Good morning house, please i did my interview in Abuja on the 31st of August 2021 and i was denied. i reapplied and the closest dates i got for Lagos is July 19,2022. so i said let me try Abuja again but it took me to where it asked me if i have been previously denied in the last 2 months and i clicked it the response and i quote" Applicants for the U.S. visa are required to appear in person for a visa interview at the U.S. embassy/consulate. Please schedule an appointment for an interview".
Please has anyone experienced this or what do i do in this scenario? Thank you .

Preferably someone in Nigeria. You will not need a statement of account and may not be questioned beyond your funding. Keep your Nigerian home ties anytime. Btw, a student cannot be sponsoring another student

Hello. Please I need guidance from experienced people here, iv seen where someone was told to tackle the reason for a previous denial in the ds160 space where we are asked if we have been denied a visa before. I wrote

"I WAS REFUSED A VISITING VISA IN 2014 or 2015(please pardon me, i can't remember the exact year). I BELIEVE THE VO REFUSED ME A VISA BECAUSE HE BELIEVED I HAD NO HOME TIES, ALTHOUGH HE WASN'T PATIENT ENOUGH TO LOOK THROUGH MY DOCUMENTS BECAUSE I HAD PROOF. SINCE THEN, I HAVE GONE ON TO GET A MASTERS DEGREE, I HAVE A THRIVING CAREER - ACADEMIA AND HUMANITARIAN FOUNDATION, I BELONG TO PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS AND HAVE MY MUM AND SISTERS HERE. THIS TIME I'M TRAVELLING BECAUSE MY CAREER NEEDS ADVANCEMENT AND EXPOSURE"

Is it okay or do I take it out and just say "YES"

In RED - Avoid blaming the visa officer (you can but choose your words carefully)
In BROWN - That happened after your interview - irrelevant to the question
In BLUE - Leave that for your interview date and be careful how you say it - " advancement and exposure" can still happen in Nigeria

Reason for previous denial "unable to prove home ties"

Please is it for Fall or Spring?
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by Dayoaf: 2:34pm On Sep 09, 2021
URGENT!!!!
Is it advisable to still go for Fall interview in September, is that going to be a minus with the Consular?
Or should one just defer and use a Spring i-20 to be safer??

If classes started and you're still waiting for interview, not a good idea. I would defer to spring semester.

Proposed Transcripts
VO: What are you doing now
Me: Currently finishing up my NYSC

VO: Why are you going to USA?
Me: I’m going for a Masters degree in biological sciences with specialization in neuroinformatics and neurophysiology at -Statetheschool-
VO: how did you get to know about this school school?
Me: From a Professor -statehisname- He’s a professor of -statehisfield- at the dept i applied to I have been an ardent follower and admirer of his after I came across a number of articles that He published, which I used during my undergraduate thesis project. So when I decided to get a Masters degree in USA I checked what school he works in, and luckily for me they had a course which was in line with my career goals. I emailed him and told him about my research goals and he was happy to have me on board with him being my supervisor.

VO: Really so what will you people be working on?
Me: We will be concentrating on a number of neurodegenerative disease ( I’ll state some) and possible therapies to them, with our proposed research thesis being “Hippocampal modulation of synaptic plasticity in neurodegenerative diseases and development of therapeutic intervention using drug reposition strategies”

VO: how many schools did you apply to?
Me: I applied to three schools (MSU, St. cloud state, MVSU); I got into two.

VO: why did you choose this program
Me: I chose this program because, It’s a broad multidisciplinary program that integrates different fields and because my area of specialization is interdisciplinary (neuroinformatics & neurophysiology) I felt this course would be a perfect fit.

VO:What’s your study plan?
Me: “I’ll explain it in details” ( i’m assuming it is what courses & unit i’ll be doing for the coming semester and for the 2years, and what is required for me to graduate, *please if that isn’t what it is someone should explain what study plan is*)

VO: why did you choose this school?
Me: other than because I would love to work with Professor -statehisname- (tell them who he is incase this question comes before the previous one or that previous question isn’t asked), The program structure at the school are in line with my specialization and they also have numerous research opportunities.

VO: why the United States, why not Nigeria?Don’t they offer biological sciences here?
Me: While yes it’s true masters in biological sciences is offered in nigeria, my area of specialization isn’t offered anywhere in the country, coupled with the fact that it is more practical and experimental based and requires work in the labs and on the field which is different from the situation here in Nigeria as it is more class based.

VO: why the United States? (why not Canada or UK ? or any developed country sha)?
Me: The united states is no 1 for in-silico experimentation which was a defining factor for me. Coupled with the fact that the USA has more research opportunities than any other place in the world.

VO: you got a scholarship?
Me: no, it was an academic merit based on previous educational achievement and the strength of my application.

VO: Sponsor and what does he do?
Me: My father, he has businesses/companies (not sure which one to use here) that deals in importation, local production and distribution of clothing fabrics to both private and government organization (e.g schools, military, police). He is also an import consultant for different companies and owns numerous residential properties in Lagos as well as in Enugu which he rents out.

VO: what will this program do for you (your career)?
Me: It will give me the foundation needed to succeed in drug design and development . It also will equip me with the knowledge and skill to help improve treatment strategies against neurodegenerative diseases here in nigeria. Currently the life expectancy in Nigeria is relatively low compared to other countries, this neurological disease affecting the elderly is one of the factors that causes this low life expectancy. And it’s only the rich or well to do that can manage and treat these diseases. This would be my own quota to the development of nigeria.

VO: What do you plan to do after your masters degree or plan to use this degree for?
Me: I plan to apply and work at a non-entry level position at any top biotech/pharm company here in nigeria( state some places) and help in drug design and development against neurodegenerative diseases. Also I would love to work with Nigerian government (ministry of health) to help improve treatment strategies for the elderly against neurodegenerative diseases and ultimately in the long run start up my own biotech company which would concentrate on neuroscience.

Please i need corrections on this, for possible things to leave out or to add or to modify
Thanks xx

Most schools will offer some kind of assistantship depending on your qualification (subject area i.e. mathematics, physics, chemistry) and the financial recourses of the school. What state/states are you looking at for school? (to narrow the search)

Is it advisable to still go for Fall interview in September, is that going to be a minus with the Consular?
Or should one just defer and use a Spring i-20 to be safer??

So I actually have an extension letter
My program start date was August 17
But I was given a month extension
I already deferred to spring but I’m thinking of using my fall transcript to do my interview on Monday, cos its available for emergency
But I was also thinking I could pick a later date like October and use my Spring i-20 but a friend said I might not be able to use EA for spring because my appointment confirmation would show that its EA and that might affect me because spring is still far
Please help!
I’m so confused
