell them at the international markets. Bandits have taken over many mining sites in Zamfara State to mine gold and they have chased away the original inhabitants of these villages. There are so many Northerners being employed to dig the ground for gold in Iperindo-Ilesha axis of Osun State. |
