What are the the key things that must be ensured for quality work?

To ensure a quality Pop job.

1 Casting process must take place on a clean & oily wooden /glass/ metal board.

2 Pop Boards must be Casted Properly using quality amount of fillas which determines the strength of P0P.

3 casted boards must be kept dry before hanging (dry boards becomes stronger)

4 wooden platform must be straight to avoid creating warped board.

5 mould must be mixed properly to achieve better solutions.

6 boards must be cut Accurately to fit in smaller dimensions.

7 During the hanging Process, a lot of concentration is required to achieve a better design & perfect fit.

8 Lining must be straight (Lining is achieved using a white lining rope & a black cement. Nails would be placed on the straight line to hold & support the First set of hanging)

Bro’s, do not lead them into temptation with your trial-and-error solutions. You’ve not imported a single door into Nigeria let alone install one to know what it cost (not talking money) those who have towed that path.
I’ve witnessed and done over 100 of those doors and I can tell you those who did regretted the decision.

Well, we need more experience though. So people should feel free to experiment after all it’s their money!

The owner of the doors below is an old member of this forum. He loved everything foreign and hated naija local tinz

His friend imported the doors below into the country but his engineer condemned it and my Oga gullibly bought them for his own project.

The rest is history! Money wasted.

I wish a lot of us can be could bold enough to come and share our construction experience and the things we wished we did right but as a black man with black mentality, we will never own up to our mistakes.

The problem of those doors is beyond the concern you raised. A double-sided hinged panel door won’t give you any issue when installing because it had no frame and it can always be mirrored to work both sides.

How you missed this is something I don’t know?

In my view, the things Im likely to import from the Uk for my build would be electrical fittings , mayB internal door handles and hinges, finish ohhhhhh.Things that would depend o n weather for its longevity, my hand nor dey!

This particular door, frames, keys and handles, hinges, bolt and installation might be below N20,000. I use this normally on rented apartments, especially where high paying tenants are not the target.

We want it fast, cheap and less stressful. You can’t really achieve masterpiece using that approach.

I build my doors to my taste and I don’t really care how long it took.

I bought some wood for internal doors around January. I’m still drying them till date.

There’s no way you can ever compare a solid wooden door with an engineered wood.

A few years back, a client told me he’s ordering all the doors for his multi-dwelling project from Europe.

I asked him “Why?” He gave his reasons and I respect his decision.

When the doors arrived Nigeria, he called to inform me so that we can make appropriate plans for the installation of the doors. I visited him to check the beautiful and well packaged foreign doors BUT I realized there were no frame for the doors.

I asked how he intend to achieve a matching frame for the door.
He said a friend told him he should check up cuts in Mushin that they can get him a matching frame.

To cut the long story, the doors were badly installed due to lack of matching frames and accessories and few months later he had to change everything to Chinese doors.
