It took Westerhoff 4 nations cup to win 1

-He went to 88 (bronze). 90 (silver) 92 (bronze) and then won 94

Winning nations cup is luck once u cross group stages.

Even drogba didnt win 1
there are 3 or 4 teams stronger than eagles

Ivory coast, algeria , Sengeal and Cameroun/Tunsia will give this team a tough time.

Most of this guys are getting ex France developed players. Eg Mahrez
Nigeria wasn't even established as a footballing nation then compared to when Rohr took over as coach.

He has lots of English developed players of Nigeria's decent to choose from. Stop making excuses for his failures.

We didn't say it MUST be a local coach

If you want to get a foreign coach why not get a competent and technically sound one?

Not the one that can't read a game

And then start owing salary ?. God bless that man for me. Heaven knows you can't owe me igbese. At this stage what we need is a technical assistant.

Nigeria won 1st nations cup in 1980 and since then we have been rising and been top 5 in africa.

84 we won silver
88 bronze

In the african context nigeria became a force in the 80s

What failures?

All Nigerian footballers have to go to europe for advancement because Europe is the center of football.

No be by gra gra or Muscle. Maybe village football gra gra and muscle works

His mandate is to qualify the nation for nations cup and world cup, if he does that he has done ok

they didnt say play samba

AS a business owner if u hire someone u give them objective ,if they produce result then that is it.

The Job of the NFA is to create youth programs to get new talents. When was the last U20 or u17 team that excited?

If that pipeline is blocked where will u get ur future stars.

The man has done very well.

His style of play is in line with modern football and that way u win matches. Not playing samba and all hailing toros.

Even Brazil no dey play samba anymore

Exactly that's my point

If we have won AFCON before

And won olympic gold before

What we Nigeria should be aiming is how to reach world cup finals if we can't win it.

Not to keep a coach that can't handle Sierra Leone or be celebrating winning cape varde a team Emyimba will comfortable thrash.

Even the cape Vade cape to be real they scored 2 goals against our one. So they were better. It only one of the goal was own goal

Laurent Blanc
Ralf Ragnick
Zinedine Zidane

Rhe first two are good coaches. If they can get Zidane as Replacement, then no doubt, its fine.

Rohr has however improved the records the SE has but the team is not functioning at fullll potential. This is something a coach like the legendary Zidane can unlock without any reservations or doubt, especially as Nigeria need to get to the Quarterfinals in Qatar.

The way his contract has ran also is just confusing. No modern coach will like such crappy attitude from the NFF one bit. They have normalized owing for months.

I'd say if he qualifies the team for Qatar (very sure), he should be allowed but an attacking analyst be employed. Else, if NFF can lay hands of the French Legend, they should.

Nigerian is supposed to be winning trophy not being happy about qualifying for tournaments

Shows the level of degeneration.
You can imagine some here saying, for once we are not using 'calculators.'
Their poor mentality cannot see us wining trophies but celebrating qualifications... just as Arsenal did (sorry to use that example) start celebrating top four under Wenger, then top six under the next gaffer and today that is even a mirage.

It is called progressive degeneration, a deterioration into mediocrity.
This is a country that once competed with the biggest and the best in Africa consistently, wiping the floor with the likes of Cape Verde.
Can one remind these medicore thinkers that we were once ranked 5th best in the world, 5th, 5th, 5th..... In 1994 just 27 years ago, not in another generation oh, and the man that took us to such lofty heights is still alive...

What kind of nonsense do we keep on subscribing to. We should be looking for a Westerhof replacement and keep on firing until we get there, not settling for rubbish. Because it appears we are not interested in winning trophies just competing. Just look at how crestfallen the Super Eagle brand has become.... sad.

For me it is clear. And this is how I conduct my life and business.
You must have a reference point to measure success. Use statistics, metrics, whatever., but you must anchor your decisons on set parameters of productivity in deciding how long a gaffer is to be given to meet up to the best possible results, the highest results you have attained previously.

If I was in that panel that interviewed Rohr I will have shown him where Nigeria soccer was when Clemens Westerhof (our most successful senior mens coach till date) started and where he took us to and the time-span, the means and methods he adopted and demand a replication at the least, if not a better outcome in the same time frame. That is what looking for success entails.

Westerhof started when the number of foreign based players could be counted on the palm of one hand. He single-handedly discovered, recruited, trained and improved a whole slew of talent. When he left our boys were playing in some of the biggest clubs in Europe's premier leagues.

How many players can we say today owe their stardom or career explosion or big club moves to Rohr or the national team. Are we better today that when he started....

In Westerhof's time our best players were made by the Green White Green. Today it is European clubs that make our national team tick and when they cough Covid restrictions, Rohr begins to tremble against.... Cape Verde.... kai... what a step down....

Westhoff was acting as an agent and a coach.he sold some players like Amokachi to brugge and babangida etc.

Clubs develop players not national team coaches

Even the so called 94 team with westerhoff everything was based on calculation. They mostly lose away or draw but at home was where they were shining.

94 world cup qualification we were looking for a draw at the last match to qualify , a loss and CIV would have qualified.

we qualified on goal difference

Oga. At the end of USA 94 we were ranked 5th in the world. How we did it is immaterial.
That is what we should be looking for. Anything else is NOT progress but management.
Continue along the path of management and the world will leave you behind, just as the rest of the Premiership has left Arsenal behind.
Sorry once again to use that example but the lines are just too similar. In any field of human endeavour standing still is retrogression.

That FIFA ranking was overhyped in my own opinion. our true position was 9th /10th

Records speaks for them selves

We played 4 matches in that world cup won 2 and lost 2.

Won against Bulgaria and Greece. Lost to Italy and Argentina

We won all the nations cup games (5 games)

Lost all the friendlies prior to world cup

In the qualifiers lost to CIV and drew Algeria away

Won both matches at home 4-1 each

After the world cup lost all friendlies

In World cup history so far we have played 21 matches and Lost 12, drew 3 and won 6.

that is relegation form

Very soon now u go dey yab Arsenal

nigeria=arsenal

What all these anti Rohr ppl dont see is that for eg u need a car for work u desire for Lamborghini or Porsche but ur money can buy/afford Honda CRV.

Rohr so far is not even getting his salary and he is meeting his target set by employers which is qualification anything else is bonus.

Just like players coaches too are expensive. If u want Messi be prepared to pay 1million $ every week, If u want guardiola be prepared to pay Millions.

Can Nigeria in its current state afford Guardiola even Zidane or Blanc. Most of u here will not accept a reduction in salary for a job why would they.
Zidane is a millionare u think he wants to come to Nigeria? MAdrid ws paying him Millions as a player and coach. he hasnt coached algeria its nigeria he wants to coach?
