Nice.

It will be better if Edtech startup gets similar funding because I also have one that needs funding.

Nice anyways.

What stage is your Edtech idea? What does it address? Don't give away the core but I'd like to know.

having an idea is not enough, you need to Kickstart it, form a group of fellow startup entrepreneurs, enter market, and then use the figures to canvass for investors.

Profile of the startup team also matters. Where have they worked previously, what solution is the startup offering that others aren't. How has it been accepted by the target market, etc
thanks it just got clearer to me.

The problem with this is mostly the clause from these angel investors at the pre-seed funding.

The ROI and more. There are so many sharks out there and sometimes one rather scales the idea to a certain stage before opening it up.

I've been working on a philanthropy-driven fintech idea for months now but refusing to open it up.

My thing with Agritech is that it is not straight forward. The tech guys dont know anything about it. They have to depend on illiterates in the villages and scammers.

Agritech is no go area for now also cos the system is not so ok. Until there exist solutions for the problems. Solutions are what Agritech should produce, but they arent. Sorry bro. They are making their clients cry.

It's really saturated already as all so called finTech are into same thing. They somehow go into consumer lending stuff and the next comes up with same.
They need to go into other direct sectors

That's why the sector needs to be regulated. No fintech should be allowed to boycott the necessary financial regulations. More importantly, the public needs serious enlightenment. Many can't differentiate between Prospa or Piggyvest and MMM.

Agreed. But note the Fintech is massive, and would be lifetime because money is forever(as far as I can think, now) in existence, thus building around it some sort of solutions that provide some great experience(earning, growing and redistribution of finance) will be a lifetime and may not be saturated enough for products to peak. What can happen is competition and only the evolving-ready team would often be ahead.

Refusing to open it up is understandabl but I think it is not safer. An idea not converted into and timely too will continue to remain "a pregnancy". Rather examine and dimension the level of equity and risks you would desire. Btw, funding appears to be the "engine oil" of any idea wondering if you have factor this in already. Don't be over cautious ⚠️ with level of ownership as you could use one realized to open other ideas where you can have a higher stake rather pick your battles and start off asap. My thought.

So without agritech companies,we won't have agribusiness?

Agriculture is vastly different from finance in that, while there is a strong push towards paperless money and electronic transaction, agriculture always requires a physical product.

Thus, an expanding fintech industry shoukd not ever been seen to be a threat to agritech.

Besides, you have hands and a Brian of your own. Go and start your own agritech firm.

I understand. But I think the problem with pre-seed funding is, at the stage the structure is most vulnerable. Investors set an higher margin for exit clause and since profitability of the idea become the main driving force, you could also lose control because your percentage ownership is lower, including the original valuation.

Secondly, there's a tendency to deviate from what birthed the necessity of that idea.

Most financial advisors would tell you to stall pre-seed funding as much as you can. But for FinTech, as with most ideas, funding is important. But what are the terms?

Since I am into web development, graphics, UI and creative writing myself, it's a leverage to quietly work on the idea before opening it up at a later stage. There's the legal framework too which must be clear-cut.

Just out of curiosity, are you working on any or something similar?
Re: Prospa Raises $3.8 Million In Pre-Seed Round by angelfallz(m): 10:25am On Sep 09, 2021
Agritech is the use of technology and technological innovation to improve the efficiency and output of agricultural processes.

You are looking at agritech as two seperate things ie. tech guys and farmers(other forms of agriculture included) where the tech guy needs to approach the farmer to know what the problem is before he can produce a tech that can solve the farmer's problem.

Many of the guys that are doing fintech, that is Financial technology, how many of them know about banking, how many of them know about finance?
But they saw some of the problems of the banks and financial institutions and came up with solutions.

Lets assume you are a tech guy, you hear about some old women in a village somewhere in Benue who have to travel very long distances to sell their perishable food stuff eg tomatoes. if they don't sell it immediately it spoils and the women lose money.

As a tech guy you should be able to come up with a tech that can help these women safely store their perishable food stuff and still retain its freshness.
As a tech guy you should be able to come up with an innovation that can link these women to buyers directly.

Have you heard of N drip?
Its an Israeli innovation that is an alternative to flood irrigation. What is flood irrigation? Simply put, flood irrigation is the practice of flooding land with amazing amounts of water to grow crops.
You know that Israel is located in a place where water is a premium. So what happened? they developed an irrigation tech that uses less water and is cheaper than micro irrigation. Micro irrigation is another alternative to flood irrigation, but it is very expensive.

The man that developed this tech N-Drip is a professor. He is not a farmer. But he saw a problem in agriculture and provided a solution.

https://ndrip.com/

https://www.israel21c.org/8-israeli-inventions-for-greener-farming/

And finally some of the agritech in Nigeria that I have read about don't seem to really be providing tech solutions or innovations, unlike their Fintech counterparts, they are more like crowd funding enterprises.
